Monday Night Raw: July 21st, 2014 – American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida
After the WWE Signature flashes across the screen, we see the weekly opening Raw video set to “Tonight is the Night”. Michael Cole, John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Jerry “the King” Lawler introduce tonight’s episode of Raw. They promise that we will see the fallout from last night’s Battleground Pay-Per-View, as well as begin the road to SummerSlam! They announce some major news, informing us that just like John Cena did last year, Daniel Bryan has been given the opportunity to hand pick his opponent for SummerSlam! Before they can go any further, the theme music of CM Punk hits. The fans stay on their feet as CM Punk steps through the curtain. As he walks to the ring, commentary makes sure to remind us that he was just one backslide pin attempt away from walking out with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last night at Battleground. The fans continue to cheer as Punk enters the ring. He starts by saying that he comes out here tonight in disappointed fashion. “Last night I came very close to regaining the WWE Championship but Daniel Bryan was just a little bit better. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t sour grapes and I’m not pissed at Daniel. Congratulations to him and I want him to know that when I earn another shot, I will walk out as champion.” That gets a bit of a mixed reaction from the crowd but Punk continues by saying that since his return, his mind has kind of been elsewhere. “Hell, my mind has actually been focused elsewhere since before I left back in January. I’ve had the Authority on my mind and more specifically, Triple H. Just like when his father-in-law was in charge or when old clown shoes John Laurinaitis was running things, I hate the way that Triple conducts business and I demand that he get his ass out here!” The crowd pops but we get no Triple H for a few seconds until his music finally hits. He comes to the ring and looks like he means business. Once he enters, he gets right in Punk’s face, telling him that he doesn’t demand anything. “You don’t run things around here, I do. It seems like you’ve got a problem with that, so you can walk your happy ass back out of that door. You left in January and I and these people didn’t miss you one bit.” The crowd boos that as they clearly missed Punk in his absence. Punk responds by saying it doesn’t sound that way. “Look, it’s the same situation as it was back at Money in the Bank a few years ago. You can’t change anything from your couch at home. I came back and said my goal was to get you out of power, just like I did to John Laurinaitis. However, I put the WWE Title in front of that goal and rightfully so, since it’s the most important thing in the world to me. With that behind me after last night, my focus is on you. I want a match with you at SummerSlam!” The crowd erupts as Triple H looks a bit stunned, but that slowly turns into a smirk. “What is it with the Daniel Bryan and CM Punk’s of the world trying to challenge me? Bryan did it at WrestleMania and got the luckiest win in WrestleMania history. You see, I have no reason to face you. You won’t be pulling an ‘Occupy Raw’ moment or anything like that. I’ve taken tons of precautionary measures to prevent that from ever happening. You have nothing to leverage against me so you can take your anger and use it in tonight’s main event, but I’m out of here.” Triple H leaves the ring to boos, while Punk stares off at him. Despite getting told no, CM Punk looks determined to face the COO of this company in a match. BAD NEWS BARRETT AND SHEAMUS VS. CESARO AND DOLPH ZIGGLER; Less than 24 hours ago, both Sheamus and Mr. Money in the Bank, Bad News Barrett were able to retain their respective titles. Dolph Ziggler put Kane in his rearview mirror and is getting back to focusing on gold. Since joining the Authority, Sheamus and Barrett have teamed more than few times, developing some solid chemistry. They cut the ring in half on Ziggler, though he is able to eventually make the hot tag to the Swiss Superman. Cesaro looks for a bit of revenge after losing to Sheamus last night. He hits some of his big power offense before tagging Ziggler back in and going for the swing on Barrett. Sheamus Brogue Kicks him to stop that, but that frees up Ziggler to school boy him and pin the Intercontinental Champion! Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler defeat Bad News Barrett and Sheamus in 12:22!Dolph Ziggler quickly escapes the ring as Sheamus is up and trying to grab him. Dolph pulls Cesaro out of the ring as he shakes out the cobwebs from the Brogue Kick. Sheamus is livid in the ring while Bad News Barrett is mostly occupied with securing his United States Title and Money in the Bank briefcase on the outside.
The Bella Twins are shown backstage preparing for a match tonight. Renee Young comes up to them, saying that they requested some interview time. Brie goes to speak first but Nikki pulls the microphone to herself. She says that now that Paige is done with Summer Rae, there are two girls looking for title shots now. “Brie and I are this Divas division. Check out E! every Sunday night and you’ll see us as the flag bearers for Total Divas. We are proud of being called Divas and we wear it proudly. It’s about time you learned that the Bellas run things around here.” She kicks Renee out before going back to lacing up her shoes.
Fans cheer loudly as a signature scream is heard, signaling the arrival of our WWE Women’s Champion, Paige! The popular lady makes her way to ringside, joining commentary for the upcoming match. THE BELLA TWINS VS. THE FUNKADACTYLS; There has been a change of heart for most of the girls in this match. The Bella Twins have not been very shy about their more aggressive attitude, while Cameron has been very much self-obsessed as of late. On commentary, Paige discusses how she’s defended the title against everyone, including both Bella Twins. Those Bellas take advantage of the fact that Cameron is busy jawing with some fans on the apron and Nikki scores the pinfall on Naomi after the Rack Attack. The Bella Twins defeat The Funkadactyls in 4:05!A mixed reaction comes in from the crowd as the Bella Twins are announced as the winners. Paige gets up from commentary and walks around the ring, with Nikki staring a hole through her the entire time. Surprisingly, Stephanie McMahon’s theme hits as the “Billion Dollar Princess” steps out onto the stage. She applauds the match before turning to the reason she came out. “Paige, I’ve made it very clear that I have not been pleased with your attitude or your need to go against the Divas name I’ve given you ladies. Now, I have a major announcement to make. Next week, right here on Raw, we will have a guest host. This host is arguably the greatest DIVA in WWE history. Ladies and gentlemen, your host next week will be none other than WWE Hall of Famer, Trish Stratus!” The crowd erupts for this as Paige and the Bellas both seem rather interested at this breaking news.
An image appears on screen to tell everyone that Fozzy’s new single, “Lights Go Out”, hits iTunes tomorrow morning. Be sure to check it out! CHRIS JERICHO VS. FANDANGO W/ LAYLA; A rematch of WrestleMania 29 here as Fandango scored a massive upset by beating Chris Jericho on that night. Jericho successfully defeated the brash “A-Lister”, Miz last night at Battleground. These two work rather well together considering their past and Fandango scores more near falls on rollups than he has in recent matches. Jericho though, has been on his game since returning a few weeks back. He is able to score with a spinning heel kick and Lionsault to win. Chris Jericho defeats Fandango in 4:30!The fans cheer as Chris Jericho wins a back and forth contest. He raises his arms in victory as Layla looks on at the fallen Fandango in disappointment. One has to wonder what is next for Jericho now that he’s successfully moved past the Miz.
Returning from commercial, Fandango is still in the ring while Layla checks up on him. Suddenly, the crowd goes nuts as they hear “Sierra. Hotel. India. Echo. Lima. Delta. Shield” Dean Ambrose comes running down the stairway in the crowd and he hops the guardrail. Ambrose grabs a steel chair, bringing it in the ring with him and bashing Fandango in the back with it. “What the hell has gotten into Dean Ambrose?” shouts Michael Cole. Ambrose continues to wail on him until Seth Rollins charges out and holds him back. Fandango rolls out of the ring as Layla watches in horror. Seth backs Dean into the corner, trying to calm him down before he takes a microphone. Seth says that he’s been having some trouble controlling Dean, who is furious about the events that took place last night. “The Wyatt Family not only took away our shot at taking them out when we get the chance, but they took one of our brothers away from us!” Dean snatches the microphone, saying it wasn’t supposed to go down like this. “Roman was supposed to walk into Battleground, beat the hell out of Bray Wyatt and earn us another match against the Wyatt Family but instead, he now has to walk around as a member of their creepy little family and dammit, I don’t like it one bit!” Before Dean can continue, the Wyatt signature hits as Bray Wyatt appears on the Titantron. “Miami…we’re here.” Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Roman Reigns step out onto the stage. Reigns has his head down and is wearing a raggedy vest and jeans. Bray sits on his rocking chair and tells Dean Ambrose to listen to Seth Rollins and calm down. “You should have prepared yourself for this. Did you really believe this would end any other way? Dean, I am not your typical soul. I wanted Roman Reigns at my side and where is Roman Reigns? Right by my side. He is now an extension of me and there is nothing that is going to change that. Isn’t that right Roman?” Bray moves the microphone to Roman, who slowly looks up at his brothers. With pain in his eyes, he simply says “yes Bray” and puts his head back down. Bray continues by telling the Shield that they are no more. “Without Roman, you are no longer the Shield, you are just shells of your former selves. In a few minutes, my Roman Reigns will step into that ring and show you a side of himself that you and this world have never seen.” Ambrose says this isn’t right and wants to fight right now, but Seth holds him back. “We’re out numbered four to two, it isn’t smart.” Dean gets mad at this, saying he doesn’t care about the numbers. He flees the ring and up to the Wyatt Family, with Seth running after him. Dean goes straight for Bray but is cut off by Roman Reigns laying him out with a vicious Spear! Seth stops in his tracks, looking at Roman as the crowd reacts with half boos and half stunned silence. Roman moves his hair from his face and stares at Seth. Seth stares back and can be heard saying “Roman…we’re brothers.” Roman doesn’t respond but Bray laughs manically in the background. “You are no longer brothers! Roman’s only brothers are by my side! We are his real family!” Roman continues to look at Seth with pain in is his eyes, before the Wyatt Family walk past Seth and Dean and towards the ring for Roman’s match. KOFI KINGSTON W/ ROB VAN DAM VS. ROMAN REIGNS W/ THE WYATT FAMILY; The demeanor of Roman Reigns is a very different one tonight than it usually is. Kofi Kingston tentatively goes after him, but Reigns takes him down. Bray Wyatt shouts at Roman “GIVE ME MORE! END HIM!” Reigns looks out at him before letting out a bit of a sigh. He lifts Kofi and plants him with a stiff spinebuster. Bray likes this and begins to laugh. Rob Van Dam looks concerned for his friend as Reigns picks him up and puts him in the corner, where he unleashes multiple clotheslines. Reigns then nails a big side slam before hitting a Spear, with none of the usual fun theatrics to win. Roman Reigns defeats Kofi Kingston in 3:29!As one would expect, Bray Wyatt is pleased with the performance of his new family member. Roman Reigns doesn’t look too happy though as he exits the ring. He goes to leave by himself but Erick Rowan and Luke Harper block him. He turns to Bray, with the crowd hoping he just hits him. Instead, Bray holds his arms out as Roman looks around. The crowd chants “no” at the top of their lungs but Roman succumbs and drops to his knees as Bray basks in the glory of his power. “It’s like he has to worship Bray Wyatt” says Michael Cole in a somber tone.
Returning, the Authority is backstage. Batista and Randy Orton interrupt Triple H talking to ask him about their shot at the Tag Team Titles. “Neither one of us got pinned last night so I think we’re still deserving of a Tag Team Title shot” says Randy Orton. Triple H responds by saying that he did mention that CM Punk would be in the main event later, but he never said what the match would be. “Well how about this. Tonight, CM Punk will team up with the Usos to take on you two and Kane. If you guys win, and I have the utmost confidence that you will, you’ll earn a shot with no other teams involved.” Batista and Orton like the idea as they head over to Kane to talk strategy. ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. TYSON KIDD W/ NATALYA; Much like the Fandango/Chris Jericho match earlier tonight, this one is a rematch. Tyson Kidd got a crack at Adrian Neville’s NXT Championship at the historic Osaka, Japan show. As Adrian Neville makes his entrance, we are reminded, and shown still images, of Neville coming up just short of defeating Alexander Rusev last night at Battleground. He looks to get back on track here, but Kidd is no slouch and gives him everything he can handle. He gets close to slapping on the Sharpshooter, but Neville kicks him off. He connects on a massive boot in the corner before climbing up top as the fans rise. Neville scores with the Red Arrow, ending this. Adrian Neville defeats Tyson Kidd in 6:21!After the match, Adrian Neville is handed the NXT Championship, which he raises high in the air. The commentators remind us that despite his hard fought loss to Alexander Rusev last night, Neville certainly seems like a force to be reckoned with in the WWE.
Cutting backstage, Cesaro is shown rolling his luggage out to the parking lot. He seems ready to leave the arena as he puts it in the trunk. From out of nowhere, Alberto Del Rio appears and hits him with some sort of pipe like object. He just pummels Cesaro’s arm with it with repeated shots. He then opens the car door, places Cesaro’s hand inside and slams it shut. The scream that comes from Cesaro sounds like he is in excruciating pain. Del Rio adds to this by applying the Cross Armbreaker, which has already put people on the shelf lately. Security finally makes it out to break this up, but the damage is clearly done. Del Rio says “the Authority sends their regards” before he leaves the scene.
A commercial runs to hype the next episode of the hit series, WWE Countdown! Find out what you, the WWE Universe, voted as the top ten Hell in a Cell matches in history! R-TRUTH VS. THE MIZ W/ SUMMER RAE; Coming off of an embarrassing evening at Battleground, Miz and Summer Rae look to rebound here. R-Truth’s head has to be elsewhere as his friend Xavier Woods turned his back on him this past Friday on Smackdown. We get told during the match that Woods and the Age of Enlightenment are going to address the WWE Universe on this week’s Smackdown. As for the match, the former Awesome Truth collide, but it is clear that Miz is on a mission to redeem himself after losing to Chris Jericho. He hits the Skull Crushing Finale and earns the victory. The Miz defeats R-Truth in 3:24!Summer Rae runs into the ring to hug Miz, who pushes her away a bit because she nearly hit the “moneymaker”. When she realizes this, she apologizes but Miz forgives her and they celebrate together.
We go backstage where a camera catches Alberto Del Rio in his locker room. A knock is heard as Triple H enters. He thanks Alberto for his assistance over the past few weeks. “I owe you one man” says Triple H as he tries to leave. Del Rio stops him though, saying that he knows what he wants. “It’s been a while since El Patron had some gold around his waist. I want a shot at the United States Championship.” The crowd oohs at this as Triple H’s grin fades from his face. He tells Del Rio that he shouldn’t rush into asking for that and should take some time to think about it. Del Rio persists, but Triple H says he’s busy and exits.
Renee Young is standing by with Alexander Rusev and Lana. She asks for their thoughts on Rusev’s win over Adrian Neville last night at Battleground. Lana responds, saying that it came as no surprise. “I’ve been telling all of you for weeks that Alexander Rusev is the ‘Super Athlete’. Yes, little Adrian Neville survived the Open Invitational but last night Rusev showed his superiority. He is the greatest and most dominant Superstar in the history of the WWE and he will crush anyone who doubts him, past, present or future.”
A recap is shown of the end of the WWE United States Championship match at Battleground. Cody Rhodes seemed near a historic title win until his brother entered the ring and turned his back on him. CHRISTIAN VS. GOLDUST; For the first time since his return last year, Goldust is greeted with a chorus of boos. He shows next to no emotion but when the match official starts, he comes at Christian with an aggressive attack. Captain Charisma fights back with some of his signature offense, picking up a few quick near falls. Goldust uses a low blow behind the referee’s back to stop his momentum. This allows Goldust to go into some of his usual moves. However, they have more a snap to it as Goldust seems to be doing his best to try and put a hurting on Christian. He is able to block the Killswitch and plant Christian with the Curtain Call to win. Goldust defeats Christian in 4:33!The “Bizarre One” is unable to enjoy his win because his music quickly cuts out for the theme of Cody Rhodes. The scorned brother comes out a huge pop but doesn’t make a beeline for the ring. Instead, he comes out with a concerned look on his face as he enters the ring. He goes up to Goldust, looking for an apology and not revenge. Goldust doesn’t respond, but Cody won’t allow him to walk past him until he gets some sort of answer. Goldust finally gets pissed and shoves Cody to the mat, leaving him alone in the ring. BIG SHOW VS. BO DALLAS; Big Show returned last week on Raw and knocked out Bo Dallas. It was Show’s first appearance since losing to Alexander Rusev back at Extreme Rules. Bo charges at Show, who simply holds him back with his hand like he’s a toddler. Show laughs while Bo gets madder by the second. He steps back as his eyes fill with tears. Show comes at him but Bo ducks and gets in some kicks. They don’t have much effect and Show grabs him around the throat for a Chokeslam. Bo pokes Show in the eye to block it, then swings around him and rolls him up. He puts his feet on the ropes and pulls the tights to shockingly win. Bo Dallas defeats Big Show in 1:45!If you thought Bo Dallas’ usual victory lap was obnoxious, it is nothing compared to the one he busts out here. Bo runs around the ring with a huge smile, stopping to pour the commentator’s bottles of water over him. He asks for hugs from multiple people at ringside but gets denied. He turns around from a rejection and Big Show is waiting for him with a huge knockout blow. The fans cheer as Bo Dallas is out like a light.
BATISTA, KANE AND RANDY ORTON VS. CM PUNK AND THE USOS; The crowd reaction for the tandem of CM Punk and the Usos is a loud one. They’ve teamed up in the past and it shows early as they bust out some quick tags. Punk even manages to get in on some Uso double teams. Things change though when Jey takes a big backbreaker from Randy Orton, allowing the Authority to cut the ring in half. They pick Jey apart, giving him no time to breathe, let alone tag out. He finally manages to do so following a superkick to Batista. The tag goes to Punk, who comes in hot. He hits everything in his path and when he connects on a knee strike in the corner, he shouts “I’m coming for you Hunter!” Punk sets for the GTS but gets tackled by Kane to the outside. Jimmy tags him on his back as he falls out. He climbs up top and hits Orton with a big splash. Before he can cover though, Batista is in and plants him with the Batista Bomb. He drapes Orton over Jimmy, getting the 1-2-3. Batista, Kane and Randy Orton defeat CM Punk and the Usos in 11:58!Batista instantly helps Randy Orton up as Kane manages to roll back inside. Batista and Randy Orton did what they set out to do, which was to pin one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions. CM Punk is shown outside, looking disappointed. He knows that he is not any closer to the match against Triple H that he so desperately wants. On the other hand, the Authority are now coming for the Tag Team Titles, which would only add to their already high level of power.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” is heard as Daniel Bryan’s music plays and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion makes his way out to the ring. He gets inside and grabs a microphone, waiting for the vocal WWE Universe to quiet down. He starts by saying that he was told earlier today that he would be able to make the choice for his opponent at SummerSlam. “If you all remember, last year, the same exact thing happened and I was chosen. When nobody else would give me a chance, John Cena did and you know what? I beat him, clean in the middle of this ring. Granted, what happened after I won was awful, but I try not to be negative.” Bryan says that he has thought long and hard about the decision, but there was one man that he wanted to give a shot to more than anyone else. He says that he got on his phone and called that man up. “After what happened last year, I just have to see what happens with a rematch. My opponent at SummerSlam 2014 will be the man that I beat for this last year…my opponent will be John Cena!” The crowd gives a mixed reaction that turns to more cheers when Cena’s theme hits and he walks out onto the stage. We haven’t seen Cena since his tough rivalry with Bray Wyatt! Cena goes down and enters the ring, shaking Bryan’s hand before grabbing a microphone and saying how good it feels to be back. He says that he has had a rough 2014 and needed to take some time to clear his head. “I was planning on coming back before SummerSlam anyway, but Daniel’s call got me here as fast as I could. Hell, I literally walked into the arena 20 minutes ago. Now, Daniel, I gladly accept this title match but why me? There are a hell of a lot of guys back there who either have had better years than me or don’t get the amount of opportunities that I do.” Bryan nods and understands, saying that they never got to have their rematch because of what Randy Orton and Triple H did right after. Bryan also wants to prove to any doubters left that his win was not a fluke. Before Cena can respond, Triple H’s music hits. The COO appears to boos and stays atop the stage. He thanks Daniel for making a decision here tonight. “John Cena is a solid choice. Unlike you, he’s an A+ player and having him around is usually best for business. However, I had something a little different in mind. You see, John is not the only Superstar that is best for business. There is another, who I have had my fair share of issues with. Your match at SummerSlam, will be a Triple Threat match. The third man is a man who has so far, had the most impressive year in WWE history. A man who ended a major streak this year. Hell, you might not even call him a man. You might say, he’s a beast.” The fans pop when the music of Brock Lesnar hits and he steps out, flanked by Paul Heyman. Bryan and Cena both don’t look pleased at this turn of events. “The Beast conquered the Undertaker at WrestleMania, King. I don’t think there’s anything Daniel Bryan or John Cena can do to stop him at SummerSlam” says Michael Cole. Brock Lesnar stares at Cena and Bryan, doing his trademark jumping on the stage as the camera sees Paul Heyman’s devious smile before coming to a close. RAW BACKSTAGE PASS; When fans switch over to the WWE Network for the Backstage Pass, the panel consisting of Josh Matthews, Booker T and Alex Riley discuss the monumental episode of Raw. They cut to the ring during this to show John Cena and Daniel Bryan after Brock Lesnar left back through the curtain. Renee Young gets in the ring for a word with them. Bryan states that he didn't see it coming and he's seen how dominant Brock has been lately but he's the WWE Champion for a reason and he plans on walking out of SummerSlam with his belts. John Cena takes a different approach, telling Bryan that he's never been in the ring with Brock. "You don't know what that animal is like. I beat him a few years ago and I nearly had to kill him and myself in the process." Cena walks off , leaving Bryan, Renee and the WWE Universe surprised at his attitude.

