Go on ebay, search for AAA Lucha Libre figures and see how expensive and hard they are to find. Yep, secondary market value = primary market value, right? Lol. That's a great marketing campaign -- "Hey guys, go and watch a bunch of videos so you know who the obscure guys are!" Again, these are figures I personally would buy. I just have enough perspective to understand that they are not anywhere near the level of a WWF star. But these threads are always the same old "hardcore collector niche fan thinks their wants are the wants of the average consumer" conundrum again lol.

I didn't mention this because I was never a Malenko fan, but when I was at RSF with @heroesandmartyrs I overheard some guy talking to Bill about Dean Malenko and Bill said he may have been working on one and to stay tuned. Hope this makes some of you happy.

Dean Malenko was amazing back in the days, his matches with Eddie, Jericho & Rey were great. I loved when Jericho mocked Makenko with the 1001 holds. Thanks a lot for the news and I'm so glad I created this thread. Glad Bill realizes the significance of the cruiser weight division and hope Mattel give us a couple of cruiser weights in elite form.

Outside of Juvi, Dragon, Malenko & Liger, I cant say Id want a Flashback space wasted on any other Cruiser. Once you give me Rey, Malenko, Guerrero, Jericho and eventually Syxx....You pretty much have all the relevant Cruisers in WCW. Everyone else was just filler.

All I know is there's a lonely flashback Mysterio and WCW versions of Eddie, Jericho and a Malenko will make it better. You hear that Bill? Dean Freakin Malenko. It would be so easy for Mattel to make all those you mentioned. Easy? yes. Likely? We'll see Those four were the heart of the Cruiserweight Division back in WCW. Will they ever be made? Probably not but I would do anything to have them. Side note: I'm surprised Mattel hasn't made Eddie figs like they have with Macho and Warrior. He's popular enough where he would sell really well.

I'm a big fan of Liger and would love to see a Mattel figure of him, but it's very obvious it's not going to happen in his current situation. In certain wrestling circles as well as in Japan he's considered a big star, but in the US there's no way he'd sell like he would in Japan.

If you show a kid who's never seen star wars a figure, let's just say darth vader, the kid would likely want the figure more then a figure of Greedo based off of the look alone. How do original toylines without licensing sell? By looking interesting. Colors and masks appeal to kids more then, say a big show figure. Big Shows and Mark Henry's warm because their look is terrible and there are tons of figures of him. Rey's don't warm as much, but they still do due to most of his more recent figures having bland attires (namely elite 21 and elite 15). I never saw E24 Rey warm around here. So let's just say you show a kid who doesn't watch wrestling A figure of cena or a figure of Jushin Liger The point I'm getting at here is that flashy costumes and bright colors, and generally cool looking figures appeal to kids a lot more then bland dudes in trunks, hence why the UFC line didn't do well. Granted, I still don't believe Liger would sell all that well, but I have confidence he would sell better then any Attitude Era midcarder or anybody pre 80s. The entire point is moot though because WWE could never get the rights to Liger. And FYI, the AAA Lucha figures are expensive and hard to find because they're not as mass produced as regular figs.

How do original toylines without licensing sell? Poorly, cheaply, or with great marketing campaigns. The market for wrestling toys isn't "kids who don't watch wrestling." It's kids who do watch wrestling.

I'd be all for a Jushin Liger figure. His entrance music is so cool. Wow I thought I was the only mark for ligers music.! That post just made my day. I've been bumping this since it was in one of the Japan import video games I had in the late 90s. Me and my buddy always sing this

The ultimate dragon is a great look and cool name to sell to kids. They look like ninjas and kids love ninjas. I was obsessed with ninjas growing up in the 80's. It's true that kids love the masked figures. I don't like them much myself. I would love an ultimo dragon, and I ordered E32 Rey, but I don't buy my son sin cara or any others like liger, etc

I had the pleasure of meeting him and actually sitting and talking with him ( His english is actually very good) and he is as nice a guy as you could ever meet. Me and the legend.

WCW had such amazing roster, but I think the International superstars they had get overlooked. Very impressive to think they had all these guys: Muta, Chono, Liger, Nagata, Mysterio, El Dandy, La Parka, Psycosis, Super Calo, Silver King, Ultimo Dragon, Hector Garza, Lord Steven Regal, Fit Finley, Dave Taylor, etc....
