Anyone think that Mattel simply rushed this E29 figure through the pipeline when they realized his deal was set to come up and they simply didn't have time to sculpt a new head scan? Andre is strong enough of a character to warrant a better figure than this rerelease with any ugly wig, so there has to be some reason for this right?

They are most likely trying to kill two birds with one stone. I'll wait till we see the final product before I judge.

They did but they prob assumed ppl missed him and would try to accommodate them as well as the ppl who already have him.
I really just wanted an Andre in his blue molded singlet with sideburns. I'm leaning towards canceling my preorder only cuz I don't need another.

Here's the obvious reason for this figure happening the way it did.
Most people didn't buy the exclusive.
Most people want the iconic Andre look.
Those however that did buy the exclusive, wanted a different look for obvious reasons.
Now, why they chose to mash 2 figures into one instead of just re releasing legends Andre, making an additional accurate Andre with Afro and mixing them into every other case like they did with Nash/Diesel, blows my mind. They really dropped the ball on this one and I hope whoever gave the ok gets fired lol.

They probly had enough time but 90% of the general public never purchased that legends Andre figure so they probly figured this is good enough for most people ..I mean most collectors who have it (like me and most people here) want something different but the people who don't have Andre at all will probly eat this up

I think they should of done 2 Andre's like they did with Nash/Diesel in E16. those are two different characters though like big show / giant and not just 2 different ring attires for the same character. honestly mattel had the right idea with including removable accessories to please some fans without losing money on shelf warming andre figures. the obvious problem is the execution of the accessories is disappointing to the collectors that wanted a different looking andre and instead got a repackaged figure with a horrible accessory. i think if they started popping out more doubles in the lineup it would involve people will different characters (flashback kane / corporate kane) or more wrestlers with interesting ring gear like Warrior or RVD. (still don't see that happening lol) |

Either mold it on or don't have it at all. Having it removable is stupid. Is it going to fall off when playing? Probably. And when you take the singlet off and keep the afro on, the attire isn't going to be right. The scan is not right for the trunks Andre time period (and the afro is not correct either). So yeah, it's terrible for what they want it to be. |

Jakks killed it on their attempt at an Afro era Andre  Mattel should be embarrassed in comparison with this figure. I'm a bigger Mattel fan for the record, but they have really stunk the joint out on this one! |

Not enough time? Yea, 2010 - 2014 just flew by..... Another Andre clearly wasn't in the pipeline until very recently when they realized his deal was running out. I'm asking if they didn't have enough time before said contract ran out and just threw this thing together. |

The fact is that its a repeat of the legends andre with accessories and blue pants. Your options are to display another exact same andre or display an innacurate one with blue trunks and black boots?? The fro andre had red boots.
this seems to be a growing trend ever since the 5year contract was signed. We are paying attention to these things mattel.....
Would have been better to do the boots red, have the afro fully attatched and no singlet. Remaking figures that were supposed to be mc exclusives isnt good business either, doesn't give the buyer much customer satisfaction when you bring out a figure they already forked out for.

that whole "release 2 of the same guy in 2 different attires in 2 FB spots" why waste 40$ to get 2 of the same guy (with Nash/Diesel, Nash had the NWO world title, they both had different sculpts, was different eras)
here: both would the be same sculpt (with presumed afro), accessories
so again, what's so bad about this figure; you could give the afro to a bald figure like the RSC SES CM Punk or Goldust and Andre would be fine and dandy without it
