LIVE! IN OSAKA, IT'S WWE SUUUUUUUUUUUUPERRRRRRRRRRSLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM. Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn opening was joyful and I'm okay with Jericho getting the victory, seeing how big he is in Japan. I would have, however, been fine with Zayn winning. The respect being shown was great to see, as well as Jericho's comment. Alberto Del Rio being vicious with Big E. What a douche. I like the vicious side to Alberto as I've come to like him more since he has gone from WWE. Adrian Neville retaining the NXT Championship was probably the best decision. As much as I'm a fan of Kidd, there wasn't much reason for him to be the one to take the title from Neville. Next, we get an intriguing tag team match and I was glad to see Cody Rhodes and Cesaro pull off the win over Sheamus and Bad News Barrett, getting one over on The Authority, fella, right here in Osaka at WWE SUUUUUUUUUPERSLAM! I loved the inclusing of KENTA/Hideo Itami's signing to this show, really made for a good moment. Paige retaining her Women's Championship was clear. I expect her to be champion for a solid amount of time. Her determination, but respect, towards Natalya was good to see. Next up, no respect here. Batista and Randy Orton winning was for the best as they've made themselves legitimate threats in the tag team division fo' sho. Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler headlining would've been great to see as they've always had good contests. Bryan retaining was always going to happen, as I don't see him dropping the belt until at least Summerslam... anyway, a fun event in Osaka here and now we're ready for the final week to Battleground.

7/14/14 Edition
- The WWE is said to be very pleased with the outcome of "Live in Osaka". They felt that it felt very different to everything else that the company puts out. It has also been well received by critics, particularly the Dolph Ziggler/Daniel Bryan and Sami Zayn/Chris Jericho matches. There is current talk to have more Network exclusive specials like this in the future.
- There is talk that Stephanie McMahon has been working on some sort of deal with Ronda Rousey in recent weeks. Rousey is one of the hottest names in the sports world right now, dominating the UFC women's ranks. Rumor has it that Stephanie wants her to do something with the Divas division. Stephanie and Triple H are said to be huge supporters of women's wrestling and want as many eyes on it as possible.
- Some have questioned the decision to have KENTA change his name. However, this is just the WWE doing its usual re-branding. KENTA chose the name Hideo Itami based on an idol of his. The plan is for him to move to the United States and work out at the Performance Center. He should debut with NXT within the next few months, possibly by the next TakeOver special.
- AJ Lee has been absent from WWE television since dropping the Divas Championship to Paige in England this past May. This is time off that she requested but she will be returning soon. Much like John Cena, the WWE would like for her to be part of their SummerSlam or Night of Champions plans. With the original WWE Network subscriptions coming up, the WWE has planned on doing their best to treat those two shows like major deals to keep as many subscribers as possible.

Osaka, Osaka, good ol' Osaka. Ok, i'm not as clever as you people but hey it's an Osaka reply so that counts for something, right? Zayn/Jericho opening was a good call, love when a show opens up hot! Zayn vs. Jericho is one hell of a dream match for me and seeing Jericho winning here was the right call, it's not like Sami doesn't get a rub either. He stood toe to toe with the self proclaimed Best in the World. Del Rio basically releasing his inner savage is great, love the fact you had him beat such a big guy like Big E no Langston. Whats going to come from this new attitude of Del Rio? NXT Championship is on the line live from Osaka! Bah Gawd maggle! Neville retaining was the right call in my opinion, hopefully we see a certain Crowe rise quickly in the NXT ranks to face off against the champion. The number one contenders vs. the champions, and god damn it if the contenders didn't pull it off! Glad to see Cody and Cesaro getting the win here, hopefully we see Cody win at Battleground, while Cesaro I dunno. He clearly could be rocketboosted higher up on the card, but it's all regarding the situations really. KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENTA! Oh wait, he is going by Hideo Itami... Go Go Hideo! Excited to see where Itami goes, and without a doubt if he had a mouthpiece I believe he could be a star. Was actually surprised to see Paige retaining. Thought for sure this would be the championship match where the belt would change hands, however this would be a great match regardless. Batista and Orton looking to be threats towards the tag team titles is an interesting plot twist to say the least. I really, and I mean really hope you go with them having a reign. They could really bring some prestige back to those championships. Not to say that the Tag Team Championships are in jeopardy though because that's further from the truth. Main event time! Daniel going over to retain the championship was quite clear, however it was also quite clear when the match was announced that this would be a show stealer. All in all great card, and now we are on the road to Battleground! Hip! Hip! Hooray!

Monday Night Raw: July 14th, 2014 – Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia
Following the weekly Raw intro, we cut straight to the sold out arena in Richmond, Virginia. The crowd is on their feet as Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and John “Bradshaw” Layfield introduce the show as the theme music of our first guests tonight hits. As they come out, commentary informs us of a huge show tonight, including a major main event that puts CM Punk and Daniel Bryan on the same team again, as they run a gauntlet! The Shield come through the stands to a massive reaction from the crowd. Michael Cole reminds us of the announcement last week, where Roman Reigns got a match set for Battleground against Bray Wyatt. If Reigns wins, the Shield gets the match they want against the Wyatt Family but if he loses, he must join the Wyatt Family. They enter the ring and Reigns himself, has a microphone. He starts by saying that the Shield has had a lot of big matches in their time as a unit together, but this Sunday is the biggest for him. “Not only have my brothers put their faith in me to get us another match with the Wyatt Family, but there is a lot riding for me too. I will not let what happened on Smackdown happen again this Sunday. We’re out here for one reason and one reason only tonight.” Dean Ambrose talks next, saying that the Wyatt Family have managed to be a step ahead of them at every turn, but that will change. He has confidence in Reigns beating Bray this Sunday and then promises they will avenge what happened at Elimination Chamber. “The reason we’re out here right now, is because we want a piece of the Wyatt Family and we want it right now!” They don’t have to wait long as the Wyatts appear on the Titantron, with Bray stating “Richmond…we’re here.” The Wyatts come down to the ring, and Erick Rowan sets the rocking chair down for Bray. He has a microphone and he sits down, telling the Shield that they are dogs that just want a bone. “You come out here week after week and you spew your anger and you’re always so upset. Roman, you especially. I’d like to see you smile more often. But don’t worry my child, you’ll be very happy as part of my family.” Before Bray can continue, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins charge and take out Harper and Rowan with stereo suicide dives. Bray leaps from his feet and steps back, surrounded by two members of the Shield. Before their gang mentality can take over, Triple H’s music hits as the COO of the company comes out, shouting “ENOUGH!” He shouts that something happening to one of the biggest matches he has signed for Battleground is bad for business. “But if you must get something out of your system then you, Roman Reigns, can go one on one with Erick Rowan right now.”
ERICK ROWAN W/ THE WYATT FAMILY VS. ROMAN REIGNS W/ THE SHIELD; After the commercial break, this math is joined in progress. Roman Reigns and Erick Rowan are trading big blows, being two of the hardest hitting Superstars on the roster. Both guys slug it out, while their respective teammates watch from ringside. It looks as if Luke Harper wants to slide in and get involved, but Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are quick to stare him down and stop him. This allows Reigns to go into a series of moves that set him up for the victory. A Superman punch and Spear lead to Roman scoring the pinfall. Roman Reigns defeats Erick Rowan in 7:39!The WWE Universe gets to their feet, cheering for Roman Reigns’ victory. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins get in the ring with him, as Bray Wyatt looks on, surprisingly seeming stressed out instead of his usual laughing reaction. Luke Harper wants in but Bray stops him, whispering something to him. The Shield dare them to enter, but they refuse. “For tonight at least, a match involving no outside interference gives Roman Reigns a ton of momentum heading into his huge match this Sunday” explains Michael Cole. Alberto Del Rio is shown getting prepared for his match tonight when Triple H comes up to him. He shakes Del Rio’s hand, though the “Mexican Aristocrat” is a bit tentative. Triple H says that he comes in peace. “Over the past few shows, I’ve seen you do some vicious things with that Cross Armbreaker. Tonight, you’re facing Cody Rhodes, who is the number one contender for Bad News Barrett’s United States Title this Sunday. I think we’d like to see him locked in that Armbreaker.” Del Rio thinks it over and says that he’ll do it for two reasons. “One, I really like doing that to people, and two, if I do this for you, you owe me one. Deal?” Triple H gives him a sly look and agrees.
ADAM ROSE VS. DREW MCINTYRE W/ 3MB; Last week, Adam Rose made his debut and defeated the leader of 3MB, Heath Slater. Over the past week he also bested Jinder Mahal, making this his final test of 3MB. He comes out firing, upset about the attack on his Bunny friend this past Friday on Smackdown. McIntyre gets in more offense than his partners did last week, but Rose is ready. He is able to nail the Party Foul to claim the win. Adam Rose defeats Drew McIntyre in 2:22!The party starts up again as Adam Rose and the Exotic Express celebrate the win. 3MB look on at the dancing in disgust as Adam Rose has completed the sweep of them.
In the back, we see Paige warming up for her match next, when her partner, Chris Jericho comes up to her. She greets him and says that she was always a big fan. Jericho responds by kindly thanking her and saying that he’s been a fan of what she’s trying to accomplish within the Divas division. “Girls like Summer Rae are not the kind of girls I want to see with the Divas Title. The title needs more girls like you and less filthy, dirty, disgusting, brutal, bottom feeding, trash bag hoes like Summer.” Paige gets a chuck out of that as they head off for their match, which is next. CHRIS JERICHO AND PAIGE VS. THE MIZ AND SUMMER RAE; A mixed tag match preview of two Battleground matches here. The crowd is firmly into this, as Paige and Chris Jericho are two of the more popular people on the roster. Summer Rae does her best to avoid Paige, while Miz blocks his face at every turn. Jericho makes a mistake when he tries the springboard dropkick and misses. Miz puts the boot to him and looks to be in firm control. Even Summer gets in some cheap shots. Paige eventually gets the tag and fires away on Summer, overwhelming her with a flurry of hard hitting offense. However, Summer is able to pull Paige into a rollup and grab a handful of tights to steal the three count. The Miz and Summer Rae defeat Chris Jericho and Paige in 5:30!Paige is furious, charging at Summer Rae once she’s declared the winner, but the number one contender is able to scurry and avoid the Women’s Champion. Miz greets her outside and pulls her into a hug. Chris Jericho comes up to Paige and consoles her, but judging by the looks on their faces, this is far from over. Miz and Summer Rae have however, gained a ton of momentum heading into Battleground.
