The fact that I wasn't that affected by the whole event makes me feel like a bad person. I was only 12 years old at the time, but understood what had happened. Still, my frame of mind then is the same now. I can still watch Chris Benoit matches just fine without thinking "murderer," but I'm not one of those who tries to separate the human being from the professional wrestler. The person that we watched then, and sometimes still do, is the same person who threw away every single bit of worth that he had in his final days. This.

Does everyone still have his t-shirts, figures and dvd. I still have his figure on my shelf, but I put paper around his head so he can't see anyone. I never watched his dvd again, it just sits on my shelf. Well ummmmm...ok then.

I'll never forget turning RAW on, and seeing the tribute graphic flashing up and then Vince alone in the ring. I hadn't been on the internet or this forum at all that day, so I had no idea what had happened.

Such a weird sight seeing it like that, especially as I had only started watching wrestling at Mania 23. Fantastic wrestler. Awful human.

I was 14 and away on vacation. I had no internet access and little cell service so I couldn't get the full details right away until I saw everything on TV. He was never one of my favorite wrestlers tbh but I didn't hate him.

Yeah, who cares about the countless names saying how nice he was, we should only judge people on how they are with a mental disorder! Because that's fair and logical!

I remember thinking it was so weird that he had no-showed Night of Champions. Then the next few days were crazy. I wasn't on this forum at the time but I assume it got as nuts here as the forums I was on. People were saying stuff that was almost as insane as Benoit himself. Dark times.
But on the bright side, it did cause the company to start making things safer for other wrestlers.

The Chris Benoit who did all the nice things was Chris Benoit with his perfectly functioning brain, those were acts he chose to do with his brain. the Chris Benoit who killed his family wasn't Chris Benoit, you can be all literall and say 'yes it was..' Or something but it's the brain that matters and that was not Chris Benoits brain, that was not the brain of the guy he was for nearly all of his life. Im sorry, but blaming someone and calling them horrible for getting a mental disorder is a horrible thing to do, but, whatever.

Chris Benoit the wrestler, Chris Benoit with the shoddy brain, Chris Benoit the murderer. They're all the same, no matter how you word it and what spin you put on it.

No, he's a different person now than he was then. It's not a 'spin on words', it's a ing fact.

Just playing devil's advocate here. Clearly he loved his son. I've heard nothing but good things about him living Daniel. But his marriage was on the rocks. I believe there had even been word that he had gotten physical with Nancy before this. Hell, there were plenty of wrestlers that had come out and said he wasn't all there or had thought he was a bit crazy. Between the concussions, steroids, and deep depression he went into after Eddie died I don't think he had a chance. He should have seeked help before any of this happened.

I can guarantee you that not every expert will agree that the brain works in the same way, therefore leaving it down to opinion. Doesn't work the same way though does it? I ignored your previous comments on purpose as that was your opinion. When you, yes you personally, feel the need to express your opinion by replying to everyone who doesn't agree rather than just posting it once and moving on it starts making you look desperate. Now, if you have anything else to say on the matter I won't be bothering to read/reply, the thread has derailed enough as is and if you wish to continue that, by all means be my guest. I'm done.

I liked him but the fact is he murdered his family.

I actually liked him as U.S. Champ. I just can't even watch a match of his anymore without thinking of his actions. I was watching royal rumble 2005 recently and I just felt so awkward watching it.
Unfortunately I can't separate him from a wrestler from his actions. It really turned me away from him as a whole. Just completely awful and I really just dislike him because of it.

It sure was shocking when Kevin Sullivan killed Chris, Nancy and Daniel. It's this a joke or is this something people actually believe?

I would like to think Brick was joking (pretty sure he was) but yes there is some people out there who amazingly believe this over the police being 100% sure of Benoit's guilt.
