This isn't the first time somebody has broken their neck on the Styles Clash, I think there has been two others. However, you really can't blame AJ for it. When he was on Talk is Jericho he explained how he always tells the opponent DO NOT TUCK YOUR NECK. Yoshi as well as the other guys who have been hurt all tucked their neck.

Jeez, that sucks. I can't blame Styles completely like you said, but he should really get a new finisher. 3 broken necks is just stupid.

This is never AJ's fault......i hate it because he doesnt deserve to lose such a unique move simply because people dont know how to take it but i fear that time may be coming.

To be fair, after learning the way of wrestling, i'm guessing that tucking your neck just becomes natural instinct
However, I don't think AJ deserves any backlash whatsoever or should change his finisher

No offense to anyone stating the contrary, but this is always 100% AJ's fault, and anyone who's ever had a lick of training would tell you the same thing.
If AJ has them lifted to where they should be, there's no danger or this happening. If one it too long (tall) to take the move safely, then AJ has no business performing the move.
Did Bison Smith ever break anyone's neck doing this move? Ahhh well you say Smith was a monster of a human being with monster strength to match... The little bible thumper needs to retire the move.

It's never 100% AJ's fault. The Styles Clash requires that whoever is taking the maneuver not keep their chin tucked, which AJ has zero physical control over. I understand that tucking your chin becomes second nature after wrestling for years, but AJ has performed the Clash countless times without the person that he was working injuring himself. This is only the fourth time ever that I have heard of someone getting hurt while taking the maneuver. |

Once again, as anyone who's been properly trained would tell you, if a move is dangerous enough then it shouldn't be done. I've seen the previous 3 f*ck ups, and every time it was because AJ either didn't have them properly set up, or he just wasn't strong enough to have them in position.
Look, it's not something wherein someone can have an opinion on the matter. If one is lifted and put in the proper position, then there's no danger of a neck being broke... lol it's not even an argument here.

If one is lifted and put into proper position, they still need to NOT tuck their chin in. Looking back at Yoshi's botch, as well as Roddy's, they had enough room to keep their head in place and take a proper front bump. I do agree that Styles should consider retiring the Clash. Not because he cannot perform the maneuver properly, but because some people just can't take it as they should.

Yes, they're not set up the same, but they are both front bumps that require whoever is performing the move to lift someone up. In this case, someone like Cesaro is certainly strong enough to lift his opponent, which is an argument that I don't agree with concerning AJ Styles, but that's not my point right now. Along with that, there's more than enough room with the Neutralizer for whoever is taking it to perform a proper face bump. It's much safer, but if someone tucks their chin in, they would still get hurt. If someone does not follow the directions provided to them when taking a maneuver, it doesn't matter how safe the other worker is. An accident will occur, and the Styles Clash only has one direction for whoever is taking it - don't tuck your chin. |

He's been doing this move for years without issue. This is completely the fault of guys tucking their chin when they're not supposed to.
