So, y'know what's fun?
Coming up with a knee jerk, one dimensional character at 19, canning him after like two months, and then honing your craft for ten years, and just because you dig writing, revisiting him for the sake of seeing if you could come up with a bit more substance and catching up with his life after ten years. The way this little bit I've been writing is going, I feel like I could give this cat a fair shake if I ever decided I needed to write competitively again.

Mak Cross will probably show. He's pretty tenured here. You don't have another Mason Dixon on your hands here. Not everyone has all the expendable time in the world to meander around here in between shows (or nothing better to do like certain alcoholic writers of alcoholics). He did no show on me last show, so I don't know if I'd be too sure about that.

It's even more fun to be a character for north of a decade. This is a very real print screen, only editing my serial ID out and a bit of background stuff that isn't relevant to the story. Phillip Schneider is more real to me than some of my real life friends.

That's rotten. I guess I didn't realize that. I still put more vested hope in him than I would some no-name newcomer.
As a spectator/critic, I'm pretty excited about this main event. I feel like expectations for the Dex/Garrett side in particular should be sky high. I only wish Stone was paired with another tenured vet. That's not a knock at Matthews, but, from my vantage point at least, when someone gets made the way Dex was at Reborn, I'm gonna be looking for the jockey to show me just how much faster his horse than Drakz's horse, or Schneider's horse, or Bennett's horse.
I also really want to see Matthews step up for that exact same reason. I want him to dig deep and respond by saying "Well, what the f*ck about me?!".
I'm looking forward to this show.

"Cam paired up with..."
I am a yutz. For some reason I've always crossed you and Mak.
I'm looking forward to what Ace puts out this time around.

Aw, f*ck. I did it again. I said what I said 'cause Cam's heart clearly wasn't in it. By his own admission, school and his ROTC sh*t is taking the front seat. That's fine. Life first, fantasy wrestling second. If he wants to stick around and gel in the tide pool, cool. I think Cam is capable of so much more, and it's a disservice to his opponents and his own taken to put out lesser quality work week to week just to avoid getting the boot. This is what I already knew, and something I had argued with myself with before. THIS is the reason that I'm going, exactly as he said. Not because I wrote a bad RP. Woulda left like, more than a year ago if that were true. I simply don't have any desire or purpose to write, and, as he said, my heart wasn't in it. Seriously, ask Shawn, I used those exact words in a Facebook message to him. Why give up already? Dont be a CM Punk. Take the criticism and just try harder next time. That is all. Also, whoever plays Mak Cross, please message me! On a completely different topic, I was looking over the most recent card and I just don't get why people can't walk away from this. If you know you don't have the creative energy to dedicate to this and perform at a level that you're comfortable with.. If you don't have enough time to put forth week after week roleplays.. If you just don't want to do it any more, then for everyone's sake walk away. I don't think anyone will argue that I was at "the top of my game" when I left a little over a year ago and was the feature of the federation. But the fact is, I was burnt out creatively and had nothing left in the tank. Since then, my real life has changed a lot and I have very little free time, so while I have some creative energy and can dedicate some of it to the federation, I have so little time to actually apply it that I still can't say "yes, I am an active roleplayer, book me every show". I know a show is only once a month and I know what's expected of me as a roleplayer. I know the time it takes for me to write a quality roleplay and all these things considered, I know shouldn't be an active roleplayer right now. From the top of the card to the bottom of the card, why isn't this a common ideology and separation between person and character? There is a 12 hour gap between these two messages. Can we get DMK to say "I demand a trial by combat"?

Finding out what to write about is difficult for me, but its only half the battle. Making it a story and making it seem real and adding character is what the other half is. I cant get the characterization down it seems and making it real is kinda a struggle.

I cant get the characterization down it seems and making it real is kinda a struggle. Really just look around for inspiration, find some of your favorite characters and take things about them and develop it to make them your own. That's probably the best suggestion for characterization. After you've got the basis down your character will become natural as you start writing more often with him. And yeah finding an idea of what to write is my struggle as well, I know a lot of guys here plan out their future RP's so maybe think of a plan way before hand.

I need a damn break. I have been studying my ass off for these finals that are next week. The timing for this RP just wasnt good for me.
I had to do something other than no show and I liked what I came up with.

I do hope you return while I still around so we can do it proper style. I have always dug your stuff like SYE.

I'm not gonna tell you to take a break. I don't think I can take a third departure on my conscience, hahaha.
There is no shame, however, in asking for a show off. Bishop did it right after Superbrawl. I've done it when a big to do I wrote during the Epoch days got f*cked up.
Here's the breaks though - nobody but you knows your schedule and what makes you tick, and you can't hold them to the unreasonable expectation that they just should.

I don't want a break, I was saying I need a break from this damn work.
I should be fine for the next RP now. It'll deliver way more than this crap.

So here's a fun one for you to all chuckle at at my expense.
My wife texts me on my way home tonight and tells me there's a funky smell coming from the a/c. I get home around 6, and other than a brief pause for dinner, spend the next 3 and 1/2 hours tearing through my house trying to rule out possibilities. Unit itself is running fine. I check every electrical outlet and socket in the house. No dice. None of 'em are hot to the touch. Smell only happens when the a/c runs, but I source it to a storage room in the den. Up into the drop ceiling I go. Panel 1 - nothing. Panel 2 - nothing. Panel 3 - a bunch of withered, dried up drops of mouse sh*t.
I haven't found a corpse yet, but I'm hedging my bets on a deceased, unwelcome house guest.
Home ownership is fun.
