Really starting to get into NXT on the network. I feel like it's getting hot in an underground type way like ECW was for a bit. Almost like it is the in thing to do; watch it. Smaller crowd, smaller venue, character attraction and characters that get developed....
It feels a little bit like ECW did to me back in the day

Nah. While NXT is phenomenal, ECW was something entirely different.

No it doesn't feel like ECW to me. It feels like what it should NXT.

Yes. Yes, I totally get what you're saying. While the two are different, I can certainly see the same similarities you've noticed. Your keen observational skills are as astute as mine.

NXT is its own animal. ECW was all about blood and guts, being in your face and too bold to ignore. NXT is a collection of some of the most talented workers in the world coming together and putting on fantastic matches with great character development, under a company that was under fire for lacking in great matches and character development

Well I get what you're saying. At SDCC, Balor said NXT is no longer developmental but it's own brand. We've heard that NXT is a brand for a while now. But we haven't heard someone say it's NOT developmental. That tells me, WWE is telling the NXT talent that. It's the smaller, cooler option. You're not wrong.

Took the words out of my mouth! Now because of NXT WWE will have a deeper roster and have future stars. As long as creative doesn't give the wrestlers some stupid gimmick when they come up to the main roster.

ecw was ran by paul heyman. gabe sapolsky worked for paul heyman in ecw and went on to create ring of honor. it is easy to say that nxt is similar to ring of honor in terms of style, focus, and even a lot of their program structure. so it's fair to say there's similarities.
however, the overall product is vastly different.

Not an ECW feel, but definitely the best product WWE is putting out.

While there are some similarities, when I watch NXT I don't feel like I need a tetanus shot afterwards.

Not at all! No federation ever made me feel like it was ECW. ECW was one of a kind.
ECW used real music - songs you could download or buy in stores made by real artists - for their commercials, music videos, theme songs, etc. That is what really made ECW so good. So many times still to this day if I hear "November Rain" on the radio, I immediately think of all the November To Remember music videos leading up to that show/PPV.
NXT has matches. And sure, some of those matches are good, but he only common denominator in all this is that ECW did a lot of shows in the ECW Arena and had the same fans chanting each and every time. The same can be said for the NXT crowd.
Plus ECW had violence, sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll. ECW was more than just a wrestling promotion. It had some magic to it that will never be duplicated ever!

At one point not very long ago, yes it did.
But now idk what to think of it. It was my favorite brand and show on TV. Now I find myself hardly watching. We get like 2 divas matches , a tag match and a 10 min video promo usually showing older stuff. Something feels insanely flat on these weekly Wed shows. The character development and the sharing of air time seek by week has dropped completely. It feels like whoever used to produce NXT, isn't doing it anymore. Imo.

There's similarities sure, but overall the product is very different.

The product is entirely different, but the cult-like following of the fans is very, very similar. WWE has even created a false sense of competition between it and the main brand, which is just brilliant strategy.

I love how the NXT guys wrestle their asses off to try to make the main roster and to try to get over. It's a great element

NXT feels nothing like the original ECW. NXT is everything professional wrestling should be, but ECW was all about blood & violence. I enjoyed both, but their nowhere near similar.
