Zombie is trash and ruined the Halloween series. Yes the series needed a reboot but zombie inserted his white trash crap, constant swearing, little character development, and pointless deaths and gore into a series that was known for none of that. The farther he is away from this series the better. His second Halloween movie was one of the worst movies I ha e ever seen. After rewartching the entire series (Blu Ray box set, a glorious thing) I can say that no, Zombie didn't ruin Halloween. Halloween 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 are all bad. Seriously. 5, 6 and 8 are terrible. The first two are brilliant to this day, some of the best of their kind. But the franchise fell apart after that with no real direction. "New angle! No Michael! Different story every time!" *movie bombs* "Bring back Michael! To hell with artistic integrity!" Rob Zombie's H2 is one of the biggest pieces of sh*t I've ever seen, and his original is alright at best, but yea, Halloween as a franchise sucked before he came on. And this is coming from a big fan. I'll be the first to agree that the series needed a reboot bad before Zombie come aboard. The original Halloween and Halloween 2 are great, while I also enjoyed Halloween 4 and H20 as well. The rest of the sequels were pretty bad. However, they all tried to stick somewhat close to the Halloween formula and didn't try to make any drastic changes. Zombie took everything that fans loved about the Halloween series and threw it out the window and replaced it all with his clichéd and crappy trademarks. At least before he took over the series studios saw it was still a profitable brand and were making movies. Since making his terrible 2 movies, the series has been all but dead and still doesn't look like any studios want to make another Halloween anytime soon. Halloween Resurrection was bad but I can honestly say I enjoyed it more than either of the Zombie films. I honestly think the series will sit dead for a long time. Zombie's H2 left a very bad taste in fans and studios mouths, and it was somehow able to make the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th reboots look like masterpieces. The series needs another reboot, but with the Zombie movies still pretty recent studios will likely wait for the anticipation and demand to grow again. Hopefully the next time they do make a movie it is given to someone who is a fan of the series and has a fresh ideas that will work within the Halloween formula.

2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre Dawn Of The Dead When a Stranger Calls Nightmare On Elm Street The Hills Have Eyes 1 & 2 House On Haunted Hill(aside from some dodgy CGI) The best horror remakes IMO. Remove NOES and Hills have Eyes 2 and this is my list as well. I love Dawn of the Dead 2004 and the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a fun movie as well. I love watching "evil" Phil Dunphy and R. Lee Emry in these films.

"The reboot sucked, it needs another reboot." Am I the only one who is okay with letting Halloween go? We've had 10 movies across two different universes (original and Zombie, you can even argue for 3 universes seeing as though 4, 5 and 6 are basically made non-canon in H20) and the strong majority of those 10 movies suck. I learned the other day that Michael, aside from maybe 3 or 4 movies, has never been a major box office draw. So not only do most of them suck, but there's not even an upside to point to as far as business is concerned. A series like SAW can be made for very little and do good to great business every year, and it's backbone has always been "let's gross them out!" instead of "we have a character we need to stay true to and build their story throughout the franchise." Let Halloween die. It's dead. I think it's okay for things to end.

Terrible CGI; poor casting. Poor pacing. It's got a 'too many hands in the cookie jar' feel, in my opinion. I'm going to admit -- I preferred Haley's Freddy to Englund's. Yes, I said it. I LOVED his portrayal -- for the bit of screen time he actually gets. Freddy is the most charismatic out of all these monsters -- you can't just yank his screen time away, like that. They used parlor tricks in place of Freddy, and it just didn't work. It also left a bad taste in my mouth because Rooney Mara trashed it, after it came out, when she was trying to get her Dragon Tattoo Oscar Nom...you just don't do that.

I thought the CG was pretty good when I saw it (but I've not seen it for a while so maybe I'm forgetting). That's fair enough though. It's possibly my fav of the NMOS films (the only one that I maybe prefer is the third).

I don't think Michael Myers have ever been a MAJOR box office draw, but they've all been profitable. That's why we'll always EVENTUALLY see Michael Myers back on the big screen. Personally, I would have preferred to see Michael Myers go the "direct to dvd" route after Resurrection. I know they had originally planned on going that direction with H20 until Jamie Lee came on board. But I think there would have been a lot of money to be made with Myers in the Direct to DVD market. The Hellraiser and Children of the Corn movies had a profitable staying power to them in that route. Myers is a bigger name than either of those. There would have been plenty of sequels and I'm sure some would have been anywhere from horrible to decent and at a very low budget.

I was trying to be generous regarding the box office results on a few of them to avoid "NU UH THE ZOMBIE REMAKE DID REALLY WELL." Y'om sain? I don't think I'd mind the straight to DVD thing, but I think the best move is to let it be over.

Honestly, I think Chucky is batting the most consistent, overall. Child's Play, Child's Play 2, Child's Play 3 are all good. Curse of Chucky, and Bride of Chucky are watchable. Seed of Chucky is God-awful. 5/6 being at least watchable is damn good. - 83.34% NoES 1, 3, 7 are good. FvJ, Remake are watchable. 2, 4, 5, 6 are pretty rough. 5/9 - 55.56% Ft13th 1,2,3,4,6,FvJ,Remake are good. 7 is watchable 5,8,9,X varying degrees of God awful. 8/12 -- 66% Halloween 1,2,H20 good 3, 8, H1 watchable 4, 5, 6, H2 varying degrees of bad 6/10 - 60% All #s based on my opinion of course. But -- my point is, every single franchise we're talking about here have their rough entries. Doesn't change that I love Michael probably more than any of them.

Scream is a pretty consistent series if that counts. I enjoyed them all (although 3 is definitely the worst).

I think Scream is batting 100% as far as at least being watchable. 3 is RESOUNDINGLY the worst in the series -- and it's still entertaining, if nothing else. However, my previous list was based solely on what I think people would consider the 'Slasher Mt. Rushmore' -- Michael, jason, Chucky, and Freddy. You have Leatherface, Pinhead, Ghostface, Jigsaw, Candyman, etc -- sure, but...if you say 'horror movie' to someone, I'd bet $100 that 9/10 people either think The Exorcist, Jaws, or one of those 4 characters... I'd recommend giving them at least one watch. Don't get me wrong, especially in Ft13th -- the ones that are bad, are HORRENDOUS. But -- you gotta watch them to truly appreciate the character's lasting power.

when i first heard Rob Zombie was remaking Halloween I Was Very Skeptical about it i personally wished they would have picked up after Halloween Resurrection i honestly thought they would have gone story wise more on the lines of Michael Going after Tommy Doyle but when i watched the first Remake i actually enjoyed it however the Remake of Halloween 2 i mean while i kinda liked it it just played to many mind games it felt way too psychological and not as much supernatural / slasher which to be honest is what Michael and Jayson and Freddy pretty much are i mean the whole scene at the end of Halloween 2 The Remake with Love Hurts playing in the background and it shows Laurie Strode was alive and in her room in a Mental Asylum not a Psych Hospital believe me i know the difference but she was in an all white room and it had four walls and no corners to where a hallway was possible yet we see her sitting there and her mom wearing a white gown and pulling a white horse to hear while the song is still playing and she is turning a corner from a hall inside laurie's Room and we see Laurie Strode Do that really Eerie Smile it just really creeped me out it felt like Rob was trying to mess with the viewers head , BTW Halloween 2 from 1981 is by far my favorite Horror Movie Ever

I wouldn't mind it. But Robs remakes suck. He changed it too much.
