For those who are all tied up in knots over this
wait until you try and meet virgil....and he tries to con you out of $50 for a picture
or $80 for an autograhp
then tell me how "bad' you feel for the guy
he was given a paycheck just like the rest of us, the fact that he wasn't smart with his money and doesn't know how to handle himself in this society is HIS problem.

How is this sad? No one is making him go out there and sit all alone. He chooses to keep setting up shop at various events, knowing damn well he isn't a big draw. This is what he chooses to do. Come on, how is it any different from a homeless man standing on a street holding a sign saying he needs money? |

Come on, how is it any different from a homeless man standing on a street holding a sign saying he needs money? Not even in the same ballpark. As someone else stated at the bottom of the first page, this guy (presumably) drives a car to these events. He (presumably) rents a hotel room, and can afford to cover his travel expenses. He is his own vendor. He's hustling for money, people aren't buying it, he keeps trying. Thats it. |

I got Virgil's autograph about 5 or 6 years ago at DragonCon in Atlanta. He seemed nice to me (I'm sure part of it was because I was paying for the autograph). I'm not sure how much it cost, but it wasn't that much. I know for sure it wasn't $50, cause I wouldn't have spent $50 on it.

I wonder how much he'd charge to walk around and be my personal valet? He'd have to wear the red-sparkly vest though.... and do all my "dirty-work".... while I just stand there and laugh maniacally...
He could probably make a decent amount doing something like that... I'd probably do it for a day.

Whoever made that site is pretty heartless.. The guy is just trying to make money. Well the problem is Virgil has never moved on from his fame as a background character to more important stars. He needs to let the past go, move on, and find a different line of work. |
