I am growing so tired of seeing accessories stolen and figure swaps on store shelves. If Mattel were to shrink wrap their boxes, similar to the way that blu rays and DVDs are packaged, do you think that this may help? Maybe stores could have a no return policy on boxes that have been returned without the exterior plastic wrap.

Great idea. Well what i dont get is, on the box it says "Comes with....." so why dont they just check that?
but yeah i see the problem people are having. Thats why they introduced labelling the content on the front of the packaging however, that obviously seems to not work, either, so your idea could work, i guess.

Maybe stores could have a no return policy on boxes that have been returned without the exterior plastic wrap. They're not going to do that for toys. Especially as someone returning it could just say they were returning it because it had the wrong figure/accessories in when it was bought. They can't just throw money at the packaging in the hope that it would stop any theft or fraudulent returns, because A) it wouldn't, and B) it'd mean the figure quality would decline because the money was spent on the packaging. Theft and fraudulent returns have little to nothing to do with the packaging. They are down to the people working in stores, and the demographic wrestling attracts. And huge chains of stores aren't going to change their policies just because some people on a wrestling forum have noticed switched figures. Unless somebody gets on TV complaining about it.

There's theft everywhere, that just come along with the collecting and a thief is a thief and he will find a way to steal what ever he's looking for!!! Thankfully theres more options to buy figures like other stores or online!!!

Quite frankly, it isn't a big enough issue as some of you guys make of it for Mattel to go through these crazy steps to stop it

The McFarlane type plastic clamshells would work, but the cost of elites would go up a few dollars because of it.

I have lived in two major US cities the past three years, and I would say that about ten percent of elite figures are swapped or accesories stolen. More people, more thieves maybe. One out of ten seems like a problem to me.

They can package the figure in a steel box and someone will still take the belts. I wonder what stores do with these figures missing accessories.

Yeah I'm gonna help my TRU plan a sting on some ahole who keeps doing switches. Today he switched E16 Rock with a Basic AND kept the attire, mic and shades.

i've seen some TRU clearance the figures by 50% on torn boxes or missing accessories... switcheroo's doesnt happen too often here... but most of the time it's belts that are missing... i cant even imagine when the new boppv starts hitting... all the white belts will be missing... if they change the packaging, they'll most likely raise the prices which i would hate...

I can easily open my dvds with out damaging that plastic wrap. And if I damaged the wrap I can easily replace it. So I dont think this is a very good idea.
What mattel needs to do is send a memo out to toy stores letting them know what's going on. And then all we can hope for is that the stores tell the employees to check packages on all the returned items.
Theft is something I also see in diecast peices. And some of those diecasts have way better packaging than wwe figures.
