AT what age is it ok to take a baby to the theater?
I ask because it's been a while since I've been to the theater and when I finally do go again I'll have my little son with me. So im more or less wondering at what age will a baby sit through a movie in your experience?

Depends on what you're seeing. G rated movies are fine, but please don't take them if you're not confident the child is well behaved.

When they are old enough to sit through an entire movie without crying and disrupting the film.

Whats the point? He wont sit and watch it. He's going to cry and disrupt the other people. Dont be that guy that takes the baby to the movies.

You're going to pay a ton of movie for a movie you won't even see if you take a baby due to poop, pee, crying, etc.

This. Nothing more annoying than hearing someone's kid who won't stop crying during the film. Trying to go watch the new Spongebob movie was awful, and so was the movie. @bashcrashwiley My local theatre is only 5$ lol

Not until they can control themselves and even then I think they should only be in G-PG movies (I'm likely not to be affected).
If I was a parent I don't think I would bring them to the movies until they were like 6-8 and again only if they minded me because I would not take their sh*t lol..

I would say around 6 or 7, when they can be entertained for that amount of time and won't cause a ruckus in the theatre.
There is literally nothing worse than a kid at the movies who won't be quiet.

At a very young age, the loud theater could hurt his ears. When I was a baby, turned out that happened at Fantasia....

I took my 2 and 4 year old to watch Home and had no problems. The 2 year old went to sleep about 20 minutes in and the 4 year old sat through the whole with no problems. Just make sure to have plenty of popcorn and snacks.

I say 4-5. This is about the age that they can digest what they see and hear. Also, any age under that, can suffer from ear damage. Thats what our pediatrition always told us.

You're not their target audience. If you have a problem with that, you need to sit in the corner and think about what you've done. Out of curiosity, do you also complain about how nickels used to buy an entire meal and shake a rake angrily at any children walking on the sidewalk near you? Anyway, it's entirely a case-by-case basis. Every child develops differently. My son is almost 4 and can follow the plot of a movie perfectly, but he's also hyperactive, so I haven't brought him to the theater yet. I know people who brought their kids before they were 1 1/2 and had no problems. My son would've been throwing popcorn and making fart noises.

Being so that I work at a movie theatre, people usually bring there kids to the early morning movies. Because there is less people in the theatre and it's not prime time. Also, if your kid is gonna talk and make noise during the film than I'd wait until he/she is older to bring them.
also, make sure the movie is rated G or PG. don't be that guy who brings a 3 year old to a rated R movie.

Wait till he's old enough to sit and pay attention and not talk

So im more or less wondering at what age will a baby sit through a movie in your experience? Depends on what you plan on seeing and how old your son is. The MPAA rating system is something I dont really care to pay attention to. I remember as a kid going to see R Rated movies, no one really cared. Im not the kind of guy who would deny his son an awesome movie just because some old guy in Hollywood thinks it's not appropriate for others. My son is only 10 months old. My wife really wanted to go see a movie, I didnt want to just because I didnt want to deal with other people getting upset (rightfully so) if my lil guy started crying mid movie. Im at the point though where im thinking I might go, and HOPEFULLY the big screen and noise will be enough to keep the little guy entertained for the length of the film. But Im willing to get up and leave the theater if he starts crying. Im just curious to see everyone's thoughts on babys in the theater. Im the kind of guy that knows that babys all can Look, feel, understand, sense everything and everyone around them. I feel that a baby no matter how old is just like any other human being. The only difference is that the baby will forget what he/she saw or did.

i agree, willfully ignorant parents who bring along a screaming infant is rather distracting to a movie either you control your kids, or don't make kids; cause i don't wanna see nor hear a kid screaming his head off just cause he wants this or that