Returning, the “Ravishing Russian” Lana and the “Bulgarian Brute” Alexander Rusev make their way to the ring. As they come out, a recap airs of the Alexander Rusev Open Invitational last week, which was answered by Adrian Neville. He would survive the five minutes and win the $5,000 but would anger Rusev. After the recap, Rusev and Lana are in the ring and do not look pleased. Lana says that she’s already made her thoughts clear on the events of last Monday and gets straight to the point by calling out Neville. The NXT Champion’s music hits to a pop as Adrian Neville steps onto the stage with his title around his waist. He enters the ring and comes face to face with Rusev, neither man backing down. Neville has a microphone and speaks, saying that what happened last week was no fluke or travesty. “For over a year now, I’ve been working my butt off in NXT to deserve this title around my waist. I’ve watched you run through Superstar after Superstar, but always felt that if I got the chance, I could survive the five minutes. And you know what? I did just that.” Neville goes on to say that he wanted to make an impact and he did just that. Rusev takes the microphone from Lana and speaks directly to Neville, telling him that all he did last week was survive. “Give me another minute and you would have been humbled like everyone else before you!” Neville looks around and tells Rusev that he’ll face him in an official match at Battleground. “No time limits. Just a winner and a loser. I’ll show you that I’m not just the guy who survived five minutes, but the man that gravity forgot.” The fans cheer but that turns to boos as Rusev slaps Neville across the face. He fires back with some right hands, the fight spilling into the corner. Officials come out to break it up as Neville shows off an ability to go toe to toe with his larger rival. After they’re separated, Lana convinces Rusev to leave the ring. When they get near the aisle, Neville breaks free and hits a gorgeous corkscrew dive outside onto him! “Wow! Neville is indeed the man that gravity forgot” exclaims Michael Cole. The crowd is amazed at the athleticism shown by Neville, but he will need more than just that to become the first man to defeat Rusev at Battleground.
Returning, Daniel Bryan is seen backstage warming up for the main event. CM Punk enters the room, bringing Daniel to his feet. Punk says that he’s not here to fight. “I know that last week, things didn’t end well for us as a team, but tonight is a new night. We are and have been the two best in the world for a long time now so there shouldn’t be any reason why we can’t go out and work together during this gauntlet match tonight.” Bryan agrees, saying that they need to focus on tonight, but reminds Punk that once that’s over, his attention is going to be solely on him. “You held this belt for 434 days, defeating me multiple times during that time frame. There is no way I’m going to let that happen again.” Punk smirks, taps the title and heads off, leaving Bryan to his workout. CESARO AND DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. KANE AND SHEAMUS; During the entrances of the Superstars here, commentary informs us that after Cesaro pinned Sheamus this past Saturday in Osaka, he will be getting a shot at the Intercontinental Championship at Battleground. As for this match, Dolph Ziggler shows a burning desire to get his hands on Kane, still not over Kane costing him the United States Championship a few weeks back. Kane comes in after Sheamus beats on Ziggler and they work him over with some quick tags. When the mild tag comes to Cesaro, he is on absolute fire, delivering a string of high impact offense that gets the crowd roaring. As he sets for the Neutralizer, Sheamus gets on the apron and watches but doesn’t enter, wanting to avoid the Cesaro barrage. Cesaro plants Kane and wins. Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler defeat Kane and Sheamus in 6:27!Cheers rain down from the WWE Universe as Dolph Ziggler enters the ring and raises Cesaro’s hand. Sheamus snatches his Intercontinental Title from ringside and clutches it to his chest. He’s beaten the likes of Big E and Roman Reigns, but there may not be a hotter Superstar in the WWE right now than Cesaro and he gets his opportunity this Sunday in Tampa!
A short video package airs with highlights from “Live in Osaka”. Commentary talks over it, saying that you can catch all of the action on that historic event on demand at any time by using the WWE Network. ALICIA FOX VS. BRIE BELLA W/ NIKKI BELLA; Before the bell, Nikki Bella can be seen trying to motivate her sister, telling her to get mean. Brie Bella seems to get the gist, coming out of the blocks by charging and wiping out Alicia Fox. Nikki is rather impressed by this, as Brie keeps up the aggression through the duration of the contest. Alicia gets in some offense, but it’s not enough. Brie comes off the second rope with the “BRIE MODE” missile dropkick to score the victory. Brie Bella defeats Alicia Fox in 2:46!Nikki Bella enters the ring, clapping for her sister, impressed by the performance. Even Brie Bella seems surprised at herself but Nikki raises her hand and seems to remind her that this was exactly the result they were looking for. Brie realizes this and hugs her sister before they exit the ring.
Renee Young is now standing by with the number one contender to the United States Championship, Cody Rhodes. She asks him for his thoughts on the match tonight, considering he’s facing Alberto Del Rio, who injured his brother last week. Cody says that he is fully focused on getting revenge tonight. “My brother and I have become closer than ever in the past year or so and I will make sure Alberto gets what’s coming to him.” Renee then brings up what Triple H said to Del Rio earlier. Cody reminds us that he is no stranger to being an enemy of the Authority. “They’ve tried to break me before and failed. The same will happen tonight and at Battleground.”
Returning from break, we see Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in their office. With them are Rybaxel, the Age of Enlightenment, and Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam. Stephanie tells them that recently, the Usos have suffered some losses and the tag team division is wide open. “You want to get yourselves in position for a title shot? You go out there and you beat CM Punk and Daniel Bryan during this gauntlet. There’s no way that two individuals should beat a unit that is as in sync as you guys.” Kofi and RVD leave, unhappy at being part of this but they go along knowing that they want another crack at the Tag Titles. The other two teams are more into it, meaning that main event should be interesting. As they leave also, Batista and Randy Orton walk into the picture and look on with upset looks on their faces. ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. CODY RHODES; Bad News Barrett struts out right before the match with his United States Title and the Money in the Bank briefcase to join commentary. This proves to be the most physical match of the evening, with both Cody Rhodes and Alberto Del Rio hitting each other with everything they’ve got. Cody shows more fire than usual, fighting for his brother. Commentary questions Barrett about Triple H’s deal with Del Rio. Barrett responds by saying he had no part in that but understands why Triple H wouldn’t want someone like Cody Rhodes as US Champion. Cody connects on the Disaster Kick and seems to be on the verge of a victory. He sets for the Cross Rhodes, but Del Rio counters and slaps on the Cross Armbreaker. Cody is quick to the ropes, but Del Rio refuses to break the hold. The referee counts to five and calls for the bell. Cody Rhodes defeats Alberto Del Rio via disqualification in 10:45!Bad News Barrett laughs on commentary before removing his headset. Alberto Del Rio continues to refuse to break the hold as Barrett enters the ring and puts the boots to Cody Rhodes. Officials run out to try and save Cody, but Barrett and Del Rio prove to be too much. “Alberto Del Rio is doing exactly what Triple H wanted him to do” shouts Michael Cole. Del Rio finally breaks the hold and gets to his feet. He points down at Cody and winks at Barrett before exiting the ring. Barrett stays in, raising the United States Title high in the air.
The theme of Evolution hits as Batista and Randy Orton step out onto the stage and make their way down to the ring. We are reminded that these two not only put Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam on the shelf for about a week, but they then beat them again this past Saturday in Osaka. They enter the ring and Batista speaks, saying that they saw something earlier that didn’t please them. “Triple H and Stephanie spent their time telling other teams about chances at becoming WWE Tag Team Champions. However, Randy and I have decided that is something that we want. We are out here for one reason and one reason only. We demand a shot at the Tag Team Titles at Battleground!” After a few seconds, the Usos’ music hits as the Tag Team Champions come out onto the stage to a pop from the WWE Universe. Jimmy has a microphone, saying that when they won these titles back in March, it was a dream come true. “For a long time, Jey and I wanted nothing more than to have these titles around our waists. Now that we do, we’ve been fighting champions and that isn’t going to change just because two guys with laundry lists of accolades want a shot. You’re on!” The fans cheer but that soon changes as the Wyatt Family signature hits and we see Luke Harper and Erick Rowan appear on the ramp, between Batista and Orton and the Usos. JBL reminds everyone at home that Harper and Rowan defeated the Usos last week on Raw. Harper and Rowan look at both teams, back and forth, before Harper points up at the Usos and motions for the titles around his waist. “Sierra. Hotel. India. Echo. Lima. Delta. Shield.” The fans come unglued as Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose appear in the stands and walk towards the ring. Ambrose has a microphone and he says that they didn’t want to miss out on any of the fun. “You see, we’ve gone to war with Evolution, we’ve gone to war with the Wyatt Family and we’ve gone to war with the Usos in the past. What I see out here are two teams vying for a shot at the titles, but I also see two teams that have gone down to the Shield. Harper, Rowan…you boys remember Smackdown last Friday don’t you?” Before this can break down any further, Triple H appears on the Titantron and tells everyone to calm down. “Batista and Orton. You guys could have just come to me if you were pissed off about the talk earlier tonight. Instead, you had to go out there and make it public, involving these other teams. Because of that, and the fact that I have to do what’s best for business, I’ve come to a decision. At Battleground, the Usos will defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against Batista and Randy Orton, against the Wyatt Family and against the Shield in a Fatal Four Way match!” The crowd buzzes as the camera goes to commercial after showing each team’s reaction to the news. The Usos seem nervous but ready, Ambrose and Rollins are happy, Batista and Orton are still pissed and the Wyatts remain rather expressionless.
