Hi guys. I have been watching a lot of RF video shoots lately and they always mention some "infamous plane ride." Almost every past superstar is asked if they were on it and what happened. What is this plane ride and what supposedly happened on it?

Every now an then this gets brought up, and is still a legendary tale that sparks great discussions from us on here. I'll summarise as best I can here:
- Occurred on 5th of May 2002 during a flight from the UK back to the US after a UK only PPV. The flight was delayed for over an hour, so guys were drinking before and during the flight, since Vince had paid for an open bar. So basically everyone involved in this were completely pissed out of their minds.
- First of all, Michael Hayes was being loud and obnoxious. He even went right over to Linda Mcmahon, whipped his d*** out and was just about to urinate, but then luckily got led away. Then he was being an arse towards Bradshaw who was sleeping next to him. He was poking and aggravating a head wound Bradshaw had from a blade job the day before. Until he gave him a Freebirds punch and Bradshaw woke up, saw that he was bleeding like a stuffed pig from the re-opened wound all over his nice suit. So he promptly knocked the f*** out of Hayes. Finally as Hayes was unconscious, X-Pac grabbed some scissors and cut off Hayes' signature mullet, to multiple cheers from the boys on the plane. Hayes was understandably pissed off, but only found out when he was going through customs, where he was getting so riled up the security had to calm him down. Then then next night the hair was pinned on a notice board in the Gorilla position at Raw. And again Hayes went ballistic.
- Scott Hall was pilled up and pissed out of his mind. He and Curt Hennig were going around spraying shaving foam on people/at parts of the plane, until Hall passed out and was semi-conscious for the rest of the flight.
- Goldust/Dustin Runnels, who had been drinking all day, decided to get on the plane intercom, just to "serenade" his ex-wife Terri Runnels, since he wanted to rekindle their romance. He also told a flight attendant that her and him were going to "f***". So then-president of Talent Relations Jim Ross had to talk sense in to Dustin and settle him down.
- Ric Flair, known for his drinking, paraded around in just his sequined robe, went over to 2 flight attendants (one being the same one Goldust had approached earlier), whipped out his little Flair twirling around and yelling WOOOO! He proceded to place both flight attendants hands on his member despite their attempts to get away from him. The WWE supposedly had to settle out of court with the 2 of them, despite Flair denying all these allegations.
- Then there was the "shoot fight" between Curt Hennig and Brock Lesnar. They were good pals at the time, trained together, similar wrestling backgrounds, and both hailing from Minnesota. But Hennig thought he was the better grappler and challenged Lesnar to an impromptu match in the aisle of the plane. It escalated from friendly to antagonistic. To the point where Lesnar got heated and charged into Hennig, right at the emergency exit door, almost popping the door open 30,000 feet in the air. The fight had to be broken up by Finlay, Triple H and Paul Heyman.
- The result of this flight, included Hall and Hennig getting released immediately after, X-Pac an Goldust getting disciplined, whilst God know's how Flair would have got away with what he supposedly did. Lesnar was fine because people vouched for him saying it was Hennig's fault.
When I first heard the story, I had and have since, read that there was an amateur match between Kurt Angle and Vince Mcmahon, because Vince thought Angle couldn't take him down. They fought in the aisle until they woke the Undertaker who thought Angle was attacking Vince for real and literally choked Angle out.
But oddly, when I just searched for the Plane Ride From Hell, I could only find one instance of this fight among 5 pieces I just read from. So now I'm unsure if it was during this flight, but could have sworn it was.
So there you go. Crazy stuff.

In reading through this (excellent) post, what struck me the most is the amount of debauchery that went on before you even got to the name "Ric Flair." Ha. Also gotta say that even though I knew these details already, while reading through it, a little voice in my head still went "oh no..." when I saw Flair's name pop up. |

Many of the shoots on the ride have said everyone was drinking (even the McMahons) it was just a few that couldn't or wouldn't stop that compounded the trouble.

 In an interview with PowerSlan years ago, Brock shot down the reports that he and Hennig slammed against the door. He said they were scuffling in the aisle but never came close to touching the door. |

On the Lesnar/Perfect part:
I can not remember who said it but one of the many shoots featured a bit about how Perfect shouldn't have been fired and that they did not ever hit the emergency door, only headed towards it. Lesnar and Perfect did cause the plane to shake as Lesnar slammed Perfect into the floor with a hard takedown which caused alot of the panic as they headed in the direction of the door.