Not tryna throw hands at you or anything, just in for a reply. Pretty cool opening promo with Punk, Bryan and Trips. Kinda cool bringing in the reference to Punk walking out. Solid opening tag bout and the right team won. The Bellas winning was a smart booking decision and I'm excited to see (or read, whatever) what Trish has in store for the women next Monday. Ooh, a Wrestlemania 29 rematch. Glad Jericho won; interested to see how (if at all) he fits into Summerslam. The Shield/Wyatts interaction was great; I like the picture you painted of Reigns in Wyatt Family garb, disappointed. Kinda-disinterested-kinda-disappointed-Wyatt Roman Reigns is my new favorite thing. Good that Neville got some momentum back after losing at Battleground. Goldust beating Christian was alright; I'm more interested in seeing what he and Cody are doing tonight. I'm intrigued with how Cody handled himself but it vaguely reminds me of how Stardust came to be. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Stardust, but I feel like the stage is set for Cody vs Goldust, ya know? The six man tag was solid; perfectly acceptable main event. YOOO! I thought Bryan picking Cena a year after Cena picked Bryan was great, but the way you handled it with Brock being hand-picked was even better. I dig what Cena said to Bryan on the backstage pass too. Curious to see what Cena will do at Summerslam but a great post-Battleground Raw.