JIMMY USO W/ JEY USO VS. SETH ROLLINS W/ DEAN AMBROSE VS. LUKE HARPER W/ ERICK ROWAN; The show returns with this match already in progress. We are told that Triple H ordered a match between three members of these teams, conveniently leaving his Evolution bandmates out of this. These three guys have a competitive battle, with no one really gaining a major advantage. Luke Harper lays out Jimmy Uso with a huge discus lariat, but can’t capitalize because Seth Rolling springboards in with a huge knee. He covers both guys but can only get near falls on each. He waits for Harper to get to his knees, before delivering a big superkick. Seth attempts the same with Jimmy, who dodges and tries one of his own. Seth avoids that, kicking Jimmy in the stomach. He bounces off the ropes and hits the Curb Stomp for the 1-2-3. Seth Rollins defeats Jimmy Uso and Luke Harper in 5:17!When the bell rings, the camera catches Jey Uso looking disappointed before Dean Ambrose slides into the ring to celebrate with Seth Rollins. Even if it wasn’t a tag team match, pinning one of the Tag Team Champions has to count for something. “Couple this with their win over Luke Harper and Erick Rowan on Smackdown, and you have to think that Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are heading into Battleground with a ton of momentum” says Jerry Lawler.
We go backstage to Renee Young, who is standing by with CM Punk. She asks for his thoughts on teaming with Daniel Bryan just six days before they meet at Battleground, especially considering how their tag match ended last week. Punk says that he feels exactly the way he mentioned earlier to Daniel. They are good friends and can work well as a team, even with what’s coming up. “Last week was a miscue, which happens to even the best of teams. Tonight, we will show the world again why we are the best in the world. Then at Battleground, I show why I’m the very best.”
The music of Bo Dallas hits as he comes out to the ring. Last week, he stayed on the stage but tonight he enters the ring. He starts by saying that last week, he came out to have a moment for silence for the injuries that Rob Van Dam and Kofi Kingston suffered, only for the WWE Universe to not pay their respects. “I said that you people stunk but I’m out here to apologize about that. I honestly didn’t mean it. I was in a bad mood and I let my emotions get the best of me. I love each and every single one of you. You are my Bolievers.” He turns his attention to a hot topic, which is the Alexander Rusev Open Invitational. He claims that if he had taken the challenge, he would have won the $5,000 a long time ago, but says that he doesn’t do things for fortune. He says that he feels for everyone who failed in defeating Rusev and wants to do a moment of silence for those. He Tebows again like last week, but the moment is cut off by theme of the Big Show. The fans cheer since we haven’t seen Show since Extreme Rules, when he lost to Alexander Rusev. Bo sees that Show means business and once he enters the ring, Bo begins to apologize. “Hey Show. Welcome back. I want you to know, that when I was talking about people that lost to Rusev, I didn’t mean you. I meant-.“ We never hear what Bo meant though as Show just knocks him out with the WMD. The fans pop as Show raises his hand and screams, letting us all know that he’s back. CM PUNK AND DANIEL BRYAN’S TAG TEAM GAUNTLET; First up in this gauntlet is the tandem of Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam. Unlike the other teams involved in this, RVD and Kingston shake hands with their opponents and they have a respect based back and forth contest. Both teams get a fair amount of near falls and they work through a commercial break. After about seven minutes of action, Punk is able to pin his buddy Kingston with the GTS. The next team out is the Age of Enlightenment, who haven’t seen much time on Raw. They work over Punk for a bit, using Damien Sandow’s smarts and Titus O’Neil’s power to their advantage. Daniel Bryan gets the tag and comes in hot before pinning Sandow with the Busaiku Knee. Rybaxel come out as the final challengers and prove to be a problem. Punk has a history with both guys and is able to win this with the GTS on Axel. At least that’s what we think. As Punk and Bryan celebrate, Evolution’s theme hits and Batista and Orton appear on stage. The exhausted tandem of Punk and Bryan take on the team they lost to last week and struggle mightily considering their level of exhaustion. Batista and Orton just pick apart Punk and Bryan, who, like last week, make a mistake and bump into each other. Orton goes for the RKO that won the match last week but Punk blocks it. Bryan also counters the Batista Bomb and sets for another Busaiku Knee. Instead, Bad News Barrett, Kane and Sheamus run down and attack Punk and Bryan. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan win the gauntlet via disqualification in 24:36!The numbers advantage does not stay in favor of the Authority for long though as equalizers soon show up. Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and Cody Rhodes, in a sling, all run out and we’ve got a pier six brawl. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are down from everything. Batista and Randy Orton help their Authority buddies until the Usos charge the ring and go after them. This just continues to get out of hand as Luke Harper and Erick Rowan run out, only for Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to do the same. The massive brawl spills to the outside and into the crowd for some. The only guys left in the ring as Punk and Bryan, who slowly get to their feet. Cesaro lights up Sheamus with uppercuts on the outside, while the four tag teams in the Tag Team Title match at Battleground brawl all through the stands. Cody Rhodes, Bad News Barrett, Kane and Dolph Ziggler pair off in the aisle as well. Bryan and Punk get in each other’s face, ready to come to blows. They actually strike each other at the same time and trade blows in the middle of the ring. The crowd is on their feet for all of this as this giant war is still going on to close Raw. RAW BACKSTAGE PASS EXCLUSIVE; As Raw ends, fans switch over to the WWE Network to see the carnage continue. During the continuation of the brawl, the cameras cut backstage where we see Roman Reigns unconscious, while Bray Wyatt sits with him and caresses his hair. Bray is humming “Hush Little Baby”. When things cut back to the Backstage Pass panel, Josh Matthews says that people were wondering where Roman Reigns was during all of this and it looks like the eerie Bray Wyatt got to him first.

Kev feels like I haven't replied to this in a while mainly due to time and the fact that we don't seem to have a reply for reply relationship which is fine but I do like to check this out every now and again.
Everyone seems to be rushing out the Japan Network special and putting their own spin on it I really would have enjoyed to sit down to the special that you put on it would have been book ended by two great matches.
Looking forward to the battleground card it's really caught my eye 3/4 matches on that show would be great like how it's also starting to take your direction too.
Will give a more detailed reply to the Pay per View

Kickoff Match set for WWE Battleground! With the second annual WWE Battleground just a few short days away, one final match has been signed. On Main Event about a month ago, Dolph Ziggler lost his United States Championship to Bad News Barrett due to outside interference from Kane. Since then, Dolph has made it clear that he wants to get his hands on the Director of Operations. The two will finally meet on the Battleground Kickoff show, which you can see on the WWE Network at 7PM Eastern time this Sunday night!

Alright, I'm a bit behind on this reply and I'm usually on top of this bitch like Cena on Nikki. Yeah, I said it. A solid opening promo to set the stage for the opening contest with Roman Reigns going over Erick Rowan, rightfully. I do think Reigns wins on Sunday, but I also believe Rowan and Harper could win the tag titles. So... Triple H owes Del Rio one, eh? Kind of like how Booker T owes Orton one ten years later, eh? EH!? Adam Rose continues to beat out 3MB, nothing major. I'd like to see Rose get some attitude eventually. Filthy, dirty, disgusting, brutal, bottom feeding, trash bag hoes! #MarkOut. The Miz and Summer Rae beating Jericho and Paige doesn't really surprise me. I see Paige retaining easily and Miz pulling off the win over Y2J and obviously, that is the more unpredictable contest. Well, at least that is how I see it, bruh. Intrigued by Rusev facing Neville at Battleground. I do hope Rusev gets the win in the end, though, seeing as how the five minute challenge is out the window. Cesaro plants Kane and wins? Well, good win for Cesaro and Ziggler and, unlike some certain reality bookers, you had Kane eat the pin. Ziggler and Kane facing in the Kickoff - in the later announcement - is fine I suppose, obvious win for Ziggy there. Brie Bella beating Alicia Fox was what it was for me. Cody Rhodes losing via disqualification was good with Del Rio doing what he was asked to do. BNB now has the upper hand going in to Sunday with that! I still see Rhodes being the one to take the title at some point. Maybe not at Battleground, but some point. Batista and Randy Orton are pissed and that is what they get - a fatal four way at Battleground, which looks really good. It also set up a good triple threat to follow with Seth Rollins getting the win over Jimmy Uso and Luke Harper. I said earlier I think Harper and Rowan are a possible team to take the titles, but the other two are very good candidates to be new champs as well. Hey, Big Show is back! Yay I guess. Bo actually getting a feud out of this could be good for him, though, I suppose. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan run the gauntlet and after surviving Kingston/RVD, Age of Enlightenment and Rybaxel, they get stuck with Batista and Orton. The Authority attacking was a good way to end it, a well as the chaos of everybody else getting involved. I really liked how everything tied together at the end to finish off this good go-home Raw to Battleground.

WWE NXT: July 17th, 2014 – Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida
Following the signature WWE intro, we go straight to the NXT weekly intro video. Once we cut to the rocking Full Sail Arena, our commentary team of Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and William Regal introduce the show, promising not only a big night ahead of us, but a look at the historic even in Osaka, Japan which featured an NXT Title match. NON-TITLE MATCH: THE ASCENSION VS. JASON JORDAN AND TYE DILLINGER; The roar of the NXT Universe is heard as the Ascension appear for a non-title match. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger have shown some promise as a tag team in recent weeks, but this is the Ascension we’re talking about. Despite some early offense by the unsung duo, the dominant Tag Team Champions take control. They cut Dillinger in half with the Fall of Man, scoring the pinfall. The Ascension defeat Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger in 3:52!The Ascension pose after their win, before Konnor grabs a microphone. He says that they watched Sami Zayn’s futile effort in the tag team division last week. Viktor takes the microphone and says that Sami proved that he is no threat to their titles. “I hear you’re going to find another partner next week. Just give up Sami. Even if you manage to find someone that works with you, we will destroy you.” Konnor ends the promo with “WE ARE THE ASCENSION and if you face us, it will be total anni-YAH-lation.”
