I've kind of been wondering this for a while. I always read that if Flashbacks are a success then maybe the Legends line would have a shot at returning. Just wondering how they would determine if they are a success or a failure, considering they short pack them and they very rarely are ever a shelf warmer
Ill start from the beginning E12 Kane - success E12 Papa Shango - success E13 Edge - success E14 Bossman - success E15 Yokozuna - success E15 Booker - success E16 Diesel - success E16 Nash - success E17 Mankind - success E18 Undertaker - I would guess success?? Maybe E18 Lawler - success E19 HBK - not so successful awesome fig but a bit of a shelf warmer E19 Liz - success E20 Christian - biggest shelf warmer flashback ever E21 - HTM - success E22 Giant - guess a success? E23 - to early but wouldn't imagine they would shelf warm E24 - Trish - my opinion the belt will keep her from shelf warming
Anyway not many failures so how much longer would they need to see that they sell? Or to show the retailers the info that people actually love these older characters.
Don't get me wrong I kind of like how they include a couple in each series keeping the current stars at 4 or 5 in each Elite series. People like JYD, Brutus Beefcake, Ted DiBiase, Crush and others that deserve figures but have no shot in hell of making a regular Elite line. If they put out a Legends only line they could short pack these type guys so that maybe they wouldn't shelf warm.
I'm not whining about the Legends line but it kind of needs to make a comeback. It was a failure when everything was still brand new. These "lesser" Legends need a shot to get out there and it probably isn't happening the way they are doing it now. That's all

How do you tell if these figures were a success or a failure? I remember Papa Shango warming miserably.

I don't understand your logic, either. E19 HBK didn't warm in my area whatsoever, same with E20 Christian. I've only seen 1 E20 Christian at Sears, of all places, in the very very back with their small toy display. I never saw one at TRU, Target, Wal Mart, Meijer, etc.

I love the figures but I guess that would consider them not the biggest success?? HBK too. I don't know if he is still available but he was not to long ago on Mattel for cheap

How do you tell if these figures were a success or a failure? I remember Papa Shango warming miserably. I never saw Papa Shango warming shelves long after the release. Maybe that was just in my area I'm not trying to get in a pissing match. I just don't know what constitutes success and failures for Mattel. Clearly the original Legends, Entrance Greats and Defining Moments were failures. With all of them ending up at discount stores. But are the tons of Cenas, Rey's, Daniel Bryan's that are constantly warming considered a success?

Just wondering how they would determine if they are a success or a failure "Does this series fail at retail and have to be sent to Big Lots to sell the figures for $2?" If YES: It's a failure. If NO: It's a success.

Flashbacks are all doing great. E19 HBK is the only "ehh" one that was kinda shelfwarming.

Yes you are right but you couldn't buy most of the other flashbacks months after their release for discounts online. That's the only reason I said those two would be "failures" if any of them would be. Anerican Badass Undertaker somewhat fell into tat category just not quite as bad I don't think

The Legends line is not going to return and all we can do is just keep buying the Flashbacks so we can get more than 1 a wave, at best we will get 2 with the occasional 3 or 4 figure wave along with whatever exclusives that are made like the upcoming Bret and HBK. Its enough for me really. I wouldnt mind a few more exclusive Legends of some kind but I like what we are getting. Also some of those Flashbacks didnt warm as much because some of those series were harder to find than others and certain ones had only one in Case A with none in the revision Case B or vice versa creating more demand for them.

Yeah I understand all of that. Another note I just listened to Bill's Q & A and couldn't believe he was talking about scanning Bill DeMott or Hugh Morris or whatever, but also saying probably no chance for a Big John Studd. Blows my mind. You talk about a shelf warmer that would be one!! That's really all I meant. Not much of a chance of these lesser stars in a regular Elite line (I wouldn't think). Just would love to sneak them in somehow

The piss poor distribution of Mattel makes it impossible for us to tell what is really a success/failure except for whats in our own area. Ive never once seen FB Kane or Yokozuna in my area but at one time Ive had 11 Edges hanging around at different stores. Ive never seen FB HTM or Miss Elizabeth but Ive seen FB 18 Taker & FB 16 Diesel probably 50 times.

If Flashbacks showed up at Big Lots, we are in trouble.

Man the last basic I saw at Big Lots was an MVP/Mark Henry 2 pack. And that was way back. All I've seen mostly are the Def Mom, Ent Greats, Rumblers & Legends at the discount blow out stores

Elite 23 HHH has failed IMO. My local Walmart has about 10 of him.
