TNA IMPACT WRESTLING today announced a new worldwide Pay-Per-View programming initiative for 2013. The 52 annual episodes of IMPACT WRESTLING on SpikeTV will lead to four, live epic Pay-Per-View events commencing with “Genesis” on January 13th, “Lockdown” on March 10th, “Slammiversary” on June 9 and “Bound For Glory” on October 13th.
In addition, seven Pay-Per-View specials that will be branded as “TNA Wrestling: One Night Only,” series will debut in April 2013 and continue throughout the year during the additional months. The 3-hour taped Pay-Per-View specials will premiere on the first Friday of each month. The first two “One Night Only” specials will be “Joker’s Wild Tag Team Tournament” and “X-travaganza” which will feature the X-Division.
“The Pay-Per-View industry has changed so much in the last decade,” says TNA President Dixie Carter. “The traditional pay-per-view wrestling model needed to evolve and we believe this strategy will positively impact not only the Pay-Per-View events but the weekly television programming as well.”
The company will continue to produce TNA Wrestling’s “Unfinished Business”, which are one-hour programs available on a Video on Demand (VOD) basis. The monthly titles continue to focus on the history of a rivalry or a specific past PPV event. These titles are available for two months at a time.

All I have to say is WOW. Looks like they will keep PPV's on the road then. Not sure what they mean by PPV Specials though :/

Pretty cool but what about Destination X? I loved the concept they introduced last year with The X Division champ getting a shot at the World Title.

I think this is a great move on their part. This raises the importance of the PPVs they do have, & allows for them to have big matches on their TV shows.

The newly announced TNA Friday night PPVs will be priced at $14.95. TNA Genesis and TNA Lockdown will still be priced at $34.95.
TNA Slammiversary and all live PPVs that follow will now be priced at $39.95.
TNA Bound for Glory will be the exception to that rule, since it always had a higher price point, and will now be priced at $44.95.

Hmmm, the $15 PPVs remind me of the old WWF "In Your House" shows. Since they're pre-taped, if I can stay away from the spoilers, I might be interested in those.

Like this idea a lot.Only have PPV's for major events for times a year instead of monthly is great, think this will help build feuds and put more meaning behind the matches on those shows i.e no fill crap and also help their TV show out as well.
While these cheaper special shows can give you a little fix in between the major ones and also add something different with the shows being built around a gimmick i.e tag team tournament,X-Division,KO's,Legends....ect

Basically the $15 ppv's are just taped IMPACTs that they will be selling. I could see them taping some in the UK next time around tbh.

I don't know about budget pre-taped PPVs.
I like TNA but have only ordered one PPV from them ever, the one where Kurt Angle debuted. Then again I don't order WWE PPVs, either - they are just too expensive. But I do watch them on WWE Classic months later.

If we were back in the day of the Coliseum Video "exclusive" matches, I would say this is a great idea but results will be posted on the internet the next day and if it doesn't seem interesting, people won't want to see it.

Holy crap that sounds awful... And they're taping the first two this week to air in three months? How does that even make sense?

I dont understand how as a wrestling fan in 2013 you want LESS wrestling. Monthly PPV's are GREAT. You really want to see them drag feuds on for 3 months? People have this weird impression that the 2 big wrestling companies actually care about these so called "meaningful" things. It's not 1987, times have changed, people have changed, attention spans are shorter.
TNA doesn't get a lot of buys for their PPVs so unless having a monthly PPV is actually causing them to lose money, I don't see the point in eliminating them. Because it's still revenue. Why do you think the WWE still does it?? They obviously make a ton of money off PPV buys, not to mention it gives the venues they play in more income, helping the people that work there, etc.
TNA did most of their PPVs in their own venue, so the cost had to be next to nothing. Even 10,000 buys was income. Having less PPVs doesn't mean that the big 4 are going to be "so much more amazing and important"
and taped PPVs are going to BOMB. they might get 500 buys if at all. everyone will just get the results and be done with it. pre-taped wrestling is not good for business.