An advertisement airs to promote Battleground. This Sunday on Pay-Per-View and on the WWE Network, CM Punk gets his first shot at the WWE Title in over a year when he meets Daniel Bryan!
A short video package is shown, first showing the formation of the BFFs. We then see Charlotte turn her back on Bayley before joining the BFFs. Charlotte winning the NXT Women’s Title at TakeOver is the next highlight before Summer Rae returned and things took a turn for the worse. After Charlotte defeated Bayley and hugged her, Summer and Sasha felt that she got soft. The BFFS seem to no longer be on the same page and have imploded from within. BAYLEY VS. SUMMER RAE; As noted in the video package, ever since Bayley and Charlotte embraced after their match a few weeks back, Summer Rae has pointed to that as her reasoning for thinking Charlotte had gone soft. Innocent Bayley offers a handshake, but it’s met with a slap from the BFF originator. Summer continues to play the aggressor throughout this match, though Bayley is able to rally with some dropkicks and elbows in the corner. Bayley tries to come off the second rope with an elbow but Summer dodges it. Once Bayley gets to her feet, Summer hits the summer crush and wins. Summer Rae defeats Bayley in 4:17!The fans in Full Sail boo loudly as Summer Rae stands up and demands the referee raise her arm more than once. She wipes her boots on the mat, right in the face of the fallen Bayley. Summer shouts something about “doing it on her own”, which is basically what Sasha Banks said last week after her win.
An advertisement airs for the WWE Shop. Various Superstars, Divas and fans are shown wearing official WWE merchandise, set to the tune of “Jungle” by Jamie N Commons. Backstage, Devin Taylor is standing by with Evan Bourne, who made his return last week. She asks him about his feelings being back in the ring. Evan says that it was liberating to get back in the ring. “After all of the injuries that I suffered, I would sit at home and honestly wonder if I’d ever make it back. But as you saw last week, I did just that. I feel reborn and it’s a beautiful feeling.” As he says that, we hear an off camera voice say “did someone say beautiful thing?” Tyler Breeze enters the picture, looking at himself in his phone. “You must be talking about me.” When Bourne says that he wasn’t, Tyler looks up at him, seemingly just noticing him. He gives a disgusted look, saying something about NXT letting just anybody in these days. “How old even are you?” asks Tyler. Before Evan responds, Tyler says he doesn’t care and walks off, leaving both Evan and Devin confused. CJ PARKER VS. KALISTO; One of the top stars in NXT since his debut has been Kalisto. The fans look forward to each of his matches due to his high flying style. CJ Parker knows this and wisely does his best to ground Kalisto from the start. He wears him down, focusing on the back of the masked Superstar. Kalisto is able to wriggle free of his grasp and nail a pretty springboard corkscrew attack for a near fall. Kalisto sets himself behind Parker for his finisher, but CJ counters with a snapmare and loud kick to the back. He goes for a palm strike but Kalisto ducks it and goes to school boy him, but rolls through with a kick to the head. He finishes CJ off with the Salida Del Sol. Kalisto defeats CJ Parker in 6:01!
A huge cheer erupts from the stands as Kalisto picks up a win. Tom Phillips mentions that after a few recent losses, Kalisto needed this to get back on track. He throws his hands in the air as the crowd chants “LU-CHA” along with them.
We go backstage where Devin Taylor is with Sami Zayn. She asks for his thoughts on what the Ascension said earlier tonight. He admits that they were right about one thing. “I failed last week. And let me get one thing clear, I am not blaming Oliver Grey. He gave it his all just like I did, but it didn’t work. That’s fine, I’m looking for a new partner for next week. What the Ascension did get wrong however, is saying that they’ll destroy me. I’ve proven time and time again that no matter how many times I’ve been knocked down, I get back up.” Sami says that he will not rest until he wins some gold in NXT.
An ad airs to promote Saturday Night’s Main Event being available on the WWE Network. You can catch every episode of the legendary show from the 1980’s anytime you want on demand! Once again, Devin Taylor is standing by, this time with Tyson Kidd and Natalya. She asks them about their tough losses at “Live in Osaka” this past Saturday. Natalya speaks first, saying that her loss was tough but she respects Paige as a competitor and there’s no shame in losing to her. Tyson cuts in, telling her that’s a load of crap. “There’s no shame in losing? Of course there is Nattie. We lost. You aren’t Women’s Champion and I’m not the NXT Champion. Where does that leave us? Reality TV stars? I know I’m the star of Total Divas, but that’s not enough for me. I need to win. I’m the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon and shouldn’t be losing these matches. Neither should you and it definitely shouldn’t be okay with you.” Tyson storms off, leaving Natalya at a loss for words. MASON RYAN VS. ELIAS SAMPSON; Much like his return to the ring a few weeks ago, Mason Ryan looks to make quick work of his opponent. Elias Sampson makes the mistake of slapping Ryan at the bell, leading to him just getting his head taken off with a clothesline. He picks up Sampson before dropping him with a cobra clutch slam for the 1-2-3. Mason Ryan defeats Elias Sampson in 0:27!
Mason Ryan raises to cheers from the fans as he once again dominates tonight. “This seems to be a much more focused Mason Ryan than we saw in the WWE years ago. There’s something different about him this time around” says William Regal.
A vignette airs for the Vaudevillains. It’s in the form of an old school black and white silent film. The words they say appear on screen throughout. The video involves Aiden English and Simon Gotch doing various feats of strength, including Gotch fighting a grizzly bear and English lifting a “one ton” weight. The end of the video tells us that the training is in preparation to one day wear the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Now, some quick highlights are shown from “Live in Osaka”. The focus is on Sami Zayn’s great match against the legendary Chris Jericho, as well as Adrian Neville retaining the NXT Championship over Tyson Kidd. We are reminded that those matches can be seen anytime on demand on the WWE Network. Cutting back to the arena, Adrian Neville’s music hits as the NXT Champion comes out to join commentary for the main event. COREY GRAVES VS. JUSTIN GABRIEL; A veteran on the main roster by now, Justin Gabriel continues to try and right the ship of his career here in NXT. Corey Graves meanwhile, has been on a pretty aggressive vicious streak as of late. He immediately targets the leg of WWE’s resident daredevil. William Regal points out how wise that strategy considering Gabriel’s penchant for flying around the ring and Graves’ Lucky 13 submission. Gabriel is able to make a bit of a comeback, but he can’t complete a springboard move, due to the leg work. Graves sees him writhing on the mat in pain, holding his leg. Like a shark smelling blood, he moves over and locks in the Lucky 13. Gabriel tries to fight, but succumbs to the pain. Corey Graves defeats Justin Gabriel in 11:20!
As the crowd boos, Corey Graves stands and stares a hole through Adrian Neville at the commentary booth. He gets on the second rope, looking in his direction and shows off his “STAY DOWN” tattoos. It looks like Graves still has his sights set on the NXT Championship and Adrian Neville looks ready for the challenge.

Friday Night Smackdown: July 18th, 2014 – Crown County Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina
Tonight, things go straight into the weekly Smackdown video package after the WWE Signature. Michael Cole and John “Bradshaw” Layfield welcome the viewers at home to another exciting episode of one of the longest running shows in television history. They promise a huge show, kicked off by one of the longest running talk shows in WWE history. The ring is set up for the Highlight Reel and pyro explodes on the stage, bringing Chris Jericho to the stage. The fans stay on their feet as he steps out onto the stage. Michael Cole informs us that the Highlight Reel hasn’t been held in over a year. He gets in the ring and welcomes the fans to “SMACKDOWN IS JERICHO!” Jericho apologizes to viewers for having to endure MizTV last week. “The Miz put his best foot forward with his show last week but it just didn’t work and you want to know why? It’s because the guy is not what he says he is. He’s not some multi-media Superstar like he claims to be. He has proven time and time again to just be a charisma vacuum.” The fans laugh at this dig, before Jericho brings out his guest for the show, his tag team partner from this past Monday, Paige. The WWE Women’s Champion comes out to a major pop from the WWE Universe as she enters the ring and hugs Jericho before taking a seat. Chris thanks her for being on the show, saying she oozes much more charisma than the Miz or Summer Rae. He asks her questions about being the Women’s Champion over the Divas Champion. Paige responds by saying that she meant no disrespect to the Divas Title as winning it was an accomplishment, but she wanted to do things a little differently because that’s who she is. Jericho respects that but before they can continue the conversation, “AWESOMEEEE” is heard. The fans boo as the Miz and Summer Rae step through the curtain and onto the stage. Miz sarcastically applauds the Highlight Reel before going into his trademark “really?” “Really? You honestly believe that the Highlight Reel is better than MizTV? You say that I have no charisma. Are you kidding me? Chris, you were a big star once but now you’re just a has been. If you recall, I was the most must see WWE Champion in history.” Jericho chimes in saying that it sounds like Miz is the has been. Miz takes offense to that before bringing up the fact that he and Summer beat Paige and Jericho on Monday. Paige dares Summer to try it again tonight, challenging them to a mixed tag rematch. The crowd pops but Miz and Summer decline. She takes the microphone, saying that she has the upper hand after pinning Paige on Raw. “I’m not getting back into the ring with you until I have to and when I do, I will dethrone you at Battleground and bring back the Divas Championship. I get that you’re sad about not being worthy of being a true Diva, but your little Cinderella story ends Sunday.” Jericho cuts in, saying that Miz and Summer are obviously scared of facing them again, but he promises that this Sunday, after he and Paige beat them, they will never EEEEEVER be the same again! He throws the microphone down as his music hits, leaving Miz and Summer looking on with cocky, but slightly worried expressions. ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. CESARO; After striking a deal with Triple H on Raw, Alberto Del Rio tried to injure Cody Rhodes just six days before he faces Bad News Barrett. It seems as if the Authority has set their sights on Sheamus’ opponent for Battleground, Cesaro. Sheamus is on commentary for this match, denying any part in a plan against Cesaro. The Swiss Superman is wise to avoid getting put into the Cross Armbreaker, fearing that maybe Del Rio will once again refuse to let it go. He gets close on one occasion, but Cesaro locks his hands together, blocking the move from being completed. At this point, Sheamus gets up from commentary and runs into the ring, clubbing Cesaro to cause the DQ. Cesaro defeats Alberto Del Rio via disqualification in 12:28!
