WWE is not happy that the company is signing so many indy guys, especially guys they hoped to have come to NXT. I guess the Steen thing pissed them off lol. Good for the company to get figures of non-WWE guys to sell. Sounds like more typical WWE monopoly crap that they didn't think other companies or wrestlers would market themselves. Hopefully they can push out a bunch of these stars before WWE puts their foot down. After to ROH tonight, I want the entire locker room. And a RSR with a full set of barricades and ROH signs. But WWE can't do anything about ROH's deal with the company. Or with the indy guys. If someone called them out on trying to monopolize things it will reflect badly on a publicly traded company. WWE cannot tell ROH or any indy workers to have figures made. Sure maybe some indy guys might get scared now but there is a depth out there of guys who have never been done can't stop them all.

I mean WWE blackballing stars with a figure deal from coming in on NXT/Developmental. I wonder id they signed Samoa Joe before he went to WWE?

Yep, WWE is upset at ROH being on national cable and the figure deal, especially them having a Steen figure way before WWE will. So they're putting ROH on a similar level as TNA where, unless you're a huge star like Joe, they probably won't sign you directly from either company. There has been a rumor going around all day that Gabe Sapolsky's WWN is close to signing some kind of deal with WWE. So Evolve and DGUSA are the best places to go if you want to get signed by WWE now.

Sorry, I just saw a post about this and tried finding protos of the ROH figures. Is it just the four heads released so far?
Also, is there a full list so far for the Legends line?
Thanks!

From stillrealtous -
WWE officials are upset over Ring of Honor and another Toy Company releasing a Kevin Steen action figure due to the fact that they’re heavily promoting Kevin Owens on WWE television at the moment. The figure obviously shares the same likeness with Kevin Owens due to the fact that they’re the same person.
This will reportedly cause WWE to become more aggressive when it comes to signing stars that they think have potential before they join a company like ROH or TNA who has a merchandising or cable deal. The company is also reportedly trying to get the word out to up and coming wrestlers that if they have aspirations of joining WWE then they shouldn’t sign with ROH or TNA because of these deals.
Some indie talents have signed 5 year deals with Figure Toy Company which means that company will have the right to market Kevin Steen merchandise for 5 years as WWE continues to push him.

The thing about selling Steen for 5 years is bullshit. Listen to the interviews with Chris the company rep. He said once the initial stock on Steen runs out its gone and thats it. He also made it clear many times they did not want to pursue doing guys who were in WWE.
Not sure if it's bs from the news sites or WWE but the info already out there proves that to be untrue

Not sure if it's bs from the news sites or WWE but the info already out there proves that to be untrue I read that too, and with that glaring inaccuracy combined with my general skepticism when it comes to dirt sheet reporting, I'm calling bs on the whole story. It doesn't take a psychic to figure that the wwe isn't happy about another company selling merch of a guy that they currently have under contract but I doubt it will lead them to offering merch deals to Indy guys that they simply might be interested in signing to performer contracts at some point in the future. They'd end up throwing away money in some cases. I also doubt talent would be interested in that. Even if the wwe merch deal exceeds the offer from the toy company, it eliminates the opportunity for them to have a product they can use to help promote themselves unless the wwe actually produces it which is unlikely as the report claims they'd only be offering the deals in an effort to block the other company.

And LOL at WWE getting mad at one of their guys being released due to a deal signed before he got to WWE. How many times did WWE still release a planned figure of someone even after they left? Quite a few.
WWE is being petty just like their issue with ProWrestlingTees its because they don't get a cut of the pie.

To be honest....I CAN'T STAND WWE. Why fans continue to put their money into the crappy shows WWE puts on is beyond me. I hope for the day either someone else buys WWE and makes it a better, up to date product....or they go out of business altogether. Maybe then we will get wrestling back. The fact that WWE is now trying to dictate to independent wrestlers (that they probably have no intention of signing) not to have figures or tees made if they ever plan on signing with WWE is insane. The Mchmahons have made hundreds of millions of dollars off the backs of their wrestlers. Vince is a billionaire. Why try to stop indy workers from making a little bit of money by having a few of their own figures made? It's sickening (if true). I guess like Colt Cabana, Vince wants "all the money". Why so grumpy Vince? This small toy company is making pro wrestling figures.....your company and Mattel make "sports entertainment" figures (it's two TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS! LOL) This toy company had briefly mentioned making figures from Evolve and PWG if I remember correctly.....now WWE is trying to "make some kind of deal" with Evolve.....so it doesn't surprise me if these rumors are true. I hope these indy workers have the balls that The Young Bucks did and sign on to have their figures made, and I hope WWE's threats to indy workers doesn't kill the line before it gets started.

Not sure if it's bs from the news sites or WWE but the info already out there proves that to be untrue 100% agree. I read the same dirt sheet blurb this morning and laughed because the marketing guy on the podcast clarified that the deal was with ROH and not the ROH talent, even though the ROH talent was heavily involved in the process. So essentially, this is seemingly the only shot at Kevin Steen they will have to make him because he was in production while under contract with ROH. The same will go for anyone who leaves ROH within the next year but has already been confirmed for a figure. The 5 year deal for someone like Joey Ryan or The Bucks, who turned down WWE, I can see. Cliff Compton is a dummy if he signed that deal because I really think he could end up as one of the NXT vets on tour since he was a former WWE employee and has kept in good standing with them. That 5 year deal makes sense for the ECW guys and Cornette too, since they likely weren't getting Mattel treatment anyway. The ROH stuff seems to be total fiction though imo. WWE seemingly has a pretty good relationship with ROH. I look for that to continue. They're going to have to keep getting talent from someplace and almost all of it passes through ROH, and we know they won't touch TNA stars, or at least haven't to this point. Sans Joe I guess but he's been the exception to a number of rules.

Remember the indy deal is arranged person to person so for all we know we could have 5 years for some guys, 3 years for others, etc.
Kevin Steen is coming out under the ROH banner as a star who was there when the company signed off on doing figures. The whole thing about WWE being afraid that figures of their talent would be made goes against any common legal sense. The rep even specified that a grey area like the Generico rights wouldnt be attempted because costume or not he's a WWE guy now.
I've noticed Joey Ryan, Matt Sydal, Pro Wrestling Tees and others tweeting that they are happy to have another company that helps the indy guys out. I hope many more names follow suit with them instead of being strong armed by WWE.

WWE is pissed at FTC over the Steen thing. However legally they have zero ground to stand on. Steen/Owens' figure contract was signed before he was under the WWE umbrella.
However they are only going to be making 1 Steen...and when they run out, they run out. There won't be any re-stocking or alternate attire, etc. Whatever they get, is it.
I could almost guarantee we will see some kind of Kevin Owens Mattel proto at SDCC...which is probably why WWE is pissed off because Mattel can't be happy either.
