Jakks' Classic Superstars Tag Team Series 1 Legion of Doom is the best representation of the Road Warriors EVER CREATED in action figure form. I am really looking forward to my pre-ordered Elite 30 Animal and Hawk from Mattel, but sitting here looking at my Classic Superstars Tag Team set, I can almoct, without a doubt, guarantee that Mattel's won't even begin to compare. What do you guys think? Agree or disagree? Just want to mention that anyone who disagrees is in for a Doomsday Device! lol

Really?! Which are we talking about here? Elite 30 or Legends 1? I had Legends 1 and was never more let down by a LOD set. The paint on Animal's face was horrible (every one I've seen has some really sloppy hair paint) and the body style was all wrong for him. He was a huge, burly guy and was NEVER that thin or that ripped. Animal always looked more like the power lifters you see on late night ESPN 2, not the professional bodubuilders. I will admit that the Elite 30 body fits Animal better, but from the pics I have seen, the headsculpt still looks "off" Those are mostly prototypes though, so I will reserve final judgement til I have him in hand. Now, as far as Hawk, he was never as thin as the Legends 1 figure either. I also think that Jakks did a better job with his headsculpt as well with the open mouth and tongue sticking out. The Legends 1 sculpt looked more like the sad alcoholic Hawk that the WWE exploited toward the end of his life. Hawk was always so animated... I think his figure should reperesent that, and Jakks did a better job. Granted, I do like the shoulder pads and wrist gauntlets Mattel includes a lot, but as far as the physical look of the torsos and the headsculpts, I still think Jakks is ahead on points. Maybe once my Elite 30 figures show up my mind will change, but it will really take some doing on Mattel's part. Now... about that Doomsday Device I promised... I see I am totally outnumbered here (and I would need a tag team partner to pull it off anyway), so I take it back and will be cowering here in the corner doing my best Ric Flair impression... begging for my life with my hands thrown up in surrender, head shaking violently... if anyone needs me.

Mattel's seem odd to me. Hawk looks alright but the newest Elite Animal looks too big for his shoulder pads. I'll stick with my CSTT everyday of the week.

Yes, I just don't like hos "thin" and "ripped" Mattel made BOTH of them. Look at any pics of the LOD and you can see that neither of them was built the way Mattel has them look. The new Elite 30 Animal gets the accuracy a little closer, but something still doesn't look right about them. Am I wrong? At least the Jakks versions look big, bulky, and all around closer to the actual wrestlers... Animal especially. Hawk's torso is a little thinner and more muscular than Animal, but nothing like the pro bodybuilder torso that Mattel uses.

So you are ok with Jakks using mostly the same torso on every figure and the stupid balloon arms? HAHAH.

I can agree that Jakk's arms were pretty bad, but Mattel has had their fair share of mistakes as well. Look at some of those HUGE ball joint shoulders! I have a basic Austin figure with jeans on that are huge, baggy Rey Mysterio pants! lol I also understand that Jakks used a lot of the same torsos... so does Mattel... but when these two superstars are concerned, I think Jakks got a little closer to the bullseye with their LOD. Again, just my opinion, and like they say, "An opinion is like a fart... Everyone's stinks but your own."

Even if Jakks size of torso seems more accurate, the sculpting of the torso is poor. Jakks ruthless figures could have been truly amazing and stood up a lot better if the molds had been sculpted by a person who knew anatomy. The first John Cena torso always irks me with all the made up crap going on around his neck and traps, and the little oval abs look like a child's drawing.
I don't mind the extensive parts reuse or the stylized size of the figures, Masters of the Universe Classics are a wonderful example of that idea done right. It's the poor bodies which contrast strangely against the heads. If you track the trajectory of Jakks you really see promise from Bone Crunchers to Titan Tron Live to R3 Tech, but then steps taken backwards with Ruthless and then even more taken with Deluxe Aggression. If deluxe bodies had been sculpted like the Maximum molds, Deluxe would be a great style, or if they had pulled some of the lighter weight bodies from the UFC line for variety. Instead, if its not the fatter molds or the Orton/Cena/etc mold they brought in later or Batista's later mold, it looks like crap. And even those good torsos had poor arms. Can't complain about the legs, I suppose.
Anyway, I get what you're saying about Mattel's molds not looking right. Sometimes that happens. Whether it's Ziggler and Cody Rhodes having arms bigger than the Rock or thin, toned Ryback, they make mistakes also.
Also, Jakks CSTT LOD are still nice figures despite poor anatomy.

But Mattel has accurate boots and and forarm pads, so that instantly makes their version superior.

What a great conversation! I will have to say each has their ups and downs but for me, I am just glad to see the Red LOD hitting shelves again! It takes me back to my childhood and I have had every version of them including the hasbro and jakks BCA ones. I may lean towards the mattel version more because I like Mattel figures better overall as far as articulation is concerned, coupled with the gauntlets and boots that are superior. That new Hawk head by Mattel is pretty sweet and I am glad we got straight face as jakks nailed the iconic "tongue out" look!

I want to see photos in this thread for comparison. The words "Jakks" & "better" seldom go in the same sentence.

The one that doesn't make them the same size as Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio.