WWE NXT – July 24th, 2014 – Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida
To open the broadcast, we see a video package that showcases the history of the Beautiful Fierce Females. After showing how they came together, we see Charlotte winning the NXT Women’s Championship, Summer Rae returning and the issues the ladies have had since then. It ends by showcasing Summer Rae and Sasha Banks, before announcing that the two ladies meet one on one tonight to determine a number one contender for Charlotte’s title! This is followed by the NXT weekly opening before he head right into our opening contest. NON-TITLE MATCH: ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. CJ PARKER; The fans pop at the appearance of the NXT Champion, fresh off a tough loss to Alexander Rusev at Battleground but a win over Tyson Kidd on Raw. CJ Parker, holding his trademark signs, tries to cut a promo at the bell but Neville wants to hear none of it. Parker surprises many with some early close calls. Neville rights the ship however, and reel off some of the moves he is most known for. He is able to nail the Red Arrow to pick up the victory. Adrian Neville defeats CJ Parker in 3:18!The music of Adrian Neville plays as the NXT Champion celebrates a victory tonight. He is one of the hardest working men in WWE considering his appearances on Raw, NXT, Smackdown and Battleground this past week. His top priority still remains the NXT Champion though.
We go backstage to Devin Taylor, who is standing by with Corey Graves. She asks for his opinions on Adrian Neville’s match and his performance on the main roster. Graves gives a small chuckle and asks if he’s supposed to be impressed. “So he lasted five minutes with Alexander Rusev? I would have beaten him if given the opportunity. You see, when I beat Justin Gabriel last week, it was me showing what I do against main roster veterans. That’s not my goal though. My goal is the NXT Championship. Neville, we have a bit of a storied past here in NXT and it’s all going to come full circle once I get my title shot.” Graves tells Neville that when that time comes, he will stay down.
An ad is shown for the WWE Shop, set to the song “Jungle” by Jamie N Commons. It shows various Superstars, Divas and members of the WWE Universe wearing authentic WWE gear. We return to see the Legionnaires in the ring when the theme of Sami Zayn hits. The crowd comes to their feet as they await the arrival of Zayn’s partner this week. It turns out to be Sin Cara, who gets a mixed reaction from the NXT faithful. THE LEGIONNAIRES VS. SAMI ZAYN AND SIN CARA; Similar to the tag team match a few weeks back where Sami Zayn teamed with Oliver Grey, their chemistry is off. That allows the Legionnaires to hold serve early, showing off how well they happen to know each other. Sin Cara struggles until he is able to make the big tag to Zayn. The man dying to win gold here in NXT comes in firing on all cylinders. He nails most of his signature stuff and calls for the Helluva Kick. When he runs for it though, Sylvester Lefort trips him up. With him down, Sin Cara reaches over and tags himself back in, but it is a mistake as Marcus Louis is able to put him down with a DDT. The Legionnaires defeat Sami Zayn and Sin Cara in 6:11!The referee raises the hands of the Legionnaires as Sami Zayn gets to his knees and looks on in disappointment. The Legionnaires head out of the ring as Sami checks on Sin Cara. The Titantron then shows the Ascension in a dark room looking on. They don’t say anything for a bit and then start maniacally laughing. Sami looks incredibly frustrated at this.
A black and white ad airs to promote the WWE Network and all of the things that you can find on it, for just $9.99 per month. The music of the NXT Women’s Champion starts as Charlotte walks out to the arena and takes a seat at ringside to see who the number one contender will be for her belt. NUMBER ONE CONTENDER’S MATCH: SASHA BANKS VS. SUMMER RAE; The original BFFs collide here with a huge opportunity on the line. Sasha Banks and Summer Rae get in each other’s face after the bell, as commentary reminds everyone that Summer pinned Paige on Raw recently. Summer slaps Sasha, leading to a brawl that spills outside, right in front of the champion. When it goes back inside, Sasha goes on the offensive, taking control and wearing down the Marine 4 star. She gets some close near falls, but Summer is able to battle back, using her long legs for some big kicks. She looks for the Summer Crush but Sasha is able to slip out and hit the Bank Statement. She locks in the submissions, but Summer’s long legs allow her to get her foot on the bottom rope. Sasha is flustered and goes for it again, but Summer is now the one to counter, hitting Summer Crush. She covers and gets the 1-2-3. Summer Rae defeats Sasha Banks in 6:08!There is a smug look on the face of Summer Rae, who has earned herself a shot at another title. She came very close to dethroning Paige of the WWE Women’s Championship at Battleground and now has a date in two weeks with Charlotte, who is at ringside looking at her next challenger. Charlotte holds her title high in the air but Summer seems unfazed and stays just as brash.
A vignette airs to showcase Becky Lynch. She debuted a few weeks ago and defeated Sasha Banks in an upset. We are shown some quick clips of her work on the independents before she discusses the career threatening injury that took her out of action for years. She says that during that time, she could have gotten down on her life but instead, she focused on the positives. While she learned to live life to the fullest, she was able to get back into the ring and now has made it to NXT, where she plans on continuing to fulfill her dreams. CURT HAWKINS VS. KALISTO; When he first appeared in NXT a few weeks back, Curt Hawkins made a point to say that he was coming to make an impact. He has split his matches so far, and runs into some trouble early on against the high flying Kalisto. Despite some very impressive showings, Kalisto’s won/loss record hasn’t been the best so far. He busts out those exciting moves of his, overwhelming Hawkins and causing him to regroup on the outside. Hawkins goads him into a chase that ends with him stomping on Kalisto. Hawkins tries to slow him down with some wear down holds. Kalisto fights through them and busts out a springboard corkscrew attack. He follows that with Salida Del Sol for the win. Kalisto defeats Curt Hawkins in 6:04!Kalisto gets to his feet as the crowd cheers for his win. He throws his hands in the air as the crowd chants “LU-CHA” along with them. “These are the kinds of wins that Kalisto needs to pick up if he wants to move up in the ranks here in NXT” says Jason Albert.
We go backstage to John “Bradshaw” Layfield in his office when a knock is heard an in steps Tyson Kidd. JBL says that he’s busy, which is why he didn’t tell him to come in. Tyson tells him to make time for him. “I know you don’t seem to grasp it John, but I am the biggest star in NXT. Fact.” JBL doesn’t believe that is the case, but Tyson insists. “I am the star of Total Divas. Fact. I am a former WWE Tag Team Champion. Fact. If I had another shot at Adrian Neville, I’d be NXT Champion. Fact. I deserve to be treated better around here. If there is a poster boy for this show, it needs to be me.” JBL seems annoyed, but tells Tyson that if he wants to be a featured star, he needs to get back on the winning track. “I tell you what. Next week, you’re going to face your former tag team partner, Justin Gabriel. If you win, then we’ll see about giving you more shine.” Tyson seems okay with this and heads off.
A commercial is shown for SummerSlam, set to “Keep on Keeping On” by Travie McCoy. It shows various WWE Superstars and Divas are they prepare for the biggest event of the summer.
EVAN BOURNE VS. TYLER BREEZE; Last week, Tyler Breeze interrupted an Evan Bourne interview, causing Evan to ask JBL for this match. Bourne only recently returned, but hasn’t shown much ring rust. Tyler Breeze wisely targets Bourne’s recently repaired leg, which will also prevent him from using his high flying ability and speed. It works perfectly when Bourne tries to springboard in, only to fall as his leg gives out. Tyler applies a rare submission to the leg, looking for the tap out but Bourne reaches the ropes. He begins to make a rally, and looks for the AirBourne, when the Titantron and lights start to flicker, which has become a staple of Solomon Crowe’s hacking skills. The distraction is enough for Breeze to hit the ropes, causing Bourne to crash to the mat. Breeze connects with the Beauty Shot and the referee counts the three. Tyler Breeze defeats Evan Bourne in 8:58!Tyler Breeze stands up, looking at Evan Bourne in disgust before picking up his cellphone and taking some selfies. He also wipes his feet on the mat, brushing whatever dirt there was onto Evan Bourne. One has to wonder why Solomon Crowe chose that moment to get involved, but Tyler Breeze sure isn’t complaining.

