WWE are screwed. Putting the belt on Roman now wouldn't be good, but he's the only choice. He needs to go through the storyline where he redeems himself and wins. Unfortunately without that storyline and the matches he needs to go through to get the belt it could hinder his future success.
Everyone else is either in midcard hell, injured, a part timer, or Kane or Big Show.
Honestly speaking, putting the belt on Triple H could be just about the only thing they can do without completely messing everything else up. It'd at least be better than putting the belt on some random midcarder.

Such a shame, dude had been working 20+ min matches like 3 times a week since he joined the main roster, something was bound to give eventually unfortunately. Only thing I can see happening other than having Cena return early and winning the belt is Roman winning the title with Sheamus cashing in and taking it off him, they feud until the Rumble where Reigns wins it. Ambrose wins Royal Rumble and turns full psycho heel on Roman. Or even Ambrose turns heel on Reigns at Survivor Series and wins it.

You know what... Put the belt on Reigns at Survivor Series. At least that way they might finally realize Roman Reigns is NOT the guy they sure seem to think he is and maybe, just maybe we can move on to something and someone better come WrestleMania time.
Wyatt, Ambrose, Owens, Cesaro, Del Rio, Sheamus, Barrett, Neville, Ryback... All guys who, with a little storyline work and creative thinking, could pretty easily be built into legitimate Championship Material and actually get over with the fans. Even with the directionless nature they've been handed in recent months it really wouldn't take that much for any of them.
Sadly, we'll most likely see either Reigns win it outright (and IMO, the only way that's a good thing is if he does it by joining the Authority and turning heel) or Cena be brought back early to win it. WWE has yet another golden opportunity to make one or more new major stars on their hands. I'd like to say that they'll do it this time, but history has shown that they will probably take the easy route, put the strap on Reigns, and probably work towards Lesnar challenging him for it at WrestleMania. Because for some reason, despite Ambrose and others getting very clear better reactions from the live crowds than Reigns, WWE still seems to think we all are just clamoring for The Roman Empire to rises again.

I could see Undertaker winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Belt, with the help of his Brother, Kane, and then both siding with the Authority as the Corporate Brothers Of Corporate Destruction, Corporate Kane and Corporate Undertaker. Undertaker can tell Triple H that he’ll gladly be the Corporate Face of the WWE as long as Kane gets his job back as Director of Operations. Plus at their age, it would be Best of Business if Undertaker has the Authority watching his back. It’s like the Corporate Ministry, but more “Corporate” than “Ministry” this time around.
Plus Undertaker side plates on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Belt would look really cool!! HAHA!!

I never want to see anyone get hurt, but Rollins absence from the WWE is a good thing. Hopefully it will be a wake-up call to the organization to push some of their untapped talent!
Rollins is a hack. He hurt Cena, almost killed Sting, and sounds like a 14 year-old on the mic. When Kane is fighting for the belt, you're in a dire situation as it is.
Good riddance Rollins.

a funny idea would have been to keep the belt on Rollins , then suddenly during the operation he has to have, while Rollins is under anthestetic sheamus come in with scrubs on with a referee and cashes in

As a huge mark for Seth Rollins it sucks he's going to be out so long and having to give up the World Title and also missing Wrestlemania.But I the long run I think this is very good for the WWE right now with Cena,Orton,Bryan and now Rollins all being gone and also Brock all their top name guys are gone and they'll have to push the younger guys and finally give them a real shot in the main event scene.
To me the only choice to put the title on is Roman Reigns,I would prefer him turning heel in the finals against his brother Dean Ambrose and then building to a grudge feud and rematch at Wrestlemania where we get a main event of a heel Roman Reigns back by the Authority .Vs the Royal Rumble winner Dean Ambrose.I think these two could a have some great matches and real get the crowd into their feud.My dream main event for WM 32 would have been The Shield triple threat so having Reigns/Ambrose is better then nothing and still pretty damn good in my eyes.
Besides Reigns again I can't really see anyone else as WWE Champion right now,maybe Triple H but with him being pretty much retired over the last five years and only wrestling a dozen times or so in the span I don't think he could actually go enough and stay healthy for a real title reign plus with all of his back stage stuff.I would love to see him as world champion one more time and on the active roster but again just dont see it happing.

Weird time to be into wrestling. Cena out, Orton out, Bryan out, Rollins out. I'd like to see Ambrose take the strap, could lead to a jealousy feud between Roman and Dean leading to WrestleMania. Have Roman win the rumble, have Dean play an austin-style heel by having him annoyed how Roman's getting all the attention whilst Roman stays babyface.
