I think some of you genuinely disliked the figure, but a bunch of you definitely jumped on the complaining bandwagon.

People need to quit their bitching. Now that we know the afro is removable, if you don't like it just take it off and throw it away or in a drawer someplace and forget about it. Then you've just got a carbon copy of the Exclusive which everyone loved.

They decided they wanted to do their best 2009 Jakks impression.

Then you've just got a carbon copy of the Exclusive which everyone loved. But the point of the figure is that it's two figures. And from the picture, they've failed. Mattel said the final product will look different (the afro anyway) so we'll wait and see on that. But with the afro changed, the attire without the singlet is still wrong.

They had plenty of time, they pretty much said that they wanted to release it again, but I assumed it would at least have a blue singlet...possibly painted on. The gutter trash that they are releasing would probably have been the last thing I would have ever expected to see. To be fair all they really needed was a new head and they could have released two of the exact same figure with different paintjobs and heads, Nash/Diesel style, and this likely would have been one of Mattel's greatest triumphs. Even if they just released the same figure with a blue singlet and sculpted sideburns it might have been good enough, but the only way to have made this 2 in one idea work would be with a swappable head and boots to match whatever color the trunks are.

They did but they prob assumed ppl missed him and would try to accommodate them as well as the ppl who already have him. I really just wanted an Andre in his blue molded singlet with sideburns. I'm leaning towards canceling my preorder only cuz I don't need another. That's the one I wanted too - the Colossal Connection Andre (to eventually go with a Haku)

I don't understand why people don't just remove the Afro and keep the singlet on. That's what I'll be doing.

Needs sideburns. Then I'd be happy.

Don't forget that the exclusive figure came with the Winged Eagle belt. Mattel simply removed the belt and replaced it with the wig. Those who missed out on that exclusive, this figure wld be perfect. Get the figure, remove the wig, then go and get the Winged Eagle belt if you don't already have it from the past figures Mattel have released. And there you have it, a perfect Andre figure. The figure is nothing to be fussed about. Its not even the worse figure all because of the wig. I've seen worse. And that award goes to the most recent AJ Lee figure.

Now, why they chose to mash 2 figures into one instead of just re releasing legends Andre, making an additional accurate Andre with Afro and mixing them into every other case like they did with Nash/Diesel, blows my mind. They really dropped the ball on this one and I hope whoever gave the ok gets fired lol. Because the Nash/Diesel experiment was not a success. They dropped the ball when they did that, and MDT has said that they would never make that mistake again. Have no fear everyone, Andre did wear black boots with blue trunks and that fro once... Gold Medal Andre! There we go. Now people can stop complaining that it's not "accurate attire."

Yeah I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing with this 2 in 1 thing. I know a lot of people are pissed that his colors aren't right for this in that.... In the exact same figure you can have WM 3 Andre or afro Andre with blue trunks. That's sa win if you ask me.Now I'm not going to buy it. But to compare this to Flair and the complaints about his colors, sh*t it's Ric Flair! And this is two Andre's in the same figure!
What's the big deal?
It would look ridiculous if his boots were another color. To get the Legends style Andre he needed the cloth black singlet and black boots. Now this time he has blue trunks and comes with a afro!
Seriously, what is the problem?

Let's be honest, they won't stop. I know... But at least now there's a picture to quote when they do it.

Jakks killed it on their attempt at an Afro era Andre Mattel should be embarrassed in comparison with this figure. I'm a bigger Mattel fan for the record, but they have really stunk the joint out on this one! 100 % agreed

My guess is that Wrestlemania 3 Andre is the main one they wanted to release, and it was already completed. I'm probably going to change the boots to blue and swap out the head for Jakks' afro Andre to make an LJN style fix-up. This is the exact version of Andre I wanted to see in E29, right down the wild-eyed facial expression:

I think all these Mattel Andres are still not accurate - his boots weren't the regular sized boots that they give him, they should have sculpted bigger feet. Likewise his hands were bigger than everyones, yet they give him regular big hands.
Andre is that sort of icon in wrestling that deserves new tooling and new sculpt body parts. The ball was dropped a long time ago.
