Anyone else a little disappointed with that "promo" tonight? I know the general consensus was that he was gonna take time off after 'Mania, but is this really how he's going to leave?

Makes sense. He goes away quietly, then comes back with an impact.

I personally liked it. I bet he'll take a month or two off and then once the Ryback/Cena feud ends, Punk returns for one more feud with Cena.

He's lost his smile. He'll be back when he finds it.

I dunno, I guess I just got so used to the way he was acting during the lead up to WM that I expected him to go out with some sort of middle finger. Hopefully he'll come back better than ever,

It's gonna be a couple long months.

I hope he shows up next week and screws Taker, leading to a rematch at Extreme Rules, which Punk wins. But he'll probably come back in 2 months and feud with Cena.

i liked it. It's clear that the intent of the promo is for you to question whether he decided to retire because there is nothing left for him to do (which technically is true)...but at the same time it was done casually and quietly so that we "forget" about Punk. Then, when he does come back it will be a massive surprise and have that shock value. If they keep saying "where's punk?" or he made a big statement then left...people would remember it and be thinking about him.
I think it's pretty clear he will return as a face, given that Ryback is now a heel and that Orton will probably becoming a heel. From a business perspective, I think CM Punk is a lot easier to utilize as a face, and can sell a lot more merchandise. Also, he will get cheered regardless of what he says in his promos...so making him a heel is just going against the grain with the crowd.

I really liked it. It doesn't give us any type of impression as to how he will return, or what he'll do.

He is the other half of the "Cena Sucks/Lets go Cena" chants so he has been somewhat a face all along. Look at the audience tonight, He walked out in a HUGE Cm Punk/Undertaker chant. When he comes back, He will probably be a tweener who fights Cena again.

Punk as a face is good. Punk as a heel is the role he was born to play. He did it for years in the Indy's. He has a much larger stage to do whatever he wants as a bad guy. Keep him heel.

I think it was a great way for him to go. The voice of the voiceless was voiceless...
Him NOT saying anything before leaving has a bigger impact IMO...

My take on the promo was that he couldn't bring himself to say Undertaker was better. He calls himself the "Best in the World" and that he's always trying to be better, move a step ahead, and do greater things....yet he failed. He couldn't beat Undertaker. So how can he take the next step in his career if he failed at the 3 most recent (Rock at the Rumble and EC PPV's, Cena on RAW, and then Taker at WM).
At first I thought he was going to challenge Austin. But having lost every high profile match of 2013 so far, Punk doesn't seem like a man on any type of roll enough to make that type of challenge.
The story will probably be that he needs to take time off and "find his confidence" or something.

Hopefully he comes back with a "Summer of Punk" type of impact. Doubt it but, Never say never!

I already can't wait for his return. I'm gonna mark out so hard. Hahaha. It would be so cool if after Cena is done with his second or third match with Ryback (yes, I think it'll be that long of a feud.), Cult of Personalty hits and the crowd explodes. Imagine his first "return" when he was gone all but a day but times 20. Haha.

Will be interesting to see when and how he returns thats for sure, very wise move to take him off TV for the time being, gives him plenty of time to nurse his injuries and get refreshed.
I wonder how long he'll be gone for? And if he'll go for the Undertaker when he comes back or get involved with someone else?

I love Punk, but I am honestly sorta glad he took a break. His bandwagon fans were getting annoying.

Makes sense. He goes away quietly, then comes back with an impact. Agreed. This allows him to come back as more villainous, dastardly heel or rededicated face.
