He needs to stay as Stardust. Having him randomly go back to being Cody Rhodes after he spent the last six months trying to convince everyone that Cody is dead would be dumb. Plus, random face turns out of pity because someone died never ever work.

After Legacy he got a chance as Cody Rhodes and always killed it. Dashing Cody Rhodes was highly entertaining and he completely lived and breathed the gimmick. Undashing Cody Rhodes was some of the finest heel work of that time. Fantastic character work, great on the stick and had some good matches. As the IC Champion he showed less character but was still damn good. After that was wasted, the dude moved into a team with Damien Sandow and grew a dumb mustache. What did he do? He got the mustache over. There were chants for it and even a shirt released with it. There he goes taking something lame and running with it. He was THE STAR of the 2013 Smackdown Money in the Bank match and had the crowd way into him. At the tail end of 2013, going against the Authority he was the most over face not named Daniel Bryan or John Cena. While I loved the moment with Goldust, they didn't need to stick him in a tag team because he red hot as a face. Cody makes everything work. Cody is fantastic, can work in the ring, is good on the mic, gets the crowd behind him and is able to work with whatever is given to him. I agree with all of this.

He's gonna get a pop when he returns....theres no point in keeping him heel OR keeping the Stardust gimmick although i LOVE that it is a Dusty tribute.

Cody is brilliant as Stardust, but they obviously don't think the character has any potential beyond a lower-card comedy gimmick. So ditch it.
Get Cody lots of mic time and I guarantee he'll get over as a babyface or heel. He's one of the most naturally charismatic talkers in the company.

if there's constant "Cody! Cody!" and "We want Cody!" chants WWE will probably be forced to bring him back....

Why do people want Cody back? Seriously he will never make the main event scene. He always gets thrown into random tagteam's because he simply has not got a personality when he tries to play himself.
Also just because Dusty died that doesn't mean that he should drop Stardust and get a huge sympathy push which would fall flat because that's wrong.
Another thing Cody likes the Stardust gimmick and it was him who originally came up with it so it he's happy enough playing it then let him go. I loathe this "Cody is bland" theory. Now I'm incredibly biased but I really couldn't have said it any better than that!

Now that they're hyping up Stardust so much, I see a no-show for Stardusts music then out comes Cody. Quote me.
