I am 18 years old and about to go to college in the fall. I just got back into collecting figures a couple of months ago and my collection has grown to about 18 figures now. However, I hide the fact that i like wrestling and collect figures to my friends. Going to college, I am worried people will not like (or make fun of) that i enjoy wwe (they wont find out i collect figures because they will stay at home). Can anyone give me advice to deal with my worries?

Tell them it's my hobby, my interest and if you're not down with that then you've got two words for them: Suck it!

Keep your collection at your parents' house and periodically add to it when you come across figures you like. Normally people don't have a lot of space in college to store or display.
I also recommend branching out and support your nearest independent wrestling promotion...if they deserve it. lol I started going to local shows when I was a Freshman 6 years ago and it was a blast.

There are enough real reasons to worry. Don't waste time worrying about whether or not to tell people you like wrestling.

I'm not going to lie and say that if people find out about your hobby that they won't make fun of it, because 9 times out of 10 it will happen. It happens to me and has most likely happened to a lot of members of this board. But, whatever people say don't let it ruin it for you. You have found a hobby and something you enjoy, which is a great thing and something you should cherish and be happy with. People who bully and tease others for liking something are low lifes, who probably don't want you to discover their collections that they have hidden away. Everybody has a guilty pleasure, so if it happens, don't let it get you down.

Eh, it. Do you. Why would anyone else's opinion matter? If it comes up, I like wrestling. No conversation goes towards figures anyway. They shouldn't view you any different, if they do.. why are you wasting your time on them?

I'm 30. I stopped caring a long time ago. My fiancee' is crazy hot. And she buys figures for me. So I won life. Nobody cares about my hobby now. Don't hide that stuff. Just embrace it and be confident about it and people won't care much. Your friends or roommates or whoever might give you a little ribbing, but they're dumb 18 year olds. They don't have any concept of the world outside their little bubble. Their opinions don't matter much.

I picked it up when I just about to turn 31, I'm 32 and I have over 275 figures. Doesn't matter your age or how many you have, so long as you're happy. Listen to the bands you want, watch the shows you want, who gives a flying fudge.

honestly dude, just be honest with yourself and the people around you, if people don't like that they're not meant to be around you, I do stand up comedy, have a girlfriend and I collect and I'm 19 it's really not a big deal, it can be embarrassing at times when you think about it and feel a little childish but life would be boring if you censored your hobbies based on other peoples opinions

Youre gonna be in college, there will be people will make fun of you no matter what you like, and there will be people with the same interests as you. Do what you enjoy man, like the Rock would say it doesnt matter what others think. Im 27 and have been collecting for years. Ive had girlfriends who were very supportive, and friends who were fellow collectors. ive also had friends who have poked fun from time to time, so i poke fun at them for something, we have a laugh, then move on to the next thing. No sense getting worried over what other people will think, if it makes you happy then go for it.

Don't be an insecure baby? I'm sorry but Jesus dude, have some confidence. Sorry for being harsh but I have never understood why someone would be ashamed of what they like.

Can anyone give me advice to deal with my worries? My advice to you would be not to worry about what other people think. This advice applies to life in general but is applicable to collecting. Worrying about what other people think elevates their status in your mind while lowering your own. It's like saying their opinion counts more than your own. Collecting is harmless and it helps you unwind. If someone ever did make fun of you for that then there would be something wrong with them.

Damn near killed me when she decided hof Eddie was hers lol.

Just tell them you like watching WWE, at 18 I doubt they will care too much. You may find a friend who also loves WWE.

Just do whatever makes you happy. I know it's easier said than done but don't worry about what other people think. There is no easy way to not care but when you stop caring or worrying about what they'll say it will be a load off of you. We can't help that we like collecting figures it's who we are. It's who you are and if they don't accept you for you, through time, I'm sure you'll meat plenty of good people who will.

Do what you what man, never let anyone put you down. If collecting makes you happy don't stop. It's a hobby. People who will make fun of you are insecure. I'm sure you'll be fine. Just remember your priorities in life when collecting. I'm telling you this sh*t is very addicting!

If you have to hide it, you should probably find a new hobby. Each their own. I don't give a crap if someone thinks it is stupid. I am happy with my life and I enjoy what I do.

Tell them a 26 year old dude who goes under the alias "smurf" on the internet said it's cool to collect figures.