Friday Night Smackdown: July 25th, 2014 – Amway Center in Orlando, Florida
A video package kicks off tonight’s episode, recapping the ending of Raw this week. Daniel Bryan was given the opportunity to choose his opponent for SummerSlam and he selected the man who picked him last year, John Cena. Cena made his return to accept, only for Triple H to have his own plans. He brought out Brock Lesnar, who will be the third man in the match, giving us a Triple Threat main event. We cut to the arena where Michael Cole and John “Bradshaw” Layfield introduce the show tonight and hype it up. They tell us that John Cena is making his return to in-ring action for the first time since Payback tonight and we will see a No Disqualification match between Alberto Del Rio and Cody Rhodes! NON-TITLE MATCH: SHEAMUS VS. CHRISTIAN; Kicking things off on Smackdown tonight is a bout between two guys who had a big series of matches earlier in the year. Since then though, both guys have had changes of attitude. Sheamus works as the aggressor, pounding away on Christian to the point where his chest is beet red. Christian slips free of Sheamus’ grip and comes off the second rope with a sunset flip for a close near fall. He nails a reverse DDT and goes up top for a frog splash. He leaps off and connects, but Sheamus is able to get his shoulder up. Christian can’t believe it, but begins to clap for the Killswitch. Sheamus is able to shove him off into the corner to prevent it and then hit the Brogue Kick for the win. Sheamus defeats Christian in 9:58!Sheamus has his hand raised and snatches the Intercontinental Title from the official. He hoists it high in the air, continuing to dominate the WWE since winning it way back at Extreme Rules. However, his celebration is cut short by someone’s theme music. Dolph Ziggler steps through the curtain with a microphone in hand. He puts it on his side and claps for Sheamus’ victory. He then speaks, saying that he’s not out here to rain on Sheamus’ parade, but he has something he wants to get off of his chest. “Back in 2012, I won the Money in the Bank briefcase. I spent the rest of that year getting win after win after win against guys like John Cena and Randy Orton. I cashed in that briefcase, won the World Heavyweight Title and was on top of the world.” The crowd pops but then Dolph changes to a more somber tone. “Then I got a concussion and lost the title in my first defense. I spent the rest of 2013 pissed off. It was some of the worst times of my career. When the calendar turned to 2014, I promised myself that things would change. I am too damn good to be doing nothing. So what did I do? I went out and won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.” Another pop elicits from the WWE Universe. Dolph says that his next goal was to win championship gold, but is interrupted by Sheamus. “Fella, I get that you want this to be story time but is there a point to all of this?” Dolph smirks slightly and says there is. “I was the United States Champion but the Authority took that away from me and you know what? I’m so sick of being held back by the higher powers because I don’t look or act a certain way! I’m out here to tell you that I’m coming for that title. The Intercontinental Title. The belt that the guys I looked up to all wore proudly. Shawn Michaels, Mr. Perfect, Bret Hart, Ricky Steamboat. They all wore it and I plan on doing the same1” Again the crowd cheers but Sheamus just laughs and tells him that he’ll have to prove to him and the Authority that he deserves it. Dolph guarantees that he will get his shot, before slamming the microphone down and turning away, leaving Sheamus a bit stunned as he was about to respond. It looks like Dolph Ziggler has his sights set on the Intercontinental Title.
Returning, we are taken to a recap from Raw showing just how off the rails Dean Ambrose has been since Roman Reigns was forced to join the Wyatt Family. He attacked Fandango until Seth Rollins arrived to calm him down. DEAN AMBROSE W/ SETH ROLLINS VS. FANDANGO W/ LAYLA; Even before the bell rings, Dean Ambrose goes right after Fandango, just beating him down. Fandango is never able to get out of the blocks as Ambrose is relentless. He picks up Fandango and throws him into the corner, where he reels off a series of rights and lefts. Fandango manages to get in a spinning heel kick but Ambrose is quickly up to plant him with Dirty Deeds. That allows him to polish off Fandango. Dean Ambrose defeats Fandango in 2:38!The referee raises Dean Ambrose’s hand but he quickly pulls it away. He goes to beat up Fandango some more but Seth Rollins steps in between and prevents him from doing so. He does his best to calm him down and it seems to work as Dean starts taking deep breaths. They go to leave, but Dean just turns and runs outside to attack Fandango again. He clears off the announce table and gets up there with Fandango. Layla and Seth are both trying to get him down but the crowd is going nuts. Dean puts him through the table with Dirty Deeds! Dean grabs a chair and launches it into the ring, continuing to go nuts. “This thing with the Wyatt Family has made Dean Ambrose even more of a lunatic! Wait, Michael. Look at that” says JBL. He notices that Roman Reigns, in the clothes he wore on Monday, is watching his former brother go nuts from the rafters. Seth seems to finally get Dean to calm and they leave.
Renee Young is in the back with her guest at this time, John Cena. One of the challengers for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam steps into the picture. She welcomes him back and asks him for his thoughts on Brock Lesnar and his match tonight. Cena says that it feels great to be back where he belongs. “As far as Brock Lesnar is concerned, if you watched the Raw Backstage Pass this past Monday, you know how I feel. That man is an animal and there is no denying that Daniel Bryan and I are in for one hell of a fight. As for tonight though, I’m back and I’m looking for an opponent!” Cena says that he wasn’t officially booked for tonight, so the Authority will only allow him to compete if he can find an opponent. Suddenly, Chris Jericho enters the shot. They shake hands and Jericho says that when he returned, he wanted to face the best guys in the world. “I consider you to be near the top of that list and I would love to face you tonight.” Cena looks at Renee Young and likes the idea, agreeing to the match, giving us our main event. NO DISQUALIFICATION: ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. CODY RHODES; A few weeks back, Alberto Del Rio injured the arm of Cody Rhodes’ brother, Goldust. Since then, Goldust has turned on Cody and Del Rio has become a bit of a hired gun for the Authority. Despite everything that went down between Cody and Goldust, the younger Rhodes wants revenge on Del Rio for injuring him too. They take things outside relatively quickly and Cody throws him into the guardrail. He then takes out some steel chairs and throws them all into the ring to a pop. The mean streak in Cody leads him to set Del Rio up for an Alabama Slam onto the chairs which hits to a sickening thud! Del Rio wisely rolls outside to avoid getting pinned. Cody goes out to get him, but from out of nowhere, Goldust appears and throws him face first into the ring post. He grabs a steel chair, still showing little to no emotion and whacks Cody on the back before hitting the Curtain Call on the outside. He leaves to boos, as Del Rio rolls Cody inside. The resilient Cody manages to get up to his knees, but Del Rio puts him down with a vicious superkick. Alberto Del Rio defeats Cody Rhodes in 12:27!The crowd gives a mixed reaction, though it’s a bit heavier on boos. He gets to his feet and beats his chest before motioning around his waist. “Look at that John. It was on Monday that Alberto Del Rio told Triple H that he wanted a shot at Bad News Barrett and the United States Title and it looks like he hasn’t given up on that want” says Michael Cole.
A vignette airs, showcasing the WWE Women’s Champion, Paige. We see some footage of her winning the Divas Championship in her home country before deciding to throw that down and bring back the Women’s Championship. During the vignette, she says that her dream was always to wear the Women’s Title and she has now made it a reality. “Stephanie McMahon is not happy with me and is doing everything she can to take this belt away from me. But that’s not gonna happen. She can put every challenger and every roadblock in front of me but it won’t matter.” Following that a graphic appears to remind everyone that Trish Stratus will return to the WWE this Monday as the guest host of Raw! EMMA VS. NIKKI BELLA W/ BRIE BELLA; The Bellas are already in the ring after the Paige video and Trish Stratus graphic and they do not look impressed. One would say they even look annoyed. Once this begins, Nikki continues to show aggression by attacking quickly with some hard shots. As she pounds on Emma, she can be heard saying “this is our division”, but that arrogance allows Emma to roll her up for two. Emma gets in some offense, including the Emma-mite sandwich and Dil-Emma. She calls for the Emma Lock, but Nikki kicks her off into the corner and then connects on a stiff forearm. The Rack Attack is next and that’s enough for the win. Nikki Bella defeats Emma in 3:17!Boos are heard from the WWE Universe as Brie Bella enters the ring to congratulate her sister. Nikki Bella is pleased with the win but looks down at Emma in disgust. Both Bella Twins are gunning for the Women’s Championship and seem to believe that they run the Divas division thanks to their prominent role on Total Divas.
The Evolution theme music hits as Batista and Randy Orton walk out to the arena in street clothes and get booed loudly. We are taken to a replay from Raw where Randy Orton pinned Jimmy Uso in a six man tag team match. Once they enter the ring, it is Orton who speaks first. He claims that at Battleground, their goal was to win the WWE Tag Team Titles, but with the Wyatt Family and the Shield involved, that never happened. “So this past Monday, we told Triple H that we wanted our rightful title match. But we aren’t just the kinds of guys who ask for something. We go out and take it, which is just what we did on Monday when I pinned Jimmy Uso’s shoulders to mat.” He says that Triple H has given them exactly what they deserve after their actions on Monday. Batista is handed the microphone and goes to speak, but the music of the Tag Team Champions hits. The Usos come out onto the stage and have microphones. Jimmy says that if they wanted a shot, all they had to do was ask the champs. “My brother and I have dreamed about doing this since we was little boys. We promised everyone that we would be fighting champions. There was no need for you two to try and make some sort of misguided statement. You want a shot, we’ll give them to you.” The crowd cheers while Batista looks surprised. He speaks, questioning their sanity. “The reason we went to Triple H about a title shot and not the two of you is because we figured you’d say no. I had no idea you were this stupid. We obviously accept, but I hope you realize what you’re getting yourselves into. We are two future Hall of Famers, we’ve won twelve World Championships between us and we are going to end the two of you.” He slams the microphone down and his music plays, as the two teams stare each other down. We are set for one major Tag Team Title match down the line. ALEXANDER RUSEV W/ LANA VS. ZACK RYDER; The Alexander Rusev Open Invitational is no more, but Rusev is still looking to crush his competition. Zack Ryder has the crowd firmly in his corner but it honestly doesn’t do much to help him against the “Bulgarian Brute.” Rusev locks in the Accolade and Ryder succumbs to the pain. Alexander Rusev defeats Zack Ryder in 1:05!Lana enters the ring to give Alexander Rusev the signal to break the hold. He does and poses next to her in victory. Rusev wants to go down as the most dominant and greatest WWE Superstar in history and he’s off on the right track right now.
Backstage, Renee Young is standing by with CM Punk. She asks him about the challenge that he issued to Triple H on Raw and the fact that it was declined. Punk gives a slight laugh and says that he honestly should have expected it. “This isn’t the Triple H that was the Game. This isn’t the Cerebral Assassin. The guy I spoke to on Monday was a shell of his former self and he lets his wife wear the pants in the family. I’m going to find a way to get the guy that I want to show his face. And when I do, and he accepts my challenge…I’m gonna beat his ass at SummerSlam.” CHRIS JERICHO VS. JOHN CENA; These two have locked horns more times than they can probably count, but for the first time, it comes out of respect and not a rivalry. Early on, they exchange some stuff that takes them down to the mat, with neither grabbing a real advantage. Chris Jericho is first to strike with a big move, hitting a bulldog into the Lionsault for a close call. John Cena gets one of his own after some big moves, but Jericho is able to counter the STF into the Walls! Cena reaches the ropes to break the hold. Another close call comes when Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment, but Jericho gets his foot on the bottom rope. They come to blows in the center of the ring, with the crowd more behind Jericho. He ducks a shot and nails the Codebreaker but it isn’t enough to put down Cena. Jericho is stunned and sets up for it again, but Cena holds the ropes to block it. He then nails a second AA to end it. John Cena defeats Chris Jericho in 14:04!John Cena stays on his knees, worn out from the action before rising to his feet and raising his arms. “John Cena is successful in his return to the ring, picking up some steam heading into the big match at SummerSlam” says Michael Cole. Chris Jericho begins to slowly get up while Cena celebrates. They stare at each other for a bit before Jericho extends his hand and the two shake. The show ends with Jericho raising Cena’s arm.

Sheamus and Christian putting on a good opening contest for SD. Good ish with Ziggler coming out and saying that he wants the belt. Makes the title seem like something people want. Ambrose snuffing Fandango is solid. Is Roman Reigns actually Sting? Either way it paints a good picture. The no-DQ stip favors Del Rio because Rhodes has to worry about Goldust. Solid match that furthers the feud between the brothers, which is good. Hoss Bella winning was as expected; as long as she doesn't have a nine-year reign I'm all good. Should make for some solid matches between her and Paige on the way. I'm excited and intrigued on how you handle the tag titles with that match announced. It would be a good rub to the Usos if they retain but if Orton and Batista get the belts that could add prestige to them. It's a win/win as long as the match is competitive and something happens coming out of it. But you knew that already. Tong Po crush. Cena winning is smart and gives him momentum going into Summerslam. Another solid episode of SmackDown.

