I am 18 years old and about to go to college in the fall. I just got back into collecting figures a couple of months ago and my collection has grown to about 18 figures now. However, I hide the fact that i like wrestling and collect figures to my friends. Going to college, I am worried people will not like (or make fun of) that i enjoy wwe (they wont find out i collect figures because they will stay at home). Can anyone give me advice to deal with my worries? my advice to you is to completely 100% be the real you if anybody doesn't like the real you that's their loss buddy I've been The real me since I was 7 years old its cost me a lot.. some friends some relationships but in the long run the people I have around me now know the real me so let me give you a piece of advice not just for wrestling toys but for the rest of your life be a hundred percent you don't ever fake it to make others happy because you can't please everybody but you can please the right ones

I'm 30. I stopped caring a long time ago. My fiancee' is crazy hot. And she buys figures for me. So I won life. Nobody cares about my hobby now. Don't hide that stuff. Just embrace it and be confident about it and people won't care much. Your friends or roommates or whoever might give you a little ribbing, but they're dumb 18 year olds. They don't have any concept of the world outside their little bubble. Their opinions don't matter much. Mine is exactly like yours.. But keeps some figures for herself lol. Mainly divas and ambrose. Damn near killed me when she decided hof Eddie was hers lol. Hey wait hu-what...lol

I know how akward it can be. If you're that nervous about what others say I would just keep them at your parents. However, don't hide the fact you watch wrestling because I can almost guarantee you one of your roommates watch it as well. It's much more watched than I thought.

The best advice would be to worry about your classes, not being made fun of. College is going to kick your butt.

Shouldn't be ashamed of it be who you are! Life's to short to worry what others think! Do what makes you happy you get 1 life! Do it how you want and be happy screw what haters think! This is coming from a young 22 year old collecter! And wrestling fan!

I've had countless people who I thought would make fun of my collection say it was epic. I don't hide them anymore.

Can anyone give me advice to deal with my worries? I'll give you an advise, I'm at my Sixth year of college and 22 years old. I have been collecting since child, and my friends know i like wrestling and collect figures, they don't care. Just be your self, if they are truly friends they will accept you. There are people at college that collect lots of stuff, college is not a place where you say oh wait i must left this because I'm entering the big world. No, that's wrong. Just don't let collecting get on your way at college. I recently bought sting at my local Toys R Us near college and i really don't care. My college room have a foam finger from Roman Reigns and two WWE funko pops. Just like i said be your self and do what you like.

By the age of 18... be yourself, if someone can't be adult enough to deal with your hobbies then they aren't worth dealing with.
I'm 33 and have a whole room dedicated to toys. Had to raise my home owners insure because of its worth...
Be proud you have something you enjoy that much. Too many adults think you have to "grow up". Be yourself, be responsible a d have fun at the same time.

I'm 29 years old, I have a career, I have a number of close friends and a girl friend who is hot as hell. Oh and everyone who knows me knows I collect action figures and even play with them. My mom has never cared, some of my friends collect some don't but respect my Hobby and my girl friend said "it's a part of who you are so I'm cool with it" it's all about presentation my friend. If you are a successful person who works hard and has a decent personality then no one should be giving you crap. Just be you and the rest will fall into place!!!

Be yourself. Don't hide anything. It'll weed out the fake people and bring you closer to the people that aren't.

Tell them it's my hobby, my interest and if you're not down with that then you've got two words for them: Suck it! DEFINITELY, I WOULD...

Not to mention, when I actually run expense numbers to people or show them how much these figures go for and if I decide to ever sell them...NO COMMENTS AFTER THAT...

I feel what you're saying. I had the same worry when I started again 18 months ago (when I was 25). Then one day I sat and realised, crap, one day I'm going to be put in a box and buried under the ground. Do I really want to waste time worrying about the opinions of other people?
Since then I learned to embrace it. I talk to my friends about it, show them what I've bought. It's great because sometimes it can feel like a bit of a lonely hobby but talking to my mates and girlfriend about it makes it seem less weird and more enjoyable at the same time
