Smackdown recently took a huge dip in viewership:
3/28/2014____________4/4/2014______________4/18/2014_________________4 /25/2014____________________5/2/2014 3,057,000____________2,710,000_____________2,757,000_________________2,670,000_____________________2,271,000 Down 400,000 viewers over a couple of weeks - down 800,000 viewers over the course of the month following Wrestlemania.
I'm thinking about it - Since the WWE Network has had so much content, I feel a bit overwhelmed.... with Raw Pre/Post shows, all the Wrestlemania extra stuff, Warrior Week, Clash of the Champions replays, NXT, Legends House, Extreme Rules, various Legends Roundtable stuff, all the Countdowns, Beyond The Ring, Tuesday (& Wednesday replay) of Main Event.....
I now have to pick some things to skip (there are only so many hours I can devote to watching wrestling) - and Smackdown generally just doesn't make the cut!
My friend was at the 4/25 Smackdown show live in Hershey, PA, and was very disappointed with the show.... just a general lack of star power (No Authority, No Cena, No Batista, No Evolution, No Daniel Bryan, No Kane, & they had hung a steel cage there, but didn't even use it for a dark match or anything).
Seems like WWE hasn't been putting much effort into Smackdown (this is nothing new) and now the viewers have so much other content to watch - it's become a show that is expendable....
OR, is it just better time management to watch the Smackdown wrap-up show on the WWE Network after it's aired?
Anyone else agree?

I haven't watched SD in months at this point. But I'm enjoying WWE's current product enough lately that I did set the coming episode to record. As to if I'll watch beyond that episode time will tell.
Btw, your sig is really cool.

I miss Smackdown being a vital part of WWE television.

I'll confess, I haven't seen Smackdown in months. If there's something I really want to see from it I'll check out the highlights online, but for the most part it just seems to repeat the stuff from Raw or never really progress things too much. I think with Raw being 3 hours, it kinda takes away the need for Smackdown to progress story. It's still a bonus, and i'm glad it's there but it doesn't have the same effect on me Raw does, that may also be due to the fact it's pre-recorded.

I don't even watch SmackDown anymore. That's what WWE gets for having a prerecorded show

SmackDown's lost pretty much all appeal to me without the brand split. It's virtually a replay of Raw with a few filler matches flung in.

I can't even tell you the last time I watched Smackdown. Not since Ziggler won the WHC I don't think. I get everything I need out of Raw and spend the rest of my time on the Network if I'm going to watch wrestling. I'd rather watch an hour of NXT over 2 hours of Raw recaps or rematches.

Smackdown is hardly even a B-Show anymore. It's completely throwaway television. If anything even remotely important ever occurs, it's recapped on Raw.
Simply put, you can avoid Smackdown entirely (not even bothering to check results), and still be completely in-the-know in regards to all of WWE's important storylines. So, no, it's not must-see. It's hardly even supplemental at this point.

There's too much to keep up with, it really is overwhelming. And when Smackdown is just pre-taped filler matches, the network will probably eventually kill it completely.

The only reason I haven't seen Smackdown the past few weeks is because Kitchen Nightmares airs on the same night.

You could argue that some episodes of RAW are no longer must see TV. The majority of last night's was that for me.
The true end of the brand split was the death of Smackdown being must see or interesting.
Main Event is more exciting to me and half the time.

Smackdown had a serious 3-5 month stretch there where every single week the card was awesome. Cesaro vs Orton, Ryback vs Sheamus , some very overlooked matches and so many epic 6 man tags.
Now it's back to being suck again. What gives ?

I think its been years since SD has been must see TV. When I say years, I mean about 10 years. I DVR the show & usually am done with it in under an hour. I've been saying this for years, the only way SD gets better ratings is if they are live. The spoilers make it so easy to skip the show.

It's been nothing but filler for years since switching to Friday nights and moving to the SyFy network.
If someone like me can go YEARS without watching the show and miss absolutely nothing of value then there's a serious issue.

Last time I watched Smackdown Taker was still working full time. The show has been a Raw recap for a few years now.