My apologies for not replying to Raw. I would like to compliment how you factored in both Cena and Lesnar in to the main event with Bryan, it should be a hell of a main event to have. KEEP ON KEEPING ON, BRUH. On to Smackdown... starting things off with a match once in a while is always fun and it was an obvious win for Sheamus over Christian... Good promo for Dolph Ziggler afterward, gave him some real good dialouge and him coming for the IC Title is fun stuff. Dean Ambrose pwns Fandango. Fine. I love how he is so upset aobut Roman Reigns not being in The Shield (for the moment, anyway) as it really shows their bond. Nice opportunity for a throwback match with Cena and Jericho facing later on. Fun, big match feel main event for Smackdown. Alberto Del Rio and Cody Rhodes getting some good time with a no disqualifiation match with Del Rio getting the win was fine. I feel bad for Cody with dealing with ADR's bullsh*t and then his brother turning on him. No doubt in my mind he'll turn it all around though. Yeah, we're getting Paige vs Stephanie McMahon at some point. Moving forth, Nikki Bella beating Emma was what it was. The Bella Twins are valid contenders towards the Women's Championship, so. The Usos and Batista/Orton feuding for the WWE Tag Team Championships should be fun, probably culminating in a match at Summerslam. I like how Jimmy and Jey aren't going to back down. Rusev crush, Rusev squash, Rusev throw fish. I mean, Rusev throw Zack Ryder. Fine squash for him. Hoping he gets in to some legitimate feuds down the line now that he is past Neville. CM Punk and Triple H is in the cards, most likely, for the co-main event of Summerslam... it's just a matter of time. Finally, a good main event that was a great feature for Smackdown with no shenanigans. Cena winning his return match was clear and Jericho showing his respect was cool. Nothing to complain about with the consistently good and solid Smackdown, Kev.

Tag Team Title match set for SummerSlam! In recent weeks, Batista and Randy Orton have made it clear that they want their hands on the WWE Tag Team Championships. Last night on Smackdown, they issued a challenge and the champions, the Usos, gladly accepted. No time was officially set until now. The Authority has announced that Batista and Orton get their shot at the "Biggest Party of the Summer"! Can The Usos continue to live their childhood dreams as Tag Team Champions or will Batista and Orton add to their already impressive legacies?

- But I have a question I mean isn't Batista supposed to be gone? I mean at this point in time in real life Batista was gone I mean he has his movie career because doesn't he have Guardians of the Galaxy to be promoting? So again I ask the question why is Batista even still sticking around? Or better yet Batista doesn't he also have the new Bond movie Spectre that he is supposed to be shooting I mean his movie career is about to take off but in your diary he is still here, to me that makes no sense at all
- But as for SummerSlam you have quite the main event here for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, a Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with Daniel Bryan defending his title against Cena and against The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar, Bryan his title reign is in serious jeopardy if you ask me because Bryan he doesn't even have to be pinned or made to submit to lose his title either Cena could pin Brock or submit him or vice versa with Brock pinning Cena or making him submit and Bryan can lose his title that way, but Bryan he has been WWE World Heavyweight Champion since WrestleMania 30 but either way his title reign I don't see it lasting all that much longer

- Daniel Bryan he has never been in the ring with Brock Lesnar The Beast Incarnate but John Cena has been in the ring with Brock so he knows what it is like first hand to not only face Brock but to be beaten by him and Bryan well he has never faced anyone in his life like Brock Lesnar because there is no one like Brock Lesnar let's face it but Bryan he has proven all of the naysayers wrong ever since WrestleMania 30 where he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and he has defended that title against all comers in this diary turning back challenge after challenge but at SummerSlam against both Cena and Brock this might be his toughest challenge to date
- The Usos defending their WWE Tag Team Championships against Batista & Orton, probably The Usos' biggest title defense yet facing off against two former World Champions in Batista and Orton who are multiple time World Champions future WWE Hall of Famers legends in this business and Jimmy & Jey have to face them I mean if The Usos beat Batista & Orton it pretty much solidifies their reign as WWE Tag Team Champions it pretty much elevates their stock when you think about it

