Um, yes. And I'm glad because he's annoying and far from entertaining.

I have always felt like they wanted Barrett to be a big deal but his rash of injuries and inability to get over in a sustained way have scuppered their confidence in him.
I have said it for ages......the muscle of the Authority needs to be revamped......and Barrett needs to be part of that revamp.

Barrett would have so much more credibility if he wasn't booked so weakly during every title reign. Remember when he lost to Sin Cara, cleanly? Crap like that can't happen. Then you throw on gimmick after gimmick and they all turn in to silliness. Barrett has it all. The look, the Mic skills, the awesome bullhammer finisher. He needs booking. Badly.

I feel that WWE wanted to push him to the moon. But his list of his injuries has put him in the same boat as Ziggler.

I think they want him to be big because he's always featured on TV, he keeps getting injured around the time things look to be getting better for him.

I would still argue that his Nexus run (up until their burial) was the best run he had.

He was not ready to win the WWE championship in 2010. He was still pretty damn green in a WWE ring.

Reigns' push pre-Mania was an absolute car crash. Fortunately, he's been given a second opportunity to turn that around. Something which Swagger never had the opportunity to do. By 2013, he was already a joke.

Absolutely, but that promo he cut on Monday gives me hope. He's definitely worthy of the WWE Championship.

I want to like Barrett. But he's yet to connect with the majority of the crowd. He's okay with everything he's done, just hasn't excelled at any of it either.
With only one World champion, I don't expect him to be the top dog anytime soon. But then again you have to remember this is pro wrestling. Barrett could get hot tomorrow and be on top within a few months. He could get the "JBL" treatment and be champion in no time.

Barrett has had one chance to really get over in his entire career and it was at Survivor Series 2010. They didn't let him win the title and his career has been cemented ever since. I think he caught momentum two other times, and he got hurt both times to stop that momentum. Now, I honestly don't want to even see him on my TV.
Miz wasn't ready to be champion when he won, neither was Sheamus, and yet here we are, both of them former WWE Champions. The Nexus was the hottest angle in years that had people buzzing. They had a chance to capitalize on that moment and they went with more Cena and Orton. So I do blame WWE, more than Wade Barrett not "being ready" as to why he's in the position he has now.
At this point, Barrett isn't ever going to be WWE Champion. That time has passed. He's not a guy WWE can trust with the IC Title, let alone the world title. If there was still a WHC, I do think Barrett would have that tile on his resume but with one title, and so many guys in line and coming up from NXT, it's not going to happen for him.

Barrett's problem was that the time he had the most momentum was during his first year on the roster, and he kinda sucked in-ring at the time. Miz in 2010 was so, so far ahead of him as an all-rounder.
In 2011, he was just really boring. The Corre, the feud with Orton, none of it was any good.
When he returned from injury in 2012, he was really good, and he was quite interesting for a while. But it didn't last. Same with Bad News Barrett. He's injury-prone and even when active, he and WWE have trouble sustaining his momentum. Take the current run. They ended the R-Truth feud already with a King Barrett win, but then decided to just continue it because Raw needed some filler.
Pretty much everyone who is in the midcard rematchrematchrematch cycle is a case of WWE dropping the ball with them.
Barrett in particular falls into that group with Sheamus, Del Rio, Kofi, Swagger etc. Johnny Ace boys who all had something missing (whether that's their own skillset or support from creative), and kinda got overtaken by the Triple H boys that have come up in the last few years.
In many ways, Barrett would have made a great WWE or World champion. But I can't see him getting near the unified belt.

I don't think they dropped the ball with Wade Barrett in 2010. I think they actually pushed him too soon. Being a rookie and having your first feud be against John Cena has proven over the years to be BAD for your career because you know you're not going over. You want rookie wrestlers and guys new to WWE to make a GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION.
However, I feel that WWE is dropping the ball with Wade Barrett NOW. He was doing great as Bad News Barrett. Why they turned him into Kind Barrett and have him getting embarrassed on every show by R-Truth is ridiculous to me.
Wade Barrett should be the one who is either IC Champ or getting IC Title matches, not Miz and Big Show.

Actually. Blame Barrett. Every time the WWE gets behind him he gets hurt.

I feel worse for Barrett, from a booking standpoint than I do for any other active superstar. He's been the victim of so many stop start pushes, it's been nearly impossible to connect with the crowd. His numerous injuries haven't helped either. Like many have said, he needs a serious revamp in the character direction department. I've always thought he'd make an excellent revival of the blue blood character. Give him a cabinet or something. Bring in Dave Taylor to mentor him and bring out the ruthless side. Give him a Jeeves character to kick around. And stick him in a feud where he dominates swagger and doesn't trade victories every other week on raw for 3 months straight. Then he can move on from there with momentum.

I've honestly never been a fan of his. I find him incredibly boring. The only times he's ever had my attention were..
1) As an 8 year old watching him dismantle Cena 2) As a 9 or 10 year old when he threw Orton down the stairwell. 3) Now when I'm pissed about him being IC champ.
