Cubs game last night was about as up and down as it gets. It was enjoyable from an offensive standpoint but man has Lester sucked so far. This whole throwing to first deal is ridiculous. I think the mechanics of fielding are filling his head with stuff he shouldn't be worried about. He needs to focus on one batter at a time. Easier said than done I suppose. If he worries about throwing strikes then at least the reaction of throwing to first will be more instinctive.
Regardless, Soler was in absolute beast mode and Rizzo broke out of his mini slow start. Just awesome to see. This is the lineup without Kris Bryant too, at least through the end of the week I would guess since he's eligible after tomorrow (?) I think to come up from AAA. First place is first place though, even if it is 6 games in haha.

Washington will be fine. This lack of offense is troubling though. I was worried that adding only Escobar wouldn't improve the offense enough. Really wishing we had traded one of our starting pitchers for a shortstop that can get on base and actually defend.

It's harder to watch a talented team struggle than to watch a piss poor team suck. Like, Our 59-103 seasons were more enjoyable than this start. I have confidence that we will be fine though.

April baseball is pretty tough to watch in general. But I have no doubt the Nationals will end up on top of the division in short order and the Braves will fall back down to third where they belong.

I just told my wife that the 2010 Nats were more enjoyable than this crap. I can deal with taking a loss, but giving games away is driving me nuts.

listening to the radio...guys bring up a good point.
Why do rosters expand in SEPTEMBER? when April is a better time of year for that? You're coming off Spring Training, you wanna get off the gate fast and see what you have for the season. Let every team have extra players for the first month instead of the last. All it does at the end of the season is let playoff bound teams beat up on AAA squads and kind of creates an unfair playing field.
Personally I think rosters should be bigger by at least 3 players for every team anyway (2 pitcher/1 position) just to be able to give guys some better rest here and there and for those instances when a game goes long. But If anything having a bigger roster in April would be 100x better than wasting it at the end of a season

Bold prediction: The Seattle Mariners get things rolling pretty soon and finish with 95+ wins. They just have too much hitting power to not be serious contenders. I do expect their hitting to eventually outweigh their shaky bullpen... and get F-Rod out of there. The guy's a joke...

Didi Gregorious sucks
can't hit, completely botches EASY plays at short...plays that Jeter, right now sitting at home, could make with his eyes closed. i thought we signed that guy because he was a "defensive wizard" and would "be just as good as a 40 year old Jeter at the plate"

I dont see it. I dont believe Cruz keeps it up, past Hernandez its risky and Rodney is already imploding. Cano literally needs to carry them

Tazawa killed it tonight. And Xander with the nice walk off bloop base knock.

Happy Kris Bryant officially a full time member of the roster day The kid tore it up here when he was in AA. Sucks he went 0-3 but he's gonna launch plenty before his career is over.

Yeah, I'm not particularly worried about his first few plate appearances. He went 0-5 at AAA to start this year too. He's got jitters because he's living his dream for the very first time. His power is real and he's going to succeed, but he's still a 23 year old kid hitting cleanup in his first major league season.

It's still crazy to me to think that Bryce Harper is younger than Kris Bryant.

Kris Bryant is going to be an absolute star, I have no question in my mind. The 0-3 start he had can easily be chalked up to jitters or a bad day. Tough loss today either way.