Monday Night Raw: August 4th, 2014 – Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas
Before the weekly Raw video package, we see a recap of the personal rivalry between the Shield and the Wyatt Family. With Roman Reigns now a member of the Wyatts, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins put their freedom on the line tonight. If they can beat Erick Rowan and Luke Harper inside a fifteen foot high steel cage, Roman Reigns rejoins them in the Shield, but if they lose, they must also join Bray and his family! Michael Cole and John “Bradshaw” Layfield welcome the WWE Universe to tonight’s jam-packed episode of Monday night Raw. Before they can run down any of tonight’s festivities, the music of John Cena plays and he steps through the curtain. Cena is greeted with is usual mixed reaction as he charges the ring. Once he enters, he grabs a microphone and begins to address the WWE Universe. He begins by reminding everyone about what went down last week during the contract signing with Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan. He says that Brock Lesnar once again proved his dominance, just like he did at WrestleMania. “I’ve been asking myself, how do I beat the man that beat the unbeatable man? How can I or even Daniel Bryan for that matter, beat the man who beat the streak?” Cena says that he’s racked his brain and can only conclude that he must be something he isn’t. He must be the monster that Bray Wyatt brought out in him at some points earlier this year. “I don’t want to do it folks, but if I’m going to become a 15 time World Champion, I need to take drastic measures.” Before Cena can continue, he is interrupted by the recognizable voice of Paul Heyman. He walks out onto the stage and sarcastically claps for Cena. He “congratulates” him on figuring out that Brock Lesnar is unstoppable. “John, I saw the things you were pushed to do against Bray Wyatt and they were indeed brutal. But you need to understand something. Brock Lesnar is a different animal than anyone you’ve ever faced before. Brock Lesnar conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania. Brock Lesnar nearly ended your career two years ago at Extreme Rules.” Heyman says that no matter where Cena or Bryan go or what they do, they will not stop Brock Lesnar. Cena again reminds Heyman that he actually defeated Brock at Extreme Rules, which makes Paul laugh. He says that Brock hasn’t forgotten that and will make Cena pay for it at SummerSlam. “I actually came out here for a different reason though. Besides addressing you, I wanted to let you know that the Authority has a match scheduled for you. Since you are going to be facing THE beast at SummerSlam, tonight you will face A beast. A beast from this very state. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Mark Henry!” The crowd pops for Mark Henry, who appears in a University of Texas shirt as John Cena gets ready for the opening contest. JOHN CENA VS. MARK HENRY; This is not the first rodeo between these two guys, having met several times over the past few years. Commentary informs us that Daniel Bryan will also be facing a beast of sorts later tonight in preparation for SummerSlam. John Cena continually tries to hoist Mark Henry up, but has some trouble doing so. Henry pounds away on Cena’s back and goes for a big splash but Cena is able to roll away from it. He then is able to score with the Attitude Adjustment and picks up the win. John Cena defeats Mark Henry in 4:08!The WWE Universe comes to their feet with a very vocal mixed response as John Cena is declared the victor. He jumps up and raises his arms in the air, picking up a win over one of the most intimidating and imposing Superstars in WWE history. John Cena seems absolutely ready for Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan and SummerSlam!
Returning, the WWE gives a special thanks to Travie McCoy for supplying the theme song to this year’s SummerSlam, “Keep on Keeping on”!
We are now taken to a vignette for Daniel Bryan. It features footage of his rise to the top, while he talks over them. He speaks about SummerSlam, admitting that he’s never stepped into the ring with Brock Lesnar before. “When Brock left this business, I was just cutting my teeth. Now, our paths have a chance to cross and I am not going to back down. People doubt my ability against him because of our size difference and his legitimate fighting background. To that I say I don’t care. People doubted me against Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton at WrestleMania. They doubted me against Bray Wyatt at Money in the Bank and they doubted me against CM Punk last month. You know when else I was doubted? Last year at SummerSlam when I pinned John Cena 1-2-3 in the middle of that ring. I plan on doing the same to him or Brock this year.” BIG SHOW VS. BO DALLAS; Since making his return a few weeks ago, Big Show has gone after the annoying Bo Dallas. Tonight, he gets a real shot at him and Bo is clearly afraid. He does everything he can to avoid Show, but gets caught with some loud chops. Bo rolls outside to catch his breath, but Show follows. He charges Bo, who dodges and Show crashes into the steel steps. Bo slides inside as the referee counts to ten. Bo Dallas defeats Big Show via countout in 1:42!The fans boo loudly as Bo Dallas celebrates his victory in his typical overdramatic fashion. He runs around the ring but stops to grab a microphone. He says that he told everyone that he could beat the smallest and biggest that the WWE has to offer, because he Bolieves. The angry giant that is the Big Show gets to his feet and is furious. He enters the ring but Bo sees him on the Titantron and quickly runs out and up the ramp.
Cutting backstage, the Authority are in their office. Randy Orton tells Triple H that he, Kane and Sheamus are about to go out and destroy the Usos and Dolph Ziggler. Triple H smiles and says that’s what he likes to hear. “I know that Batista is off promoting Guardians of the Galaxy again and won’t be back until next Monday, but I believe in the three of you.” They head off, leaving Triple H with Stephanie McMahon. She questions him about the match with CM Punk which surprises him. “I thought you hated that twerp as much as I do.” Stephanie says that she does hate him, but she remembers WrestleMania. “Actually, I remember WrestleMania, Extreme Rules and Payback. No offense, but you weren’t a winner in any of those matches. I don’t want us to look bad as a family, when we’re supposed to be in control.” Triple H is taken aback by this and tells her that he needs to clear his head away from her. DOLPH ZIGGLER AND THE USOS VS. KANE, SHEAMUS AND RANDY ORTON; Outside of Kane subbing in for Batista, this is a pretty big preview of what’s to come at SummerSlam. As one expects, the team of Dolph Ziggler and the Usos start hot but eventually run into trouble following a cheap shot from Sheamus. This allows the Authority team to isolate Jey Uso with quick tags and cutting the ring in half. Throughout the match, Randy Orton yells at Jey and even at Jimmy on the apron about how they aren’t in his league. Jey manages to slap the taste of Orton’s mouth and make the hot tag to Dolph. He comes in, lighting everyone on fire with his offense. He scores some near falls before a really cool moment comes as he and the Usos triple superkick Kane out of the ring. Unfortunately, things go downhill after, when Sheamus Brogue Kicks Jimmy to end things. Kane, Sheamus and Randy Orton defeat Dolph Ziggler and the Usos in 13:42!Austin is full of disappointed fans as the Authority enjoys their win. Kane does his best to be happy but he did take three kicks to the face a few minutes ago. Sheamus certainly is looking strong heading into a major Intercontinental Title defense at SummerSlam. Dolph Ziggler and Jey Uso check on Jimmy as the winners head up the ramp.
Similar to the Daniel Bryan video that aired earlier, we now get one for John Cena. We see a bunch of footage of his long list of career accomplishments as he talks over them, saying that he’s nowhere done with his career. “Yea, I have a chance to win my 15th WWE Championship at SummerSlam, but that match is going to be about more. I thank Daniel Bryan for giving me the shot because this is about redemption. Last year, I gave Daniel a chance when nobody else would and he beat me. Fair and square in the middle of the ring. I’ve lived with that for a year now and it’s about time I get a chance to even the score. As for Brock Lesnar, yea I defeated him two years ago but if you watch that match, I did not look like a winner. He beat me from pillar to post and that is an image I want to overwrite with a shot of me standing over him at SummerSlam. One way or another, I will be the WWE Champion again.” AGE OF ENLIGHTENMENT W/ TITUS O’NEIL VS. KOFI KINGSTON AND ROB VAN DAM; Last month, Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam were assaulted by Batista and Randy Orton. Since then, they’ve only teamed sparingly, but tonight look to get back into the ranks against the tandem of Xavier Woods and Damien Sandow. Sandow and Woods play the smart game, using their brains to lead their offense. However, Titus O’Neil miscues a trip at ringside and catches Sandow by mistake. Sandow questions him but turns into Trouble in Paradise for the three. Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam defeat the Age of Enlightenment in 3:00!The team of Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam have their hands raised in victory and leave the ring. Xavier Woods and Damien Sandow are not pleased with Titus O’Neil. Woods gets in his face, but Sandow gets in between, breaking things up. He then turns and seems to scold Titus as well before all three men exit.
Returning from commercial, Cody Rhodes makes his way out to the ring, with a serious look on his face, which has been the case for the past few weeks. He is in a suit and he reminds everyone of what happened at Battleground, before turning his attention to what he said on Smackdown. “I would like for you all to welcome my father, Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes.” The fans pop in unison for the arrival of Dusty, who waves to them but also seems to be in a somber mood. He enters the ring, hugs his son and grabs a microphone. He starts by saying that the past few weeks have been very troublesome for his family. He calls out Goldust, but gets no response. Dusty then shouts and demands for Goldust to join them, which he finally does. When he enters the ring, Dusty speaks right to his face, saying that things were going so well. “Last year at Battleground, the three of us stood side by side together as you got your jobs back. I have never been prouder in my entire life. Then, I watched from my seat at home as you two formed a team and won the Tag Team Championships. It was a damn beautiful thing. What the hell happened?” Goldust looks up at him, points to Cody and says “ask him.” Dusty and Cody are both surprised, but Dusty keeps Cody back, saying he’ll handle it. He asks Goldust what he means by that. “I know you guys had hit a rough patch, but you could have worked through it. You’re family and what has happened has torn us apart.” Goldust replies by telling Dusty to place the blame on Cody for going off on his own and trying to leave him in the dust. Cody’s face falls as he realizes what his brother has been feeling. He walks towards him only to be struck with a big right hand. Dusty gets in between them and Goldust shoves him to the mat as well! Cody immediately goes to check on his dad, while Goldust just leaves as the fans boo. ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. THE MIZ W/ SUMMER RAE; The Miz has been one of the Superstars mentioning that he wants to win some gold soon. Alberto Del Rio on the other hand, has taken action in his quest for a title, earning a United States Championship at SummerSlam. His opponent for that night, Bad News Barrett, is on commentary badmouthing him. Miz does pretty well for himself, but ducks hard for cover when Del Rio does after his face. Protecting the “money maker” proves to be his downfall as Del Rio rolls him up for two, but goes right into the Cross Armbreaker. Miz tries to reach the ropes but ends up having to tap out. Alberto Del Rio defeats The Miz in 5:16!As Summer Rae lets out a scream of disappointment, Alberto Del Rio has his arm raised and he stares directly at Bad News Barrett. Barrett simply raises his United States Title in the air in one arm while hoisting up his Money in the Bank briefcase with the other. These two are ready to clash at SummerSlam.
Returning, Jerry Lawler stands up from his seat at commentary with a microphone to make an announcement. “Next week, Monday night Raw will take place on August 11th. That just so happens to be the birthday of WWE Hall of Famer and WrestleMania XXX host, Hulk Hogan!” The crowd cheers at the mention of Hulk’s name before popping harder when Jerry announces that next week, Hulk will be at Raw for a birthday celebration!
We go to a recap of last week when the Bella Twins jumped WWE Women’s Champion Paige. Paige was then saved by WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Trish then got on the microphone and backed Paige’s decision to bring back the Women’s Title, which upset the Bella Twins. Tom Phillips is now standing by with the Women’s Champion herself, Paige. He asks for her thoughts on Trish Stratus supporting her and the attack the Bellas laid on her this past Friday on Smackdown. Paige responds by saying that first, she is proud to have Trish support her because she’s one of the women that she looked up to. “As for the Bellas, I feel like this is going to keep happening. They have an advantage being up two on one, especially when they attack from behind. So, this Friday on Smackdown, I am set to take on Brie Bella. To make sure that Nikki minds her business, I’ve given Trish Stratus a call and she will be in my corner!” The crowd cheers knowing that Trish will be on Smackdown this week! NON-TITLE MATCH: DANIEL BRYAN VS. RYBACK W/ CURTIS AXEL; Daniel Bryan comes out for his match against a “beast” and it is revealed to be Ryback. This proves to be a tough match for the WWE Champion because Ryback is still an imposing force despite recent losses. He throws Bryan around, showing that this could be exactly the case come SummerSlam. Bryan continues to show that he is a resilient champion though. He fights back with a string of kicks that send the “Big Guy” reeling. Bryan finishes off the flurry with the Busaiku Knee for the win. Daniel Bryan defeats Ryback in 5:49!Daniel Bryan gets to his feet with the crowd behind him. Curtis Axel helps Ryback out of the ring while Bryan is handed his titles. The fans shout “Yes” along with him as he definitely looks ready for Brock Lesnar and John Cena at SummerSlam. We are reminded that we will have a special word with Brock Lesnar later tonight.
The Wyatt signature hits as Bray Wyatt appears on screen in a dark room, with Erick Rowan, Luke Harper and Roman Reigns flanking him. He talks into the camera saying that tonight is the night. “Tonight, we add to the ranks of my family. Roman here is a project. A project that I am molding. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, you will not interfere with that!” He continues by saying that the former Shield doesn’t approve of what he’s done with Roman Reigns. “At first, I desperately wanted you to understand that I am helping him. But then I realized that it doesn’t matter. Your views are insignificant. You see, a lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinions of sheep. Tonight, you two join us and become lions.”
NON-TITLE MATCH: BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. CM PUNK; It was Bad News Barrett who was the first to attack CM Punk during his match with Alberto Del Rio last week. Punk attacks quickly, firing away in the corner with a series of strikes, causing Barrett to back out and regroup outside. The aggressive Punk gives him no time to breathe though, coming at him with a suicide dive. The two men trade blows outside for a bit and nearly get counted out, before Punk rolls Barrett inside. He grabs a steel chair and, despite the referee’s best efforts, whacks Barrett in the back, causing the DQ. Bad News Barrett defeats CM Punk via disqualification in 4:09!The bell rings but CM Punk doesn’t stop, wailing on Bad News Barrett with a few more steel chair shots. The music of the COO hits as Triple H comes out, taking his blazer off, looking to do something about this assault. He gets ready to enter, with Punk daring him to do so. Barrett rolls outside as Triple H gets on the apron, but he backs off deciding not to fight. The fans boo loudly as Triple H helps Barrett and says wait until SummerSlam. Punk doesn’t want to wait, exiting the ring and coming after them. Triple H has security step in between them to hold the furious CM Punk back. ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. FANDANGO W/ LAYLA; During his entrance, we see an insert promo from Fandango, where he says that he is sick of losing and is throwing his name into the mix of Superstars vying for some gold. As the match begins, he actually gets in some offense and looks to quickly win with his top rope leg drop. Unfortunately for him, he misses and Adrian Neville goes into a flurry. He climbs to the top and puts away Fandango with the Red Arrow. Adrian Neville defeats Fandango in 2:21!Adrian Neville leaps to his feet and points to the sky before being handed his NXT Championship. He raises it high in the air, continuing his hot streak since debuting on the main roster. Layla enters the ring to check on Fandango, who continues to struggle.
Renee Young is now standing by with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Seth is ready to talk but Dean is leaning on the wall, fuming. She asks Seth about their mindset heading into the Steel Cage match tonight. Dean jumps in before Seth can speak and asks how she thinks their mindset is. “Have you seen me these past few weeks? There is no way that we can lose tonight. I will not be a pawn in Bray Wyatt’s sick game.” Dean tails off, walking off screen in anger. Seth takes a calmer approach saying that they know how important tonight is. “Tonight is about bringing the Shield back together and finishing the Wyatt Family.”
The ring is now set up for the Highlight Reel and the fans come to their feet for the arrival of Chris Jericho. He makes his way to the ring while commentary reminds us of the attack he suffered last week on Raw. When Jericho starts to speak, he welcomes everyone to the Highlight Reel and directs the viewers to the Titantron, where we see footage of Alexander Rusev’s attack last week. Jericho says that he thinks he knows why that happened, but he wants to bring out Rusev to hear it from him. Lana and Alexander Rusev oblige and walk out to the ring to enormous boos. Lana has the microphone first, telling Jericho that he’s lucky they showed up. “You do not summon Rusev. He is not some commoner. You request his presence. The only reason we are out here now is to tell you exactly what happened last week and what will happen going forward. Alexander Rusev is here to be the greatest Superstar in WWE history. He showed that when he defeated Big Show at Extreme Rules, he showed it when he took down Jack Swagger’s America and he showed it when he ran through every single person who dared take the Rusev Invitational.” Jericho comments that Rusev is also $5000 poorer because he couldn’t beat Adrian Neville in five minutes. Lana isn’t amused. She says that in order for Rusev to be the greatest of all-time, he needs to show his dominance against the past, present and future. She brings up Jim Duggan, who Rusev destroyed a while back and says that he was the past, just like Jericho. “You are a legend Chris, but legends have an expiration date. Rusev is going to crush you to prove his dominance.” Jericho is serious as he tells Lana, “listen sister, I’m standing right here. That makes me the present and if you want to try and ‘crush’ me, give it your best shot.” Rusev steps forward but Lana stops him, telling Jericho that attacking him doesn’t mean as much as beating him in a match. Jericho puts his hand up to her face, telling her not to talk. “I’m talking to you right now Rusev. People have come and gone and tried to use me as a stepping stone junior. It won’t work. You want a match with me? Face me at SummerSlam. I want you to accept, not your puppeteer.” Rusev takes the microphone from Lana and accepts before stepping back and delivering a big time superkick to Jericho. Rusev stands over Jericho, who is holding his jaw, and poses next to Lana. EMMA VS. NIKKI BELLA W/ BRIE BELLA; The Bella Twins are not happy with the announcement that Trish Stratus will be back on Smackdown. Nikki seems hellbent on taking out her frustrations on Emma. She pounds away on her in the corner, but Emma comes back with the Dil-EMMA. She follows with her trademark Emma mite Sandwich and seems ready for her finisher but Brie gets on the apron. Emma charges and knocks her off. This does give Nikki the quick break that she needs though, because she scores with the Rack Attack and the three count. Nikki Bella defeats Emma in 3:48!As the bell rings, Brie Bella holds her jaw and slides in to stand side by side with her victorious sister. Nikki Bella raises her arms and looks into the camera, saying “bring it Trish”. She’ll be at ringside when Paige faces Brie on Friday.
A vignette now airs to hype Brock Lesnar, similar to what we saw for John Cena and Daniel Bryan earlier. This is interesting because as the footage of his long list of career highlights is shown, we actually hear from Brock rather than Paul Heyman. “I’m an ass kicker. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. People were shocked when I beat the Undertaker at WrestleMania. Why? Look at me. Why wouldn’t I beat the Undertaker? There is nothing mythical about Brock Lesnar.” Brock states that he nearly ended the career of John Cena in 2012 and he plans on finishing the job at SummerSlam. “As for Daniel Bryan? Please. I will break that little twerp in half. Understand this people. I’m going into SummerSlam. I’m gonna kick John Cena’s ass. I’m gonna kick Daniel Bryan’s ass. I’m gonna walk out as the WWE Champion.” Brock ends the promo by saying that children shouldn’t watch this match. “Your heroes will get beaten. It’s gonna get ugly people.” STEEL CAGE MATCH: DEAN AMBROSE AND SETH ROLLINS VS. ERICK ROWAN AND LUKE HARPER W/ BRAY WYATT AND ROMAN REIGNS; Once Erick Rowan and Luke Harper enter the confines of the cage, Dean Ambrose charges and attacks, showing that he truly is unstable. Seth Rollins tries to do the same, but is laid out by Harper. This is an all-out chaotic brawl with no tagging and just four guys going to war. The camera is sure to catch Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns at ringside, as Bray is calm but Roman goes through a ton of different emotions. Inside, the Wyatts are in firm control and Reigns looks defeated. Bray gets up and demands that Roman watch as this all comes to an end. Rowan holds up Rollins for a lariat, but he ducks and Harper takes out his partner. Bray starts to lose his cool a bit now and even more when Dean and Seth both hit signature moves on Harper. Bray shouts for Roman to enter the cage but he refuses. The crowd pops when he tells Bray no. Bray is in disbelief and decides to take matters into his own hands. He strikes the referee and steals the key to the cage door. He goes to open it but Reigns slams it shut, preventing him from getting inside, drawing another loud roar of cheers from the WWE Universe. Dean plants Rowan with Dirty Deeds to end the match. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeat Erick Rowan and Luke Harper in 14:17!The WWE Universe explodes as Roman Reigns is now officially free of the Wyatt Family. Bray Wyatt yells at him to stay, but Reigns lays him out with the Superman punch! He enters the ring with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins and they pause, staring across at each other. Reigns extends his fist out, which Ambrose and Rollins do as well, signaling their official reunion. Dean seems to have an idea as the Shield move Harper and Rowan’s bodies and throw them out of the cage. Reigns then grabs Bray and brings him in the cage, locking it behind him. “Oh man, Bray Wyatt is about to get what’s coming to him” says Michael Cole. When Bray stirs and gets to his feet, he realizes that he is surrounded by the Shield. Bray stands his ground, shouting “DO WHAT YOU MUST! I AM THE EATER OF WORLDS! YOU WILL NEVER STOP ME!” He goes to continue but Roman Reigns wipes him out with a massive spear. The Shield then call for it and deliver the Triple Powerbomb to the crowd’s liking. The reunited Shield put their fists together over Bray Wyatt as the show fades to black.

