What do you guys prefer when it comes to toy hunting?
Me personally I much prefer in store toy hunting. Nothing beats the thrill of the hunt and finally finding something you've been searching for or finding something completely unexpected.
eBay gets close to that feeling but it's just not the same. Ordering online feels like cheating to me, lol.
What about you guys?

I completely agree online feels like cheating. But getting a great loose figure deal on RSC is also real nice

I get all my figures from Ringside but I'll check stores every now and then just to see what they have.

Retail has been really good in the past year. Mattel has definitely stepped up their distribution. I can be patient and save some money on figures that are expensive enough in the first place.

Yea lol feels like cheating to me too. I enjoy the hype and buld up on the hunt. And sometimes u catch a good deal. I try to shop local but once In awhile I'll do one of those travel to surrounding town runs. One day I need to track the amount of gas doing these hunts and see if online might not sometimes be worth it. eBay and trades here are also stimulating:)

Retail patience really does pay off when you consider the absurdity of prices of debut and hot figure online.

Nothing beats the feeling of finding a figure I really want in an actual store. It's a rush that I've loved my entire life, dating back over twenty years to when I was a youngen hunting Ninja Turtles, and Hasbro WWF's. It's also nice to be able to inspect the condition of the card in person, since I'm primarily an MOC collector. That said, lately I've much preferred hunting online due to the fact that A) I have to drive to another country to figure hunt, and B) the weather has been absolute crap here lately and isn't very fun to truck around in looking for figures. I usually only buy online from retail stores that sell figures at retail prices though, like TRU, Kmart, and Amazon, unless it's a Ringside Exclusive, or I'm looking for something out of production. I hate paying shipping, but I think of the gas money I'd be saving and it's a lot easier to swallow lol.

For me, since I'm Aussie, I prefer online a ton more. Even though going to the collectables store with all the figures is awesome, Ringside is great.

Store hunting is fun, unless you don't find anything, and it's a total bummer.
Losing an Ebay auction isn't as annoying, since there is no gas involved.

Online. Wasting gas sucks. Calling all the time or dealing with scalpers in your area is not fun.

Online mostly. id love to store hunt more for that feeling you get when you find it, and i like to inspect each figure if theres multiples and pick the best paint job. but with my area its usually either got a previous series clogging the shelves or some scalper has snatched everything id wanna get. if i find something, 9x out of 10 its at a store far away from me.

I use to get my figures in stores all of the time during the Jakks days but I've found in the Mattel era is much harder to get good figures at retail. My area alone has like at least 10 collectors on this site and my local stores are all pretty terrible especially TRU. Some figures never even hit retail and with college I don't have the time to go hunting at every store hoping to find the figures. Plenty of times I found sets but all the good figures were already taken. Now I just order online and it really doesn't cost all that much more than retail.

I prefer the hunt, but I live in the middle of nowhere now and there isn't even a Wal-mart within 30 miles of me. So, I resort to buying my figures online.

Amazon Prime!!!! I can usually find most items online (amazon, mattel shop, tru). Although its really fun when you find something at the store. My top Figure Hunting highlight is finding E16 Punk, E16 Diesel and Basic Natalya at Walmart. I very rarely go on hunts anymore with gas prices and all. Plus, if I didn't find the specific figure I was looking for, I might still buy a figure I didn't really like. Coming home empty handed stinks. That's why I have Elite 18 Wade Barrett.

I love buying off eBay more, because you find great deals, once in a while find rare stuff, get eBay bucks and I just love when I wait for the mailman to arrive so I can open my package and get my figures. The only thing I don't like are the auctions those are defiantly a killer to wait 6 days for it to end.

I rarely have time to go on toy hunts anymore, so I mostly get my stuff online. I just bought a set of E26 for $129.99, shipped, which is just a bit more than a dollar over retail + CA tax per figure. It's a fair price to pay so that I don't have to waste time and gas driving around town to get leftovers or, worse, nothing at all. It's all delivered to my door too!
I'll still check stores when I can, though. I lucked out and found Basic Big E, Kaitlyn, and Fandango a week ago, as well as that cool $10 deal for Lesnar/Heyman at Target. I just don't expect to find anything at stores, and mostly go for the exercise, but Mattel distribution is actually better these days. I'm hoping the upcoming Bella Twins sets turn out to be as plentiful as these latest BP sets!

If my stores actually kept a good stock of WWE figures I'd prefer that, but I hate hitting up like 6 or 7 places and finding nothing worth while. I've gotten to the point where I'd rather drop the extra cash and know that I'm getting what I want off RSC rather than spending hours hunting and finding 10 month old basics, and repacks... With other lines like T-formers, I've been successful with store hunting so mostly I go that route.
