I know what we saw is only a digital concept image...but the knee pad and boot positioning is all wrong. Look at the digital concept pic....there is a HUGE gap between the knee pads and boot... Look at Billy Gunn in real life...from the time he started wearing shorts, there was NEVER a gap between his knee pads and boots. His knee pads are essentially right on top of his boots and always have been. Even if Mattel makes that area all black, it's still a really large gap. I get that they probably don't have a tall enough boot mold already in existence and just used the closest one they had.

If they used bigger knee pads like darren youngs in might work I was thinking about Darren Young's knee pads, and I'm afraid that they'd be too bulky. The black part of Billy's knee pads were skin tight knee sleeves underneath his knee pads. If they used the Darren Young pads, the entire portion covering the knee would be the same depth and they would have to paint black ON the knee pad.

Hopefully they can fix it with the big knee pads or custom bigger knee pads, I can't wait for this figure along with Roadd Dogg.

Hopefully they use one of the so-called "leg sleeve" knee pads on him instead.

firstly....u have to assume that they are going to paint the black knee support on the leg.
2nd.....u should've noticed that its the wrong type of knee pad first
3rd......its because they used the e19 Dolph boot...which is kinda small and Billys a tall guy...so they had to give him really long calves.
4th.....that figure is really far off....and thats at least an easily fixable problem.
but im glad u are concerned...because Billy Gunns figure deserves to be perfect.
Now can i recruit u for getting MDT to fix the Big E figures?

Just paint the skintone black and put detailed knee pads on a bigger mold style

They should use the Mr. Perfect/Swagger thigh piece to give him the shorts mold (but make him too tall) and then use a smaller calf to bring it back down to proper size. A smaller calf piece will also get the kneepads closer to the boots.

Good catch. The BCA and Marvel/ToyBiz renditions of Billy Gunn nailed his boots & knee pads. People should expect the same from Mattel. Maybe Road Warrior boots could work with the current kneepads? (Black supporters painted underneath)

If the boot was taller, the gap between the pad and boot would be smaller, and the area underneath the knee pad should be painted black anyway, it it were to be done correctly.

Its a while away so im not too concerned. I would assume they'd paint the blk underneath like l5 macho or big show.

Which they've done w/ other figs. but the knee pad is wrong btw. he wears the open back pads over the knee support they should've gave him taller boots. Maybe the Road warrior boots in white?

Let's meet in the middle and agree that the pads on the digital image are "half right and half wrong". Yeah, you are right, in terms of Billy wearing open backs in real life, yeah, the digital image ones are wrong. But the only pads Mattel has currently with an open back, in my opinion would would be too SMALL for Billy. BUT, in terms of size, the ones they give people like Randy Orton would be correct, but the backs are closed, so that part would be in correct. I guess for me, I'd prefer the SIZE of the pad be correct. If I had to choose between a small pad with a correct back, or a pad that was the correct size with a closed back....I'll take the one that's the correct size or as close as I can get so it at least looks correct from the FRONT of the figure. We have to come to terms with the fact that they can't create specific pads and parts for EVERYBODY, but I think that even with what they have they could get a little closer on certain people.

Looks fine to me, I would just be thankful we're getting a Billy Gunn and stop complaining about minor details that mattel will surely correct.
