Thanks man, appreciated. I basically don't know anything other than "eat less and exercise more." I don't really know any of the big sciency words people use regarding health. I'm officially cutting soda out tomorrow (I have a Pepsi in the fridge and my mom will kill me if I waste it), and I'm gonna try and do a lot of running this summer. I'd go to the gym but I have no way of getting there, so I'll start that when I get my drivers license in a few months. Other than running this summer I'll do some kettle bell exercises. Regarding food, I kinda just have to eat what my parents cook, but I'll try and nudge them to make healthier meals. You will be AMAZED how much better you feel without soda. Basically the only soda I plan on drinking from now on is one bottled root beer a week, but not while I'm cutting the fat. For now all I'm gonna be drinking is water and sometimes milk.

I've lost 65lbs since September of last year. I call it the Vanilla Coke and GTA V diet because......well that's literally all I was doing for 3 months and that's when I started losing the weight. I'm gonna go ahead and say that its due to turning 18 and my body still adjusting but I'd like to think it was the Vanilla Coke and GTA thing. Besides it makes people think wtf every time I tell them.

Haha I used to be severely underweight but as I reached 28 or so my metabolism got lower and it's not been easy to maintain my current weight Happy to say I am at an acceptable weight now and have cut down on sugar especially but I still fear weight gain in the near future.

Pretty sure I lost about 3 pounds in sweat today. Ever work cattle? Ever try and wrestle them to the ground so you can give them a shot then the other guy cuts the balls off the cow? Jesus I'm tired. Had to wrestle over twenty cattle to the ground, while my buddy pulled its tail to the side to help knock it over. I lost weight in sweat and I got paid in thank you's. And I literally smell like shit.. LITERALLY.
Anybody that wants to lose weight, go do this.

Used to be 250 a couple months ago, about 235 now. Only thing I really did was Drink Water instead of Soda or Iced Tea and Walk about 20-60 minutes a week. Nothing too extreme. However different things work for different people.

How can we have a fun, fair, healthy, and most importantly safe! competition where we compete to lose weight? Who wants to get the ball rolling on this? I'm talking leader boards/progress boards, photos, and for fun, prizes awarded ... somehow (though not sweating while brushing your teeth should be a nice reward). This should be handled right and I can't stress about being safe. There are so many ways we can handle this: total lbs lost, total percentage lost, etc. No mockery, just support, and egos left at the door. Seriously, someone start this ... or else I will die Drink water. I can not stress that enough when dieting.. If you drank 5-6 glasses of water a day, you would drop weight off of doing that ALONE. Now imagine you lose 20lbs without doing anything but drinking water, not drinking sodas? Imagine if you exercised 3-4 times a week while you continue to drink water.. I'm telling you man, you could drop 50 or 65 pounds before the end of the year with minimal effort, and you wouldn't need a competition to do it. I assume you're young? If you are, you wanna nip this in the butt now.. Don't wait until you're older.

One question I have... How do you guys effectively cure or prevent cravings for food in the middle of the night? if will power doesn't work.... adding a lemon to water can be quite a good thing to stop appetite (at least for me) it may sound crazy, but lemon in the water fills me up and I crave food less all times of the day

Support is good. I like this idea. Even if we don't have a 'contest' we can/should at least have a support thread for health and fitness. I don't want to go into too much detail or get too mopey, but basically I'm kinda battling binge eating disorder right now (have been doing so off and on since 2012), but it has gotten out of hand recently. Really out of hand. I was 232.0 last Friday, and I was 236.5 yesterday. My lowest adult weight was 205.5 in July 2012. This weight basically floated around 220 since January 2013. I dipped down to 209 for like, a week in early April because I was able to actually get into a caloric deficit for two weeks. I consider myself very knowledgeable on fitness and nutrition.. but I need to practice what I preach. It's really starting to hit my self confidence. I'm overweight and overfat. I am. I'm not in the shape I want to be. I look like I don't even lift. I'm not that strong (after about 2 years of shoddily programmed lifting I am at the lower end of intermediate), and my upper body is smaller in proportion to my former fatty legs (doing SL 5x5 and squatting 3 times a week from January to May didn't help that, either, but I drank the R/Fitness Kool Aid of 'don't make your own program you ing noob and go do SS or SL'). I'm doing a perhaps more traditional 4-per-week homemade 'bro split' program to accommodate my lack of equipment at home. I've developed a much more 'flexible' dieting approach (also perhaps known as IIFYM), and found that I feel much better when I'm not 100% obsessed with "clean" eating. I no longer consider myself paleo, but my base diet is still 'whole foods' with a lot of meat, eggs, and vegetables. Higher carbs than I used to eat, too (going low carb often lead to binging). Example of flexible dieting: instead of eating a slice of pizza and saying 'hey I better eat as much pizza as I can because I won't be able to eat it for a while' and then end up eating two entire large pizza place pizzas on one night (yes, it happened, at a free pizza party at school last December), I will allow myself to eating these foods in a regular fashion. Planning to eat 3 slices of pizza or something is a lot better than telling myself I won't eat any of such a "dirty" food and then binging. So, yeah, that was longer than I wanted it to be. But I'm in. Do what I do. To stop binge eating and eating big portions when you have cravings, just drink a lot water before a meal or whenever you feel like eating as it will bloat you out and you won't want to what. That's what I do and it works like a charm for me. Diet drinks are also gassy so they bloat me out as well. (:

One of which is a shake before bed. The reality is if you want to lose weight the healthy way while preserving muscle, you need to eat more. Not less. It's about eating the right portions of the right things at the right time. Cutting back on how frequently you are eating will actually slow your progress down and force your body to store more fat for longer periods of time.

Well I'm currently doing things for my school in order to get the credit. First day I had to carry four text books to the library. Then for an hour, I had to unstack, check the bar codes, apply said bar code to the text books that don't have one, and then stack them up again. Did I mention I had to do that for 60 big text books in total? Anyways my traps and biceps are currently screaming, and I have to do that for a whole week. I really don't mind considering I'm getting a work out. I'll probably try and do my 2nd week of push ups/ sit ups/ planks, but it's gonna be hell for sure.

My wife and I were looking at the budget and seeing how much money I spend on soft drinks and now it is a two-fold mission.

I've tried three or four times and the longest I lasted was a week. I'm trying to use lightly sweetened tea this time around to curb my cravings, and only drink water ay work, but I seriously just started yesterday. My wife and I were looking at the budget and seeing how much money I spend on soft drinks and now it is a two-fold mission. Start carrying a gallon of water with you and make it a goal to drink it by the end of the day. Flavor your water with the single serving crystal light packs but only use half of a serving per 16 oz of water. I use crystal light or any sugar free drink mixes.
