Exactly. This is exactly why guys like Bigelow and Jake Roberts never got to hold titles. Jake the Snake NEVER needed a title to get over. He was the guy they used to get guys ready for Hogan. Bigelow probably would have won a title in the WWE if it wasn't for his loss to LT at Mania. That loss really killed Bigelow. There were numerous guys back in the late 80's early 90's who were over with the fans more than anyone other than Cena/Bryan/Punk on the current Roster. Just off of the top of my head: George "the Animal" Steele King Kong Bundy Big John Studd Koko B Ware Hacksaw Jim Duggan None of those guys held gold in the WWE and were hugely over. So will it be called "The United States Intercontinental Championship?" I'm opposed, for the record.... both titles have a rich lineage that I'd like to see continue - I guess they do anyway, but whenever they do these "unifications" it always seems like one of them gets lost in the shuffle. I'm kind of surprised they're going this direction with championships - you'd think they'd want more opportunities to monetize them, with replica belts, Mattel stuff, "kids" belts, etc... if anything, I'm surprised they're not adding MORE titles so that they can sell more merchandise...... The WWE US Title only dates back to July 27th, 2003 when Stephanie brought it to Smackdown. Just because the WWE recently combined that history with the NWA/WCW US Title doesn't make it the original belt. This is what is truly wrong with the WWE. They completely re-write history to suit their needs. I am honestly surprised that they don't have the "World Championship History" Dating all the way back to Frank Gotch The World Heavyweight Championship only dates back to the day Eric Bischoff awarded it to Triple H after Brock Lesnar became "Exclusive to Smackdown" While I am all for a unification of the IC & US titles. Calling it anything other than the Intercontinental Championship would be just stupid. Mind you Intercontinental is just a fancier word for "World" when you think about it. Actually it was the Kliq that killed Bigelow's WWF career. His match with LT actually propelled him higher.

I hope if this happens that this leads to then bringing back an old title, or creating a new one. Though it brings prestige to those who hold/held both major and minor titles.

Bleh.
There isn't a championship in WWE the means anything in 2014.
For what they do with the four championships they'd have after this, they still may as well have seven again.

I've always wanted there to be an undisputed world champion, but not mid-card undisputed champion, not sure it's what's 'best for business'... Tag team, unified yes, but not mid card champions, there needs to be more emphasis on up and coming stars and giving them these titles, now is one of those prime examples, I'd like to hope they won't, but seems unlikely by the sounds of it.

Glad to say I called this a while back I wonder what they'll call the unified belt "The Intercontinental Championship" has a nice ring to it. I think the winner will hold the name... For example if dean wins collectivley the belts will be the Us title obviously a new belt because of the reported logo change coming up

I don't care who wins, as long as they keep the IC title. I have never looked at the US title as anything even remotely meaningful since it was brought into WWE. I have never thought of it as anything more than a lowly, old WCW title, & its clear the WWE hasn't cared about it for years.
