In Canada we are better off buying the elites before the basics.
Elite here are $24.99 at the most, and basics are $16.92 at the most. It sucks. When Walmart puts on $10 (now recently it was $12) basic sales, we Canadians will try to grab as many as we can/need during that time frame. If not, it's hard to justify paying close to $20 for a basic figure.

I feel like the T crotch is outdated and basics should have "elite" articulation for legs but no accessories. Have like 4 instead of 6-9 or 10 freakin figures a set. Elites should have cloth or appropriate accessories. Others should have multiple hands/heads. But theyre the giant corporation making $$$ and im just an idiot Yeah, I could deal with basics having less deco & no accessories, & even less articulation than elites, but your right, the T-crotch is awful. It's fine for display only, but for play, it's terrible

Didn't Bill from Mattel at one point even say that Mattel wanted less articulation given to Basics?

The only basic I have in my collection is the t shirt Roddy Piper and I've put the elite legs on him from the knee down and the legends kilt.
I buy basic divas too as there is no difference between them and elites.
Any others I buy are for head/arm swaps and pads/boots etc... for their elite counterpart.
Keep them I say otherwise half of our fellow collectors would stop which is bad for all of us as Mattel would have less money.

Only Basic Warriors for me, but I think Mattel has stepped up their Basics game since they began.

So to all you exclusive elite collectors out there I ask, how do you live without basics? They either make anyone I want in Elite as well, or the veeeeery few Basics I want (Road Warriors blue pads) I grab but there's VERY FEW. I don't care about anyone new, as far as wrestling. I want my legends. I do have Punk, he got me back into watching in the last few years. Honestly, I love NXT so I'll grab some of those guys but again they're all getting Elites. I can wait. There's NO ONE who's Basics only that I want, except Dreamer (who I didn't know was even made, I'm green to the mattel game.)

I don't mind an occasional basic but I prefer an elite have a bunch of both because sometimes you can only get who you want in basic until they break down and make them elites...like KO or Balor... I didn't want the basics but I want them so I got them would prefer elites

I mostly use basics just for part swaps but there are some basics in my collection. I just wish basics had the crotch joint that elites had. They don't need to have the double knees, ab crunch, upper leg rotation, or anything else that elites have. They just need that crotch joint!

I'm trying to keep my Basics down to divas and Attitude era and earlier. Although, I just ordered Balor off Amazon, lol.

Without basics, we'd have almost no Diva figures and then I'd be a very sad panda. But yeah, I'm actually going to start collecting more Elites exclusively, but I don't think I could ever stop buying basics entirely. Some of my favorite figures in my collection are basics.

I collect and enjoy both for different reasons. There are instances where a basic has been miles better than its elite counterpart. And certainly vice versa. They also both have drawbacks too. The T crotch on the basics is outdated as stated previously. And the ab crunch on elites is an ugly distraction aesthetically. But I'll gladly buy both as long as they look good enough to do so.

Basics are great for the price. Half my collection would disappear if Basics didn't exist. Yep same here. I buy Elites only for Flashbacks

Im enjoying the responses coming in and I haven't really put much thought into the t crouch on basics. Although I do occasionally simulate matches with my basics and elites, it has never really distracted me in terms of playability. However it is a dated design choice for a modern day figure. I mean this isn't Jakks RA anymore and even Jakks completely moved away from those basic articulations with their TNA line. Agreed something has to be done and could be done with basics as far as the dreaded T crouch goes because they have already made basics like corporate Kane and divas with swivel thighs. Mattel has been in the game with this line for almost 6 years now and its about that time that they step it up and introduce a new basic design. However this might cause price hikes for the affordable line.

I collect both basics and elites, but I always felt that without having basics, I would be bored with elites as the roster would not have guys like Carlito, Shelton Benjamine and such. Also recent additions like the outsiders just adds to the ever growing line up. And sometimes I could settle for just having a basic of guys like Sheamus and Big Show without having to ditch the extra bucks for an elite version of them. So to all you exclusive elite collectors out there I ask, how do you live without basics? There are very few basics I buy. I tend to only buy basics that it is safe to assume won't make the elite line. However I do only get the basic with the plan to custom upgrade to an elite. I will say I wasted tons of money on basics because they were cheaper and I didn't want to pay the price increase for elites. However, since grabbing a couple elites, I haven't gone back.

Basics should just be for the divas.

I love Basics. More often than not, I'll buy an Elite and add parts to the Basics just to make the Basics pop more.
I only display mine so the added articulation isn't always needed. Plus sometimes I think the extra ab & thigh joints on Elites are kinda ugly.
My current roster shelf consists of 95% of Basics.
While my Flashbacks/Legend shelf is 98% Elites.

Same, most of my Elite accessories and clothing usually ends up on a basic counterpart. Like I just got E35 HHH and Harper, and slapped the crown and robe on a basic HHH and Harper's vest onto his BP figure.

I like them because sometimes you never know if they'll be out in elite form.

Hideo Itami is probably never going to get an elite, so he's a good choice to buy ad a basic.