Alberto Del Rio breaks his attempt at the hold as Sheamus stomps away on Cesaro. Sheamus points at Cesaro and wants Del Rio to put the submission on. He looks at him and can be heard saying that his part of the deal was to rough Cesaro up during the match. Sheamus tries to order him to do it and Del Rio says he doesn’t take orders from Sheamus. Officials run down at this point and get in between them and Cesaro, preventing any real damage from occurring. R-TRUTH W/ XAVIER WOODS VS. DAMIEN SANDOW W/ TITUS O’NEIL; The rivalry between these units has been mostly focused on Main Event, but it moves to Smackdown tonight in a big way. Damien Sandow and Titus O’Neil, known as the Age of Enlightenment, have been trying to recruit Xavier Woods and his PHD. Woods’ friend R-Truth has been on the receiving end of more than few of their attacks. Here, he tries using his quickness against Sandow, and has the upper hand for a while. Titus distracts the ref as he nears the win, only for Woods to sneak in and lay him out with the Honor Roll! Sandow follows with the Elbow of Disdain before pinning Truth to win. Damien Sandow defeats R-Truth in 3:38!“What the hell did Xavier Woods do that for?” asks Michael Cole. Xavier Woods looks at Damien Sandow before walking over and raising his arm in victory. Titus O’Neil joins them in the ring, celebrating a win over the fallen R-Truth. It looks like the Age of Enlightenment has just gotten stronger and wiser.
A vignette is shown to chronicle the career of Adrian Neville. It shows some of his career on the independent scene under the name PAC. We see his debut on NXT as well as the two NXT Tag Team Title victories that he’s had. His NXT Title win at ArRival is highlighted before he talks about how proud he is to be a major part of the revolution that is NXT. He lastly focuses on Alexander Rusev and says that he knew he could not only survive the Open Invitational, but that he could be the guy to beat him, which he plans on doing this Sunday. After the video, a graphic appears to tell us that Neville has his first official match later tonight! BO DALLAS VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER; Yesterday, it was announced that Dolph Ziggler will finally get his hands on the Director of Operations, Kane on the Battleground Kickoff show. Tonight, he faces Bo Dallas, who has only suffered one loss since coming to the main roster, but was knocked out by the Big Show this past Monday on Raw. After a few minutes of back and forth action, Bo tries for the Bo and Arrow submission, but Dolph slips free and rolls him up for two. They get up at the same time and Dolph strikes with a vicious superkick. That, coupled with a Zig Zag is enough to score the pinfall. Dolph Ziggler defeats Bo Dallas in 5:59!Dolph Ziggler exits the ring to a huge cheer from the WWE Universe in Fayetteville. While heading up the ramp, he is heard screaming that he’s coming for Kane and then he’s coming for gold.
Returning from a commercial break, “Smoke and Mirrors” plays as Cody Rhodes walks out with his arm in a sling after what Alberto Del Rio and Bad News Barrett did to him this past Monday. He enters the ring and the fans’ positive response dies down, allowing him to speak. He starts by saying that when he decided to take a journey as a solo guy again, it wasn’t to split the Brotherhood or anything like that. “My original intentions were just to right the ship of losing matches. I only wanted to win a few and then go back to teaming with my brother. Instead, the opportunity at a United States Title shot came about and I won it. Now, I have my shot this Sunday but my arm is banged up and Goldust is out of action. Maybe we should have just stuck to tagging.” The fans boo this, but Cody continues saying he thought about that, but realized this is the right course of action. “My arm may be in a sling right now, but by this Sunday, it will be off and I will win that United States Championship. I’ll do it for my brother, I’ll do it for my family name and I’ll do it for me.” After the crowd pops for that, Cody goes on to say that Bad News Barrett has been red hot so far this year, but nothing will get in the way of him capturing the US Title that his father and brother won. The passion in Cody’s eyes as he says these things brings the fans to their feet. Suddenly, the music of Goldust hits as he comes down to the ring with his arm in a sling. He gets inside and is handed a microphone. He says that he isn’t out here to steal any thunder from his brother, but he’s out here to give him support. “I admit that I wasn’t big on the idea of us going solo for a while at first, but you’ve been making me so proud in recent weeks. I’m out here tonight to let you know that this Sunday at Battleground, while I may not be medically cleared to compete, I will be in your corner and by your side!” The crowd pops for this as Cody is surprised and hugs his brother. Goldust raises Cody’s hand in the air, giving Cody a big boost that he needed heading into Battleground. ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. FANDANGO W/ LAYLA; On Raw two weeks ago, Adrian Neville wowed the audience with his incredible aerial ability. Tonight, the “man that gravity forgot” lives up to the nickname, taking to the skies quickly to overwhelm WWE’s resident dancer. He is forced to regroup on the outside with Layla, but Neville greets him with a major corkscrew dive onto him. Back inside, he continues to show off, as this match seems to be here to give him a stage to strut his stuff. Fandango does get a few near falls on some of his offense, but Neville gets a really close one on a reverse hurricanrana. He climbs up and nails the Red Arrow, getting the 1-2-3. Adrian Neville defeats Fandango in 4:48!The excited crowd in Fayetteville applaud the victory for the NXT Champion, as he picks up even more steam going into arguably the biggest match of his career this Sunday. He runs up to the second turnbuckle and poses for the WWE Universe. “Judging by his recent performances, Adrian Neville looks like a serious threat to become the first person to defeat the Bulgarian Brute” says JBL.
Going backstage, Renee Young is standing by with Randy Orton. She asks him for his thoughts on facing one of his six opponents for Battleground tonight. He responds by first saying that there is no way he and Batista don’t walk out of Battleground as the new Tag Team Champions. “Between the two of us there are 18 World Titles. The rest of those guys in the match have combined for zero. We are the elite Superstars in the WWE and we’ll prove it once again Battleground, just like I’ll prove it to Seth Rollins tonight.”
A promo airs to promote Total Divas, as season one is available on demand on the WWE Network! NIKKI BELLA W/ BRIE BELLA VS. TAMINA SNUKA; Nikki Bella has been leading her sister down a path of being a mean girl, and Brie showed a mean streak in a win on Monday. She watches as her sister goes up against arguably the strongest Diva in the division. Tamina tosses her around shortly after the bell, but the cunning Nikki is able to rake the eyes and swing the momentum. In a rather impressive show of strength, she hoists Tamina onto her shoulders before dropping with the aptly named Rack Attack to pick up the win in short order. Nikki Bella defeats Tamina Snuka in 2:12!
Brie Bella enters the ring, looking impressed and raises her sister’s arm in the air. Nikki Bella has a serious look on her face as she stares down at Tamina. One has to admit that while Nikki and Brie have both fallen short against Paige in the past, but this newfound aggression of theirs has to make them serious contenders in the future.
A video package now airs that showcases the history between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, set to the song “Revolution” by the Used. We see footage of both guys during their time on the independent wrestling scene, where both guys made a big name for themselves. As they are shown moving through the ranks and making their debuts in the WWE, both guys do voiceovers, talking about how they feel like they were part of a revolution of sorts. Guys like them were often overlooked, but both men have found tremendous success on the big stage of the WWE. The video ends when Punk reminds everybody of the last two times he faced Bryan on PPV, with us seeing clips of Punk defeating him at Over the Limit and Money in the Bank 2012. Bryan’s voiceover from Raw where he says he won’t let that happen again is heard.
Before going to commercial, we see an old school handheld camera promo from the Shield. Dean Ambrose says that they heard Randy Orton earlier and they get the gist. “Yea, Seth and I haven’t won any World Titles yet but you fail to see what means the most at Battleground Randall. For a year and a half, when it comes to team situation, there is nobody better than the Shield.” Seth takes over saying that tonight, Seth proves that that the Shield can dominate as individuals just like the way they dominate as a unit. “Tonight, I beat you Randy and this Sunday, Dean and I walk out as the new Tag Team Champions.” The camera moves over to Roman Reigns, who keeps it short, “The Authority. The Wyatt Family. It doesn’t matter. Tonight and at Battleground, you will believe in the Shield.” RANDY ORTON W/ BATISTA VS. SETH ROLLINS W/ DEAN AMBROSE AND ROMAN REIGNS; During the huge Evolution/Shield rivalry, these two faced off in different kinds of matches a few times, meaning they know a fair amount about each other. That allows both guys to counter the other’s moves at a rapid pace. Seth Rollins scores with some near falls on a springboard knee and a buckle bomb, while Orton gets some on his trademark backbreaker and powerslam. He goes for the rope hung DDT, but Seth slips free and rolls him up for two. Orton gets up and tries for the RKO but Seth shoves him off and into the corner. Orton stumbles out into a big kick from Seth, who follows it with the Curb Stomp! That flurry of offense is enough to earn him the win over the multi-time World Champion. Seth Rollins defeats Randy Orton in 12:41!Quickly, Seth Rollins rolls out of the ring, weary of a potential attack from Batista but that never comes. Batista looks on, frustrated as the Shield post together on the outside. The Tag Team Titles are on the line this Sunday, with these two teams looking like favorites.

SmackDown kicks off big with a Highlight Reel. I how you used the segment to further the Divas feud; gets me invested in a Summer Rae match for the first time. Cesaro vs Del Rio was cool and the post match shenanigans did a quality job of preparing for the midcard title matches at Battleground. The Age of Enlightenment adding Xavier Woods is a fine detail and I'm glad Woods is doing something. I'm also glad Sandow still has his intellectual gimmick and he and Woods would be great together. Dolph beating Bo was fine and it gives Ziggler some momentum going into his match with Kane. Cody's promo was nice and Goldust being in his corner on Sunday should be good--methinks it will lead to Goldy turning on his little brother. Good stuff with Neville and Fandango--showcases him finely. I don't expect him to beat Rusev just yet but he's looking good right now. I see Nikki is positioning herself as the next contender to Paige. Oh joy. It's you booking it however and I'm sure you have an ulterior motive with it so I'm fine with it. The main event was solid and the tag title match looks stacked. Can't wait to see how everything unfolds at Battleground my friend.