Solid opening promo by Punk and interesting that Trish doesn't come out and host right away. Real good opener and Punk getting the W is the right way, especially with the finish. The inner conflictions of Del Rio were pretty cool and it makes the US Title seem meaningful, which is absolutely a plus. Still loving the dynamic with Reigns and the Wyatts. Liked the finish of Reigns/RVD too. Cool post-match interactions with the Shield. Dallas beat El Torito. Match of the century. BIG SHOW! Good stuff with the Bellas and Paige, and that was a smart move including Trish in that segment. Liking Dolph beating Orton, and awaiting the Ziggy/Sheamus match with bated breath. Good stuff with Cody and Goldust. Fun match with the Cena/D-Bry dynamic; them winning was certainly the right call and the post-match staredown was a neat touch. Great Jericho/Neville match and I dig the spot from Monday's Rollins/Neville match too. Tong Po/Jericho should be the good stuff. The contract signing was fun and Lesnar standing tall at the end was the right decision. You delivered on your word as this was a big Raw that played out well.

Alright, you said this was a big Raw so it BETTER BE. I'm here... you're here... let's... do... this? CM Punk coming out with the challenge to Triple H again has to lead to something right? Kane in charge before Trish is here? Boo. I hope when Trish shows up we get a close up of her assets. I mean, what? Anyway, Kane putting Punk up against Alberto Del Rio fits the dynamic of what we've seen as of late. You botched the result of the first match, by the way, but BNB coming in to assist in beating down Punk was confusing at first, but made sense with HHH making the demand that Punk has his arm broken. Alberto's turn was nicely done, but my only complaint would be is that with all of this going on is that Punk actually getting his match with HHH seems overlooked. Hey, it's Trish and her assets! Meeting with Cena to start? Of course. Slut. I mean, what? Him and Bryan vs Rybaxel is a fitting match. I dig it. HHH being escorted out of the arena was the luls, too. The situation with Roman Reigns and The Wyatt Family has become really interesting and I'm curious where you go with it. Haha, Roman Reigns beat RVD in 4:20. Rob digs that, sucka. I liked the idea of Reigns attacking his former Sheild brethren being teased, but not leading to anything between them. Bo Dallas beat El Torito. How impressive... hey, from little guy to big guy, it's DA BIG SHOWWW. This seems like a Summerslam Kickoff type match you're leading to. I really liked the promo time we got for the women with Trish Stratus being on the side of Paige up against The Bella Twins. Maybe a one time match for Trish at Summerslam to form a tag match? Maybe? Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton getting some solid time was fun and a clean win for Ziggler was fantastic for him over the likes of Orton. Sheamus vs Dolph for the IC Title at Summerslam? Sounds good to me. Damn, Goldust is a prick ain't he? Not even going to answer Cody!? Son of a bitch. I know in the end we'll get something good from Cody out of this split, which is the most important part, but I'm liking how you've given Goldust some intrigue with his silence in this step-up feud for Cody. Obvious win for Cena and Bryan over Rybaxel; no surprises here. Alicia Fox and Eva Marie over The Funkadactyls was what it was for me, nothing special but the inevitable future split of Cameron and Naomi being teased upon. Adrian Neville and Chris Jericho got some great time and despite the victory for Jericho, Neville looked good. Rusev targeting Jericho? That'll be an interesting feud and something good for Rusev. Hey, a contract signing. Totally not going to end in chaos or nothing! Ironic I just finished watching Brock/Cena from ER 2012 as I see you note it. A good final segment and Brock cleaning house was good; I fully expect him to walk out the champ at Summerslam. A good edition of Raw.

7/30/14 Edition
- There was talk of doing a large round robin tournament in the style of NJPW's G1 Climax. Creative really wants to do this but a vast majority of the plans for the remainder of the year are already set in stone. That would mean that something like this would have to be shoehorned in and they don't want to do so. There will be still be a tournament later in the year and the round robin tournament plan may be pushed back until 2015.
- The WWE has recently signed some major independent names to deals. Fergal Devitt, Kevin Steen, Jessie McKay and Cassie McIntosh have all inked deals with the WWE and should be working in NXT within the next few months.
- The next NXT live special is set to be announced very soon. The WWE wants to hold these quarterly since the first two have been successful. There is talk that Adrian Neville will be dropping the NXT Championship soon since he is on the main roster. On the flip side, creative is happy with the exposure that the NXT Title is getting on Raw and Smackdown so that may not be the case.
- Expect to see more shine for the WWE Divas division. Considering the recent appearance by Trish Stratus, the popularity of champion Paige, the buzz around the NXT women's division and the success of Total Divas, the girls are in high demand. A high profile match is already scheduled for SummerSlam and there are currently two women's matches on tap for Night of Champions. Also, there has been some discussion to giving the women an entire episode of Smackdown to work with.

