To keep ragging on Cena:
I was watching that Orton doc from a few years back; and they were interviewing Cena, and just something about the way he spoke, almost like he was Vince McMahon talking about a guy like Dolph Ziggler.... if that makes sense?
He was talking like he was in some higher authoritative position than Randy, almost completely ignoring that they LITERALLY rose up the ranks together.
It just rubbed me the wrong way.

Right away.
I thought it was interesting when he first came out. He would wear traditional wrestling gear. But then they had a Halloween episode of Smackdown wear John dressed up as Vanilla Ice. He was rapping, he was doing the hand gestures, it was ok for a Halloween episode. But I guess someone must have liked the shtick cause after that Halloween episode the Vanilla Ice gimmick is all Cena would do. He started wearing jean shorts and a sports jersey.
I immediately hated it. They took someone who I thought had some potential to be a good wrestler and turned it into a gimmick to appeal to Urban youths. So far this nightmare has been what has defined the wwe for the last 10 years so I have not watched since Cena won the title for the first time.

So far this nightmare has been what has defined the wwe for the last 10 years so I have not watched since Cena won the title for the first time. Hasn't watched Raw for ten years. Knows what Raw has been like for the last ten years. By that same token, I know how to do heart surgery, because I've never done heart surgery.

It's hard to use "flaws", because I've always felt he was just awkward in the ring... but I'll say I became annoyed with/sick of him at WrestleMania 21.
He beat Big Show at XX and I honestly couldn't have cared any less. Had his feuds with Carlito and Eddie, but never bothered me. It was him defeating JBL (which he had no place in doing so) that I began seeing where the future was heading. Although I fully believe the plans were for Batista to be the #1 guy and that just didn't work out that way.
10 years later and I still can't stand the sight of the guy on WWE programming.

I don't dislike him like the masses. I like some things he has to offer, but his underselling in feuds and being too "positive" kills the stories flat.
And I don't root for the opponent to win like I do when Manchester United are playing anyone, since wrestling is predetermined. If Cena wins, that's what the company wants. If he loses - that's what they want too. What's the point of rooting for Cena to lose? Even when he loses he still wins. For me it's more about the story, during the match or the buildup. If the match has a distinct story, or the feud is super hot - I'm in as a fan. I don't care if it's obvious Cena wins. Just want him to be on his A-game.

I havent watched pro wrestling in a number of years now. I have though caught clips here and there on youtube so I get the basic gist of whats going on.

2010/11. I was a fan in 2008 before I stopped watching and then came back to see he was exactly the same. Add that on to the fact he buried an entire stable and Wade Barrett and there you go.

2011 when he won the WWE Title from Rey the same night Rey had won it.

I have yet to be annoyed with or hate John Cena, and probably will never be annoyed with or hate him. John Cena has earned everything he's gotten in his career and deserves to be the number one dude in the company. Sure some of his jokes can be cheesy, but I won't beg for him to get off of TV like a lot of people do when he makes cheesy jokes. The only little thing that has bothered me about Cena is his hurricanrana. When he started doing it, it looked like he was powerbombing himself into the mat. The only good hurricanrana he pulled off was on Cesaro. But other than that little thing I am completely fine with the way John Cena is, which probably explains why he's one of my top 10 favorite's of all time.

Who knows? What Vince McMahon says in this video might be company policy.

When I first started watching wrestling in 2008, I rooted for all the heels for some reason. There were only two faces I liked: John Cena and The Undertaker. Also, Jeff Hardy to some extent.
When Cena returned at Survivor Series, I started rooting for all the faces and I became a Cena fan for life. I understand why one would dislike him, but to not even respect what he's accomplished or deny his abilities is ridiculous. Cena is one of the most reliable guys wrestling's ever seen because the company can put him in any spot they want without killing his credibility. People talk about him burying guys, but let's look at the opposite end of the spectrum. Punk and Bryan ended up in completely different places in their careers after feuding with Cena. That couldn't have happened with any other guy because the proof is in the pudding. Feuding with Cena makes you a made man if you end up on the winning end.
Cena is probably a backstage politician, but I don't think his personality on camera is a lie. Either he just plays that role really well or that's who he is. Remember how Punk mentioned in his podcast that when it came to creative decisions, he only saw Cena actually speak out against them (and Orton to some extent)? Cena is consistently blamed for being on top but it's obvious that WWE is very protective of him being in that spot because they lost the ability to make new stars a long time ago. I'm pretty sure Cena has mentioned more than a couple times that he wants to turn heel but it hasn't happened yet. The company is 100% aware of what they're doing and they're comfortable with it.
No matter how much the wrestling community wants me to despise Cena, I'm not going to. He's pretty much done it all and has proven to me he deserves the top spot. The only thing that bothers me is that his promos usually run together as the years go on, but I never tire of hearing him. He somehow can say the same thing over and over again and it still feels fresh.

I was losing interest in WWE as a whole for most of 2006 and from December 2006 until February 2008, I was completely tuned out. I watched none of it. I was working odd hours and didn't care enough to record it or follow it on the internet. By the time I started "hmm, wonder what WWE is up to".. that's when Benoit did what he did and made me disinterested in wrestling as a whole. So I was "tuned out" for most of Cena's rise to power. I've never seen the appeal in him, beyond the "Hogan appeal" of larger than life guy who sells merch. as a kid, I was never into Hogan either.

I started to hate him when he beat Jericho for the World Title after coming back from his injury. Jericho should of stayed with the title longer.

I actually remember immediately noticing his awkward style. But at first he was really ambitious and doing all types of diverse moves. It was when he started doing the the same moves night in and night out that I noticed his flaws

He is very awkward in the ring. He doesnt know how to properly sell, He doesnt know how to bump properly, He delivers moves awkwardly. One thing i CANT stand is that stupid ass "5 knuckle shuffle" he does. He seriously botches that move almost every time he does it to this day. Its clear Cena is not kept around for his wrestling skills. Hell, he cant even call a match without you clearly hearing him calling spots. He is basically a walking cash cow and "model" poster boy for WWE and nothing more.