Alright, Smack it Down. Chris Jericho has started off Smackdown a bit since returning, eh? I liked how we got promotion for the Women's Championship match, while also obviously incorporating The Miz and Jericho's feud. Nicely done. Fun segment. Cesaro winning via disqualification thanks to Sheamus was fine by me, Del Rio looks like a mo'fo'in class A a-hole and I dig it. Xavier Woods joining The Age of Enlightenment could be good, given his intelligence, but I'm curious as to how these guys will fair as it is an interesting team... and by interesting I mean interesting. I liked Adrian Neville getting some promotion about his NXT career and how he has reached to the top level, being in WWE. Hs first official match later tonight sounds fun. Dolph Ziggler, of course, had to beat Bo Dallas. It seems that Bo isn't somebody worth Bo-lieving in anymore... I liked the promo from Cody Rhodes and the vote of confidence from his brother. You've taken a different approach to The Rhodes Brothers splitting up as a peaceful way, which is different but cool. Although... maybe they'll hate each other down the road. We'll see. Adrain Neville was obviously going over Fandango but I don't see him beating Rusev at Battleground... well, I do, but don't. I don't know! We'll see. Nikki Bella beating Tamina Snuka was what it was. The Bella Twins seem to be kind of floating before something big happens for them... must be the fake jugs on Nikki making them float. Badumtsh. Advancing forward to the main event, it was good to see Seth Rollins get a win over Randy Orton in the main event and promoting the tag title match at Battleground. A good edition of Smackdown going in to Battleground, which I'm looking forward to - especially because I smell somethin' fishy going down with the main event but just can't figure out that stench.

Mountain Dew Kickstart presents the Battleground Kickoff show! After a shot of fans filing into the arena in Tampa before going to our Kickoff show panel. Tonight’s panel includes the lovely Renee Young, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, the “Analyst” Alex Riley and “Captain Charisma” Christian. They run through some of tonight’s card, with the main focus being on the WWE Championship match. Booker and Riley pick CM Punk to become the new champion, while Christian predicts that Daniel Bryan will retain the gold. After some video packages air to promote some of these matches, we go backstage to Tom Phillips in the Social Media Lounge. His guest is the WWE Women’s Champion herself, Paige, who answers some questions from fans that were sent in via Twitter. She is asked about her dream opponent, which she answers with Trish Stratus and is asked how she plans on winning tonight, to which she says she wants to make Summer Rae tap out to the PTO. Following that, we are sent to a video clip of Kane costing Dolph Ziggler the United States Championship on Main Event last month, leading to our Kickoff match tonight.
DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. KANE; The crowd is buzzing for the arrival of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy winner. Dolph Ziggler kisses it before entering the ring and awaiting the arrival of the Director of Operations. With both guys in opposite corners as the bell rings, Ziggler charges and nails a big Stinger splash like attack. “King, Dolph Ziggler isn’t wasting any time here tonight” shouts Michael Cole. He fires away with a flurry of right hands before Kane shoves him off and knocks him down with a clothesline. The “Big Corporate” Machine begins to try and wear down the “Showoff” with a side slam, snake eyes and just picks him apart with power based offense. He calls for the Chokeslam, drawing boos from the fans, but Ziggler counters in midair into a huge DDT. “What a counter” exclaims Jerry Lawler. Ziggler bangs on the mat, bringing the fans to clap, rallying him. He gets to his feet at the same time as Kane, striking with a loud superkick. Kane stumbles but doesn’t fall, so Ziggler connects on a second that turns Kane around. Ziggler leaps high and plants him with the Zig Zag for the win. Dolph Ziggler defeats Kane in 5:40!
The “Showoff” leaps to his feet and beats his chest as the fans roar in approval. He can be heard shouting “DAMN I’M GOOD” as he finally is able to gain some revenge on the Director of Operations for causing him to lose his United States Title. Dolph Ziggler picks up his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy and heads up the aisle with it, giving himself and these fans something to cheer about to kick off tonight’s event.
The official Pay-Per-View broadcast opens with a video package, chronicling the careers of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. It’s set to the song "Revolution" by The Used We see footage of both guys during their time on the independent wrestling scene, where both guys made a big name for themselves. Michael Cole, Jerry “The King Lawler” and John “Bradshaw” Layfield introduce the show as the camera pans over the jam packed Tampa Bay Times Forum! The crowd is rowdy as we go to the ring for our opening contest.
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP – SHEAMUS (C) VS. CESARO; For the second straight Pay-Per-View, an Intercontinental Championship match opens the broadcast. Just like last time, this features two of the tougher, harder hitting Superstars on the roster. Right at the bell, the two meet in the center of the ring and instantly begin to trade blows. Cesaro strikes with some vicious European uppercuts, while Sheamus retaliates with brutal hammer like shots to the chest. Both men are beat red within minutes of this affair. “One of these guys might get knocked out before there’s even a pin” says John “Bradshaw” Layfield. Sheamus gains the upper hand with the Irish Curse backbreaker. He delivers some high knee lifts and a fallaway slam for a near fall. Sheamus sets for the Beats of the Bodhran, but Cesaro catches one of the shots and holds it in place. He turns himself around, punching Sheamus and switches places with him. With Sheamus on the apron, Cesaro gets to the second rope and dead lifts suplexes him back into the ring. “He really is like Superman” says Michael Cole. That is only enough to earn him a two count, so Cesaro goes right into a dead lift gutwrench suplex from the kick out. He sets for the swing, bringing the WWE Universe to their feet. Sheamus counters by kicking Cesaro away into the corner. He charges in, but Cesaro moves and climbs up, going for ten corner punches. Before he connects on the tenth, Sheamus walks out with him and plants him with a huge powerbomb for a near fall. Sheamus gets to his feet first, beating his chest while shouting “BROGUE!” He tries it but Cesaro ducks and nails a popup uppercut for two. Cesaro is in disbelief that he was unable to win. With Sheamus on his knees, Cesaro straight up slaps him, before reeling off about ten more in a row. He goes for a kick but Sheamus dodges and quickly strikes with the Brogue Kick. Sheamus covers to secure the win. Sheamus defeats Cesaro to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in 14:18!
The Tampa Bay Times Forum boos loudly as Sheamus has once again found a way to win and remain the Intercontinental Champion. He is handed the title, which he raises high in the air and stands on the middle turnbuckle. You don’t have to like the “Celtic Warrior”, but credit has to be given to him for withstanding the superb effort by Cesaro and prevailing. Who, if anyone, can take the Intercontinental Championship from him?
Following the opening contest, we go backstage to Tom Phillips, who introduces his guest, Cody Rhodes. The number one contender for the WWE United States Championship comes into the screen, flanked by his brother Goldust. Tom questions him about his feelings going into the match tonight. Cody says that it’s something he’s been waiting a long time for. “I’ve been a Tag Team Champion and I’ve been Intercontinental Champion but the United States Championship is something I want even more. I’m the only member of my family to not hold it and nothing Bad News Barrett plans on doing is going to stop that from happening.”
CHRIS JERICHO VS. THE MIZ W/ SUMMER RAE; Before the bell rings, the Miz attacks, kicking Chris Jericho in the back of the leg. He pounds away on it, continuing a relentless assault on Jericho’s leg. “I think the Miz wants to make Jericho, a submission expert, tap out to his figure four” says Jerry Lawler. Summer Rae cheers him on outside, before Jericho is able to fire back with some chops. He lights up Miz’s chest with them, before whipping him into the opposite corner. Miz flips over and onto the apron like he’s Ric Flair or something, so Jericho connects on his trademark springboard dropkick. Due to the work on his leg though, he’s unable to capitalize, and Miz is actually first to get up. Seeing that he has this in hand, he goes back to stomping on the leg and wearing it down with some lesser submissions. He locks in the Figure Four, leading some fans to chant “please don’t tap”. Jericho is unable to reach the ropes, but turns the move over, putting the pressure on Miz. He makes it to the ropes and looks pissed. He gets behind Jericho and tries for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Jericho rolls through into a pin attempt for two. Once Miz kicks out though, Jericho instantly goes into a Walls of Jericho attempt. The crowd comes to their feet but Summer gets on the apron. Jericho gets it on but when he notices Summer distracting the ref, he lets go and plants a huge kiss on her. Miz sneaks up with a rollup but Jericho kicks out. When they get up, he hits the Codebreaker for the 1-2-3. Chris Jericho defeats the Miz in 8:01!
Chris Jericho gets to his feet along with the WWE Universe. He limps to the corner and poses for the fans in celebration. Summer Rae is wiping her mouth outside, looking on at Jericho with fury in her eyes. Once he exits the ring, she enters to check on Miz, who is pretty dazed.
Backstage, we see CM Punk preparing for tonight’s main event match. He seems to be studying film of what looks like his match against Daniel Bryan from Over the Limit 2012. The cameras cut to see Daniel Bryan also warming up, with some shadow boxing. They clash tonight with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line tonight!
WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP – BAD NEWS BARRETT (C) VS. CODY RHODES W/ GOLDUST; Since going solo, Cody Rhodes has been red hot. Here, he quickly gets in the driver’s seat, winning out as he and Bad News Barrett take to the mat. Barrett is not pleased with this and takes a breather on the outside, gathering his thoughts. Cody goes by the ropes to try and grab him, but Barrett suckers him in and sweeps him up before pulling him outside. “This is not where Cody Rhodes wants to be, Barrett has the upper hand if this gets extra physical” explains JBL. Barrett drops him throat first onto the guardrail and whips him into it. Goldust comes over to check on his brother but Barrett warns him to stay back. Once inside, Barrett wears Cody down, focusing on his head. After a bit of that, he sends Cody into the corner, but he just runs up the turnbuckles and hits a beautiful moonsault for a close near fall. Cody notices an opening, continuing to go for high risk moves. He attempts the Disaster Kick but Barrett dodges. Cody runs off the ropes only to get caught in the Winds of Change. He is able to get his shoulder up just in the nick of time. “Barrett is looking for the Bull Hammer” shouts Cole. He switches his elbow pad around and swings but Cody ducks and the referee is nailed. Cody hits Cross Rhodes and covers, but there is no referee. When he notices this, he goes over to try and wake him up. Goldust enters the ring, removing his arm from the sling to the surprise of everyone. He grabs his brother, turns him around and kicks him in the groin. The crowd and announcers are stunned at this turn of events. Cody falls to his knees in physical and emotional pain, looking up at Goldust. Barrett gets up, seeing this and jumps in to take out Cody with the Bull Hammer! A new official runs out and makes the count for the win. Bad News Barrett defeats Cody Rhodes to retain the WWE United States Championship in 10:19!
The crowd is rather stunned as Bad News Barrett rolls outside, taking his United States Title and Money in the Bank briefcase. He heads up the ramp with both items in the air, while Goldust continues to stand over his brother’s fallen body. “Why has Goldust turned his back on his brother?” asks Michael Cole. The fans boo as Goldust continues to look down on his brother, with no facial expression change.
A commercial is shown, set to “Keep on Keeping on” by Travie McCoy and Brendon Urie, to promote SummerSlam next month. Live, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, it’s the “Biggest Party of the Summer”!
WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – THE USOS (C) VS. BATISTA AND RANDY ORTON VS. DEAN AMBROSE AND SETH ROLLINS VS. ERICK ROWAN AND LUKE HARPER; In this bout, two Superstars are allowed in the ring, while the rest wait to be tagged on the apron. Starting off is Seth Rollins and Randy Orton, who met on Smackdown this past Friday. They go through an exchange of holds for a bit, before tags come in and out to some of the other Superstars. Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Batista use their power, while Rollins and the Usos show of their high flying capabilities and Orton and Dean Ambrose use their cunning styles. None of the four teams is able to gain a clear advantage through the first few minutes of this match. “King, this is anybody’s ballgame so far” says Michael Cole. Things pick up big time when a brawl ensues outside between the Shield members and Batista and Orton. Harper and Jimmy stop their fight inside and both turn to that brawl. Jimmy leaps over onto two of them as Harper uses a suicide dive to take out the other two. Inside, Rowan plants Jey with a big boot and covers but the pin is broken up. Harper comes in to help, leading him and Rowan to hit Jimmy with a variation of the 3D! Batista and Orton now come in and knock Harper and Rowan out of the ring. They turn their attention to the fallen Usos, but the Shield rush in and go back to war with them. The fight spills back to the outside where Batista clears off the announce table. “This is how they injured Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam!” shouts Lawler. They set up Ambrose for the Batista Bomb/RKO combo but Seth leaps from the apron and wipes out Batista before he can deliver the move. Both guys fall into the audience, bringing the fans to their feet. Orton is stunned at this, giving Ambrose time to hop over to his table and put him through it with Dirty Deeds! “Holy sh*t” chants break out throughout the arena. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Jimmy Uso nails Harper with a superkick, but the big man shrugs it off and lays him out with a discus lariat. He covers but Jey sneaks in to break it up. Rowan grabs him, holding him in place for another lariat but Jey ducks and Rowan gets hit with it. Jey and Jimmy deliver a double superkick to Harper, laying him out. Jimmy climbs up and hits a big splash, as Jey blocks Seth and Batista from coming in to break things up. Jimmy gets the three to finish this. The Usos defeat Batista and Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins and Erick Rowan and Luke Harper to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship in 19:50!
Cheers come down from the sold out crowd as the Usos are handed their Tag Team Titles and celebrate with them. Batista and Seth Rollins both look disappointed and frustrated outside, while Erick Rowan, Randy Orton and Dean Ambrose are all pretty much out cold. The storybook Tag Team Championship reign of the Usos continues as they overcome their toughest challenge to date!
The cameras cut backstage where Tom Phillips is now standing by with Roman Reigns. He asks him for his thoughts heading into his big match against Bray Wyatt knowing that his Shield brethren were unable to leave with the Tag Team Titles tonight. Reigns says that even though his boys didn’t win tonight, they beat the hell out of each team in there and the Wyatt Family didn’t win either. “It’s not the best omen for me, but that puts Bray in the same boat. If you think I’m going to end up as a member of that twisted family, you’ve got another thing coming. I’m gonna punch him in the mouth and spear him to get us our rightful rematch. Believe that.”
WWE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP – PAIGE (C) VS. SUMMER RAE; Back during their days in NXT, Summer Rae was actually the first girl to pin Paige. This past Monday, she became the first main roster Diva to pin Paige since she came to Raw. Knowing that she may have Paige’s number, Summer tries multiple pin attempts within the first minute, but is unable to score any three counts. “Summer Rae is doing everything she can to walk out with the Women’s Title” says JBL. Paige is a bit frustrated and she takes it out on Summer by hitting her with a string of knee strikes on the apron before letting out one of her trademark yells. Inside, she crawls on Summer, pounding away with some vicious headbutts for two. Paige goes for the PTO, bringing the crowd to their feet, but Summer is able to kick her off into the corner. She chokes the champion in the corner with her foot. “The challenger is putting those long legs to good use” says Lawler. She sends Paige off the ropes and hits a spinning heel kick for a near fall. In a surprising showing, Summer applies an Indian deathlock. Commentary is stunned at this, though Paige is able to slide over and grab hold of the bottom rope. Summer lets out a loud scream of frustration at her inability to put away the “Anti-Diva.” Summer sets for the Summer Crush, but Paige slips out and connects on a side kick to the midsection. Paige nails a fisherman suplex for two, but holds on and gets back to her feet, still holding Summer. That show of strength leads to her planting the challenger with the Ram-Paige. She then goes to the legs and locks in the PTO, leaving Summer no choice but to submit. Paige defeats Summer Rae to retain the WWE Women’s Championship in 7:11!
The fans in Tampa rise to their feet as Paige successfully defends her new title for the seventh time in just two months as champion. The fighting “Anti-Diva” continues to piss off Stephanie McMahon as nobody has been able to dethrone her as Women’s Champion. Meanwhile, Summer Rae and Miz, despite having a hot new movie on the way, have a very bad night here at Battleground.
A video package airs, dating back to Elimination Chamber earlier this year. The Shield and the Wyatt Family were, and still are, the two biggest forces in the WWE. They collided in what many called the match of the year. The Wyatt Family came out on top and they did so again on Raw a few weeks later. Since then, the Shield went on to defeat Evolution. They weren’t satisfied though, wanting to avenge their losses to the Wyatt Family, citing that they can’t be considered the greatest faction of all time if they can’t beat the Wyatt Family. The patriarch of the family, Bray Wyatt, declined the challenge, saying they had nothing left to prove. He agreed to face Roman Reigns tonight. If Reigns wins, the Shield get their rematch, but if Bray wins, Reigns has to join the Wyatt Family. The stakes could not be higher.
BRAY WYATT VS. ROMAN REIGNS; Due to the Tag Team Title war from earlier tonight, both men are out without their fellow stablemates. The two men come nose to nose in the middle of the ring, with the tension in the arena building. It’s clear that a lot of the fans are nervous at the thought of Roman Reigns joining the Wyatt Family. Bray Wyatt takes the first shot, leading to them trading shots. Reigns backs Wyatt into the corner, hammering away with more right hands. “Roman Reigns looks like a man possessed tonight” says Michael Cole. Reigns sends Wyatt off the ropes, but he comes back with a stiff clothesline. Wyatt takes Reigns outside, sending him into the guardrail. He charges at him, but Reigns powers out with a clothesline of his own. He rolls Wyatt inside and connects on a Samoan drop for two. Despite being early, Reigns punches the mat, setting up for the Superman Punch. He charges but Bray wipes him out with a big running body attack. Bray follows with a big time senton for two. Bray begins to dissect Reigns with a slew of moves to wear him down. He sends the tired Reigns into the corner and hits a big splash, before pulling him out and dancing with his lifeless body. “Bray Wyatt has a sick and twisted mind” says Jerry Lawler. Reigns seems to come to life though with some big punches, before stepping back and nailing the Superman Punch. Wyatt falls onto the ropes, so Reigns rolls outside and connects with the Drive-By! He begins to gear up for the Spear, but Wyatt signature hits. When the lights come on, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are in the ring. They can’t do any damage though as Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins quickly run out and go after them, sending all four men outside! Reigns turns his attention back to Bray, but he avoids the Spear and Reigns hits the post. As he stumbles out, Bray gets him into position for Sister Abigail. He plants a kiss on Roman’s forehead, but can’t execute as Roman uses his power to pull Bray’s hand away. He strikes with some headbutts to break the hold. With Wyatt staggering, Reigns steps back for the Spear. Harper is able to slip away from the brawl and tries to trip up Roman. Ambrose takes him down, though the distraction did its damage. Reigns runs in for the Spear, but Wyatt catches him with a snap Sister Abigail! He covers and picks up the win. Bray Wyatt defeats Roman Reigns in 15:01!
A hushed silence falls over the arena as commentators and fans are in shock. The big brawl on the outside comes to a halt as Erick Rowan and Luke Harper are smiling on the other side of the ring from the stunned Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Bray Wyatt gets to his knees, laughing as he shouts “FOLLOW THE BUZZARDS”. The camera pans over multiple fans, especially women and children, who all look heartbroken as one of their favorites is now going to be forced to join the Wyatt Family. Bray rolls outside and leaves up the aisle with Harper and Rowan. Ambrose and Rollins get in the ring as Roman Reigns starts to stir. When he realizes what just happened, you can see his face just fall. He looks at Ambrose and Rollins, who are at a loss for words. “Tomorrow night, Roman Reigns must join the Wyatt Family” says Michael Cole. The Shield exit the ring, looking more down than they ever have in their history.