WWE NXT: July 31st, 2014 – Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida
Things open tonight with the weekly NXT intro video. Then, we cut straight to the arena where Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Renee Young welcome us to the show. We head to the ring for our opening contest. COREY GRAVES VS. SIN CARA; Last week, Sin Cara came up short as Sami Zayn’s tag team partner but looks to rebound in singles action here. Unfortunately for him, he runs into a very game Corey Graves. He continue to show off his very vicious streak, targeting the leg of the masked Superstar. Sin Cara is able to take Graves down, but his leg gives out when he attempts a springboard move. Like a shark smelling blood, Graves locks in Lucky 13, resulting in the finish. Corey Graves defeats Sin Cara in 2:40!With the bell ringing, a look comes across the face of Corey Graves and he refuses to break the submission. Sin Cara continues to tap out but Graves just wrenches down harder. The crowd pops when the music of NXT Champion Adrian Neville hits. He rushes out and, just as Graves lets go of the move, comes to blows with the man. They continue to trade shots until Neville goes into his combination of strikes. When he tries the spin kick however, Graves catches his foot and yanks it into Lucky 13! Neville reaches the ropes but can’t escape the hold as Graves just applies more and more pressure. Graves finally releases the hold and picks up the NXT Championship, hoisting it high in the air as Neville writhes around the ring, holding his leg in pain.
Backstage, Jojo is standing by with “Prince Pretty”, Tyler Breeze. She asks him about his rather tainted win over Evan Bourne last week. Tyler gives a disgusted look and says that nothing was tainted. “I had nothing to do whatever Solomon Crowe decided to try last week. I was going to get up and knock that ghastly looking Evan Bourne off the top rope anyway.” Jojo changes to ask him about what’s next for him. Tyler says that he is going to do what he’s always set out to do and that’s rid NXT of all of the uggos. “Trust me Jojo that is going to take a while.”
An advertisement runs to promote “Sunday Night SummerSlam” on the WWE Network. This Sunday, use the live stream to relive one of the most historic SummerSlam events in history from the year 1998. Witness the “Highway to Hell” as Steve Austin defends the WWF Championship against the Undertaker while the Rock and Triple H engage in an epic ladder match! NON-TITLE: THE ASCENION VS. ANGELO DAWKINS AND OLIVER GREY; Since becoming of the first ever NXT Tag Team Champions, Oliver Grey has been unable to find real success. He was unable to pick up a win with Sami Zayn a few weeks back and makes for an interesting pairing with the happy go lucky Angelo Dawkins. The Ascension are still on a mission to prove their dominance. Their focus is mostly on Dawkins as they cut the ring in half and nail the Fall of Man for the win. The Ascension defeats Angelo Dawkins and Oliver Grey in 2:11!A mixed reaction rains down from the stands in Full Sail University as the Ascension once again pick up a win. For nearly a year now, they have been the top tag team in NXT. Viktor grabs a microphone and directs his comments towards Sami Zayn. “Sami Zayn. We’ve watch you come out here for the past few weeks and fail. You fail at picking a viable partner and you fail at winning, yet we’re supposed to believe that you’re going to take these belts from us?” Konnor takes over, saying that they the best tag team in the world and they prove it week in and week out. “How about this Sami? You get seven nights to find yourself a tag team partner. Next week right here, we will put our titles on the line against you and whoever is dumb enough to team with you. Believe us, it will end in total anni-YAH-lation.”
An ad runs for the WWE Shop, showing various Superstars and Divas wearing official WWE Shop gear set to tune of “Jungle” by Jamie N Commons. Jojo is standing by again, but this time is with Sami Zayn. She wants his thoughts on what the Ascension just said. Sami seems to be thinking hard and snaps out of it to answer. He admits that he hasn’t found the right partner just yet. “The Ascension are absolutely right when they say that I’ve failed. But you see, they may have just made a big mistake. I have an idea for a partner that will click perfectly with me and, knowing that the Titles will be on the line is the extra motivation that I need.” NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP - CHARLOTTE (C) VS. SUMMER RAE; The two former BFFs come face to face at the start of the match and you can clearly see some trash talk going on. Summer Rae blatantly disrespects her opponent by piefacing her. Charlotte comes back with a big spear, giving this match a big time start. The girls trade beating each other up around the ring. Summer proves to be too overconfident, as she does a few nonchalant pins that allow Charlotte to get her shoulder up. Summer looks for the Summer Crush, but Charlotte turns it around into Natural Selection. She hooks the leg but Summer gets her foot on the bottom rope. Charlotte can’t believe this but quickly recovers by pulling Summer to the middle of the ring. She locks in the figure four with a bridge, calling it the figure eight. Summer has no choice but tap out. Charlotte defeats Summer Rae to retain the NXT Women’s Championship in 5:03!The match ends as commentary mentions that Charlotte has just beaten the originator of the BFFs. Combine that with the fact that she currently holds the NXT Women’s Championship and you have to consider her the top of the mountain among women in NXT. Charlotte raises the title in the air as the fans cheer for her shutting up Summer Rae.
Returning, we get a similar vignette to what we saw last week. Last week’s was focused on Becky Lynch, but this one highlights Alexa Bliss. We see her and her bubbly personality talk about how she plans on taking the NXT women’s division by storm and how blissful it will be. MASON RYAN VS. BUDDY MURPHY; If you keep up with NXT live events, you’ll know that Buddy Murphy is a bit of a hot prospect. Mason Ryan though, has been an unstoppable force and proves to be that again here. Despite getting in some shots, Murphy falls to Ryan’s neckbreaker rack finisher. Mason Ryan defeats Buddy Murphy in 0:39!The fans cheer as Mason Ryan continues to dominate. They, just like commentary and the viewers at home wonder if anyone can match this machine.
We are taken to a recap that shows footage from last week’s main event. Evan Bourne seemed near victory when Solomon Crowe style technical issues distracted him and caused him to lose to Tyler Breeze. We go to Jojo for an interview with Evan Bourne but it is quickly cut off and interrupted by “A Message from Solomon Crowe.” He is sitting in a dark room with his control pad and says that nobody needs to know what Evan Bourne thinks about all of this. “All that matters is how I feel. You see, a few weeks ago I told everyone that it was out with the old and in with the new here in NXT. After saying this what do I see? I see Evan Bourne, the old, show up and think that he can have a spot here. There is no time for him. It’s all about the new. It’s all about someone like me, the man who sent Adam Rose packing from NXT.” He says that Evan Bourne is going to learn who really controls things in NXT.
A commercial is shown for SummerSlam, set to “Keep on Keeping On” by Travie McCoy. It shows various WWE Superstars and Divas are they prepare for the biggest event of the summer.
JUSTIN GABRIEL VS. TYSON KIDD W/ NATALYA; The tandem formerly known as International Airstrike explodes here. Justin Gabriel has been trying to find his footing on NXT, while Tyson Kidd has found a new attitude and some success. Due to their history of being partners, both guys know each other well and are able to counter most things. Kidd seems to hurt his knee, causing Natalya, the referee and Gabriel to all show concern. It’s all a trick though as he uses that opening to take advantage and target the lower back of Gabriel. This leads to him trying the Sharpshooter, but Gabriel kicks him off and nails a tornado DDT. He climbs up for the 450 splash as Tyson shouts something to Natalya, pointing at Justin. She gets in the ring, standing in front of her husband, though she clearly doesn’t want to get involved. Justin climbs down to reason with her, allowing Tyson to trip him up and apply the Sharpshooter. Justin gives in and taps out. Tyson Kidd defeats Justin Gabriel in 10:08!Tyson Kidd celebrates the win like he just won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He hugs Natalya, who is still obviously not comfortable with how things went down. Tyson brags to some fans at ringside until his theme music stops. A video then plays on the tron, showing footage of what looks to be Japan. It cuts to images of Hideo Itami throwing kicks and punches as the crowd goes nuts. The footage ends with the words “ HIDEO ITAMI IS COMING TO NXT” flashing across the screen. Tyson Kidd isn’t pleased with this but the fans are going nuts.

Friday Night Smackdown: August 1st, 2014 – American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas
Smackdown opens with the weekly intro video before cutting to the arena where Michael Cole and John “Bradshaw” Layfield introduce the show. The camera pans to show the jam packed arena in Corpus Christi, Texas before going to the ring for our opening contest. NON-TITLE MATCH: BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. CHRISTIAN; Kicking off the evening is some hot in-ring action as the current United States Champion takes on someone who held the belt earlier this year, Christian. Bad News Barrett holds his Money in the Bank briefcase up and trash talks his opponent, so Christian just straight up slaps him. They trade offense for most of the match, with neither guy gaining a true upper hand. Christian scores a close near fall on a sunset flip and begins to clap for the Killswitch. He tries it but Barrett shoves him off into the corner before hitting the Bull Hammer for the win. Bad News Barrett defeats Christian in 7:57!Bad News Barrett asks for a microphone during his celebration. He says that this past Monday, we witnessed a travesty when Alberto Del Rio turned his back on the Authority. “He did the dirty work for us, but all of a sudden became a greedy piece of garbage. Actually, you know what? Alberto, I know you’re back there, get your ass out here!” He doesn’t have to wait long as “El Patron” himself comes out to the stage. Barrett says that Triple H is a man of his word. “He promised that you would get what you wanted and you’ll get it. You and I will meet for the United States Title at SummerSlam.” The crowd cheers as Del Rio smiles and responds by saying that’s all he wanted to hear. “I also want to make one thing clear perro. I didn’t turn my back on the Authority. I was never one of Triple H and Stephanie’s puppets like you. I did what I did to get a shot at that title and at SummerSlam, I am going to take it home!” Barrett replies by saying that he got some other news from Triple H earlier. “Tonight, you’re going to compete in a handicap match against Batista and Randy Orton! Hopefully, you can make it to SummerSlam in one piece.”
Returning from commercial, we hear the sound that signals the arrival of the Shield. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins make their way to the ring to a huge ovation from the Corpus Christi crowd. Dean seems ready to snap again but Seth keeps him calm and is the one to speak. He says that the past two weeks have been the toughest in the history of the Shield. “Not having our brother by our side has been harder to get through than going to war with Evolution, harder than facing off against Team Hell No and harder than losing our Tag Team and United States Titles.” He talks about what it has done to both he, and especially Dean, mentally. “We’re sick and tired of this game and we have a challenge to lay down to the Wyatt Family.” This brings us the Wyatt signature as the entire family, along with Roman Reigns, appear atop the stage. Bray Wyatt talks, saying that he is here to listen to their challenge, but he wants them to know that he is in control. “You boys need to realize that I have been in charge this whole time. That is why Roman Reigns is standing by his real family and not you two.” Seth has to hold Dean back before addressing Bray. He says that they want a shot at bringing Roman Reigns back where he belongs in the Shield. “Dean and I want any two of you in a match and if we win, Roman comes back with us.” Bray throws his head back in laughter, saying he has no reason to accept that challenge. “At Battleground, I not only the match, I won the war! I am Roman Reigns’ new leader and no mere match is going to change that.” Seth thinks for a bit before Dean takes the microphone, trying to sweeten the deal. “What could you possibly want to give us this match? We’ll give you anything.” Seth questions this but Dean ignores him. Bray ponders it and seems to come to a decision. “Alright. This Monday night, you two against myself, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. If you win, Roman Reigns is free.” The fans cheer before Bray adds that if Seth and Dean lose, they are his. “You will do just like Roman here and join the family.” Roman looks up and his eyes tell his former brothers not to risk it. Seth tries to discuss it with Dean, but Dean instantly accepts. Bray laughs loudly and adds that it will be a Steel Cage match to make sure that Roman doesn’t try anything funny. He looks over at Roman, who puts his head down. Dean agrees to the stipulation and a massive match is set for Monday.

She requests his feelings on this. Jericho says that he feels exactly the way you would expect him to. “First, I’m pissed off about it and will get even. I know that a lot of people have wondered why this happened but I think I have an idea. Rusev, or Lana rather, has been going on and on about how he’s the greatest and most dominant Superstar in history. To me, it seems like he’s trying to prove that he’s the alpha male. Instead of being unsure, I’m going to get to the bottom of this. I’m inviting both Lana and Rusev to the Highlight Reel this Monday.” Jericho says that he will find out exactly what the deal is on Raw.
We are now joined atop the stage by Cody Rhodes. He is in a suit and looks to be in a somber mood still. He has a microphone and speaks, saying that for the past two weeks, his life has been in turmoil. “Last year, I thought I couldn’t get any lower than being fired right after getting married. I really thought that was rock bottom. Then, from the ashes, my brother and I rose up and not only got our jobs back but we forged a new relationship that was stronger than it ever had been. Then, at Battleground, with a great opportunity in front of me to become the United States Champion, Dustin turned his back on me. I’ve been trying my best to find an answer but he refuses to respond. I call, I text, I even brought him out in front of me on Raw. Nothing. This is the lowest point of my career and I can’t get Dustin to give me any reason as to why he did what he did.” Cody says that his next step is to do something he didn’t want to have to do. “This Monday night, my father is coming to Raw.” The fans pop at the news. We see footage of the contract signing between Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar and John Cena for the SummerSlam WWE Championship match. Cena and Bryan said their piece to Brock while Paul Heyman did the talking for his client. Now, a recap is shown from this past Monday where CM Punk once again laid out a challenge to the COO, Triple H once again. Kane came out and told him that if he defeated Alberto Del Rio, he could get the match. During the contest, Bad News Barrett and Triple H appeared to attack Punk. Triple H wanted the match and made sure he got it. Things took a turn for the worse though when Del Rio stopped taking orders and superkicked Barrett. This allowed Punk to retaliate and their major confrontation is set for SummerSlam. We are then taken to a snippet from Michael Cole’s weekly wwe.com interview with Triple H. He asks Triple H about the match against CM Punk. Triple H responds by saying that he didn’t want to accept at first. “Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had an issue with CM Punk for years but in the position I hold in this company, it would not be the best idea for me to do what I wanna do to him. I may not like him personally, but a healthy Punk is best for business. After talking it over with Stephanie, I realized that the WWE is bigger than CM Punk. I need to shut his trap for good and I’m going to do that at SummerSlam.”
Coming right out of that video, CM Punk’s music hits as he comes out and walks down to the ring for our main event. He gets on the microphone and says that he isn’t going to take up too much time but he wanted to be sure to address what we just saw. “Personally, I liked it. For years, Triple H has hidden behind that ridiculous suit and tried to play politics with me. I’m glad he’s finally able to admit that he doesn’t like me. That’s what I want. I’ll say it again; I don’t want the COO of this company. I don’t want Hunter. At SummerSlam, I want the “Game.” I want the 13 time World Champion. And at SummerSlam, I’m gonna beat his ass.” CM PUNK AND DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. KANE AND SHEAMUS; As announced by Trish Stratus on Raw, Dolph Ziggler gets an Intercontinental Title shot at SummerSlam against Sheamus. The fans come to their feet as CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler are officially announced as the winners. The Authority is unable to gain momentum on two of their biggest threats come SummerSlam.