We are taken to a vignette that highlights some of the success that both Alexander Rusev and Adrian Neville have had in 2015. Rusev debuted on Raw and has since been undefeated, while Neville captured the NXT Championship on February 27th. Two weeks ago on Raw, Neville answered Rusev’s Open Invitational Challenge and survived the five minutes, earning $5,000 in the process and embarrassing the “Bulgarian Brute.”
ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. ALEXANDER RUSEV W/ LANA; It seems like Lana wanted to say something before the match starts, but Alexander Rusev stops her and points to Adrian Neville, showing that he wants to get this started. Without the worry of just trying to last a certain amount of time, Neville is aggressive from the bell. He fires away with kicks to the leg of his larger opponent, though once he gets grabbed, Rusev just launches him across the ring. “You’ve got to stick and move against Rusev” says JBL. Rusev charges into the corner, crushing Neville with all of his weight, but only gets two. He looks to Lana for more instructions, as she gives an early signal for him to crush. He stands over Neville for the Accolade, but the NXT Champion gets out from under him before it is applied and dropkicks him in the back, sending Rusev to the outside. “This is how Neville was able to survive the Open Invitational” says Cole. Since there is no clock to run out, Neville goes on the offensive, hitting a gorgeous dive to the outside, taking out Rusev. He gets back in, as the referee gets near a count out, but Rusev makes it back in time. Neville wastes no time going back on the attack, wowing the fans by dead lifting Rusev from the mat with a beautiful German suplex for a close near fall. Once Rusev gets up though, he is able to take down Neville with a superkick. That’s followed by him nailing a fallaway slam for two. Rusev looks for the Accolade again, this time actually starting to apply it, only for Neville to turn over and slide out from under, escaping again. Neville goes into a series of kicks, punctuated by a big tornado DDT. He climbs up top, looking for the Red Arrow, which brings the audience to their feet. Unfortunately, Rusev moves and Neville crashes to the mat. Rusev runs in with a big body block into the corner. Neville stumbles out and Rusev catches him with a swinging side slam that is enough to stay undefeated. Alexander Rusev defeats Adrian Neville in 8:47!
Alexander Rusev gets to his feet just as Lana enters the ring beside him. Commentary mentions that he is still unbeaten, though Adrian Neville’s ability to escape the Accolade forced him to reach into his bag of tricks to find another way to win. He celebrates the victory as the fans boo him and Lana mercilessly.
A video package set to the song "Revolution" by The Used.
WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – DANIEL BRYAN (C) VS. CM PUNK; It could certainly be argued that these two men have led a revolution of change in the WWE. Daniel Bryan and CM Punk come to the center of the ring and shake hands in a show of honor. When the match begins, the two men lock up and work some wristlocks before moving to the mat. Neither guy is able to gain a clear advantage early, until Bryan is able to apply a surfboard. Bryan seems to have figured something out, as he outworks Punk a few more times on the mat, even slapping him on the back of the head a few times. Punk escapes a hold and slides outside for a breather. “CM Punk needs to get back on track if he’s going to have a chance tonight” says Cole. When he enters the ring again, Punk wants a test of strength. Like two old school warriors, they lock into it, with Punk able to overpower him and send him to the mat. However, Bryan again is able to counter and end up in control. Punk has to escape to the corner, with a flustered look on his face. They go back to lock up, but Punk just slaps Bryan, taking him off guard. Bryan responds with one of his own and they begin to just wail on each other with open hand strikes. Punk delivers a spin kick to the gut, followed by a whip into the corner and his knee strike/bulldog combination for two. “For the first time in this match, CM Punk has gained some traction” says Lawler. Punk continues to go to work on Bryan, having him where he wants him. He goes up for the elbow drop, but Bryan moves out of the way of it. When Punk gets up, Bryan runs in and surprisingly hits the Busaiku Knee! He makes the pin but Punk gets his foot on the bottom rope to stop the count. Bryan is in disbelief that he was unable to put away Punk with his best shot. He quickly realizes that he needs to go back on the offensive, and applies the Yes Lock! Punk is in excruciating pain, but refuses to submit. He manages to roll out and turn the move over into the Anaconda Vise! “That’s the hold Punk used to start his legendary 434 day WWE Title reign” exclaims JBL. Bryan stops this by making it to the ropes. Both men are tired, but get to their feet simultaneously, going back to trading stiff shots. Punk ducks a right hand, gets under Bryan and hoists him up for the GTS. He connects and the crowd jumps to their feet. Punk covers but Bryan somehow is able to kick out! Punk gets up and puts his hands on his head in frustration. He goes back to pick Bryan up, but is pulled into a small package. He kicks out at two and when both guys get up, they end up jockeying for position on a backslide attempt. They struggle, with neither guy gaining a big advantage until Bryan is able to pull Punk down. In stunning fashion, that is enough to keep Punk’s shoulders down for the count! Daniel Bryan defeats CM Punk to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 19:16!
It’s unclear which Superstar is more shocked, CM Punk or Daniel Bryan. The WWE Universe is surprised at the finish but cheer and applaud as the referee hands Bryan his titles. He seems to grasp that he did win and gets to his feet before “Yesing” with the crowd. Punk also gets to his feet, still in disbelief at wat just happened. Bryan’s theme music stops as the two men come face to face in the middle of the ring. “What is CM Punk going to do here?” asks Michael Cole. Punk looks disappointed, frustrated and pissed off, but he extends his hand to Bryan. The Champion accepts and they quickly embrace before Punk exits the ring to allow Bryan to continue his celebration.

Okay just by the match card alone you've surpassed Battleground 2013 already. Ziggy beating Kane in the pre-show was fine and expected. The IC title match was really good; Sheamus winning is surprising but I know you got good plans for Sheamus so I'm all good. Subtle but I like the line where Cody says that the US Title is one that he wants more than the IC or Tag belts. Quick little quip which makes people think that title is one that people actually covet. Jericho/Miz was a fun read and I'm glad Jericho didn't put the young'un over for once. THIS match though. Fantastic. I thought the Rhodes/Goldust feud would be 110% better if Goldust was the heel and you're making that happen and planting the initial developments for it masterfully. I'm hoping for Goldy to play some mind games and not necessarily be the typical heel, ya know, while I expect Rhodes to come out of this white-hot as a face. Thank you. Stoked the tag titles got that much time--a very well-written match, some cool spots, and in the end the Usos come out looking strong. Nothing wrong there. Glad Paige retained; perfectly acceptable Divas match. Super duper surprised with the finish for Wyatt/Reigns. You've got my attention and I'm intrigued to see how you'll take it from here. Rusev beating Neville is fine and the match was cool. The WWE Title match was great as expected and the finish was pretty cool. 'Nother good showing Kev and I'm certainly excited to see how you'll take it heading into Summerslam.

Well, Kev - firstly, well done on having a thread stickied here...!! So, as you know, today, I was on Banter and replying to your PMs whilst also reading this...I then re-read it after I was unfettered and I'm still somewhat new to what a Sim is, but it makes sense - you're rebooking how you would have liked to see the WWE be in a certain time period...(I hope I have that right) I'm not going to single anything out as I read it as a free-flowing piece of prose, which is fairly easy to follow. I will say though, in that context, 'both men are beet red' is probably what you were going for. I did like that you mentioned footage of Punk and Bryan's days on the independents are shown, that helps paint a better picture of what these men have gone through to get to where they are at this point in your Sim. The matches themselves adhere to the WWE 'style' of 'sports entertainment', so the faithfulness you've stuck to here is admirable. I also liked that Cody is featured in the best light possible, flanked by Goldust. Seeing those two with Dusty at the real Battleground 2013 was a great move by WWE. Well done Kev. Normally this would be the part where I would sheepishly ask you (depending on time and availability) to see what you thought of my recent SUMMIT PRO offering, but due to our PM I have come to appreciate the time you have given me in any way, shape or form...so I will refrain this time. I enjoyed this, well done. Cheers!

Battleground time. I dig the theme and that's coming from somebody that has never cared for The Used... anyway, on to the show. Dolph Ziggler was always going to beat Kane on the Kickoff Show. Heres hoping he moves on to bigger things next. I'm sure he will with your vision... starting things off with Sheamus and Cesaro was a fine choice. I'm fine with Sheamus retaining, Cesaro has been looking strong in defeat as of late and The Authority/Sheamus need some guys staying strong. I like Cody Rhodes mentioning how he is the only one in the family not to be United States Champion yet. I could see him winning it tonight or later down the road. Next, Chris Jericho manages to defeat The Miz and I don't really have any complaints with it. I would've been okay either way, I think. Wow, Goldust turned on Cody Rhodes! I was surprised when Elliot did it and I'm surprised here. I was thinking of Cody maybe turning on Goldust out of frustration... but, it appears we'll get HeelDust vs Cody at Summerslam and maybe we'll get a good Rhodes run as US Champion after that. First result I'm surprised in with The Usos managing to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships. I really thought one of the three teams would've won it, but we'll see what happens next in the tag title scene and division. Paige was always going to retain the Women's Championship. You did a solid job making Summer Rae at least a somewhat serious threat in the build up thus far, but it was obvious she wouldn't be winning at Battleground. Second match I'm really surprised by with the result... Bray Wyatt beating Roman Reigns was completely unexpected and it makes me really, really curious as to what you come up with as a way out as I don't see Reigns being in the family for long, if he even joins at all. Glad that Rusev remained undefeated against Adrian Neville, but props to the creative way to get this feud started and get Neville involved on the main roster and some showing over the weeks. The main event was good as Punk and Bryan always go at it well. I liked how the ending was different from a totally big finish and it kept Punk looking good in defeat. His frustrations showing afterward was good teasing, but glad he didn't turn. Way too early for him to go back heel since coming back a couple of months ago at Payback... a good Battleground event, intrigued by what your route is on the way to Summerslam.
