I love Basics. More often than not, I'll buy an Elite and add parts to the Basics just to make the Basics pop more. I only display mine so the added articulation isn't always needed. Plus sometimes I think the extra ab & thigh joints on Elites are kinda ugly. My current roster shelf consists of 95% of Basics. While my Flashbacks/Legend shelf is 98% Elites. Same, most of my Elite accessories and clothing usually ends up on a basic counterpart. Like I just got E35 HHH and Harper, and slapped the crown and robe on a basic HHH and Harper's vest onto his BP figure. I even went as far as to put Elite Harper's tank-top on the basic! It hides the molded one beautifully. And then I glued the bandanna on the back of his pants.

I don't buy a lot of basics but I do like having the option buy a basic figure of a wrestler I'm not willing to pay the elite price for such as 3MB, PTP & the Usos. Basics are also a nice way to get alternate or special attires like COO HHH, J&J Security, Paul Heyman, "Hitman" Punk, T-shirt entrance Austin or Hogan, etc.

I like basics as well. Certain wrestlers I have no desire to buy the elite or find that the value of the elite isn't worth it so having the basic is great. I also just display the figs, so most of them are just standing, in which the elite articulation would be a waste. The only times I would have to consider an elite over a basic is either for the tattoos or accessories. I like for things to be as represented as possible, so I will spend the extra on an elite HBK so that the tattoo is colored. I will always look to buy basic figs, as long as they don't come out of the packaged warped and cant stand up flat footed or tilted.

Basics do absolutely nothing for me ... figures without entrance gear I find boring. Fine with others liking them though, even if I don't see the appeal. Stopped buying basics a while back and have saved a lot of money.

I dislike Basics but occasionally buy them for parts or to stand in the background. I could live just fine without Basics, assuming they made more Elites in return. It's the wacky price/availability discrepancy between stores right now that keeps WWE figs from being top tier. Sometimes you can get Elites for the price of Basics, other times Elites will cost $22+...it's pretty annoying.

I can't do basics because I am an elite collector. The basic figures will just come out in elite form any ways. Why bother spend the money. I complain sometimes about the price of an elite. So why buy a basic figure customize him just to buy the same figure for more later on. There are some situations where a wrestler leaves the company so then and only then would I buy a basic. Another one would be for suits like J&J. Not going to buy basic KO just to say I have one when I know they will make an elite. Yes, I understand the need for basic for parent buying for children and all but what if they eliminated the basics to have more money on elite things. What if Roadogg came with a cloth outlaws shirt and Dx shirt. No more rubber jackets!

COO HHH is such a great figure, he should have been released as an Elite with some extra accessories rather than with D-Bry. There's nothing Basic about him, except that he is released in a two-pack that generally contains Basics.

Up until this point I have always collected basics. I am trying to slowly fade them out... Unfortunately I just have been buying elites recently. They are just better to display and play with imo.
Im an only elite collector as of right now...

I buy basic suited figures and some divas. That's really it for the most part, aside from guys like Balor and Owens who I buy to tide me over until their elites are released. I mostly don't buy basics do to their unnaturally close legs. Everyone looks like they're waiting to use the restroom instead of a professional wrestler. That stance bothers me so much

I love basics and actually prefer them. However, I do not play with my figures or pose them. I often display them in a neutral standing position and I've found that 80% of the elites I buy have loose ankles and end up just falling over.

I like elites better but I have gotten some basics I really like. My favorite Hogan is the WM Heritage basic

I buy basics because they are cheaper and we actually get them here in New Zealand (although selection isn't the best),I already have to import everything I want for Stackdown and I can't afford to import elites as well.
I don't like the hip articulation on basics and I very much wished they all had the B44 Kane style hips (I could do without the thigh swivel and double knee hinges as long as they had the hips) but I just have to accept them as they're all I really have access to

I'm just glad elites and basics are compatible, unlike Jakks ruthless aggression and deluxe aggression lines.

Not much of a story, but there it is...

I feel like there wouldn't be a WWE line at all without the Basics. It's kinda clear to me the adult collectors get left out in the dust with the Elites. Between the outrageous prices, cheap accessories becoming common place, and flashbacks eating up the lines, it's almost like they're trying to steer you to buy Basics to begin with.
The thing is though, the basics suck. I don't own any, aside from one Diva, but I know from my time with Jakks RAs I need an ab crunch and better leg articulation. I want action figures to play with, not statues that can't even hit the right poses. Looking over my "wish list" I do have quite a few basics I've decided to get for my roster simply because they have no Elite available. Mike Knox, Shelton Benjamin, Hunico, and a lot of lower tier guys just don't see the light of day in the Elite line often.
I don't even get why there are two lines. I'd prefer everything be the same personally, even if all we got were basics. I wouldn't collect, but it'd save me the frustration lol.
One thing I wish Mattel did was just let me subscribe to a club to get elites. Screw retail, just give it to me straight from the source and into my mailbox, man. Keep the basics in stores, because waiting for elites to dry up around so stores can get more here is painful. At least basics don't shelf warm so hard due to the price. What kid is gonna spend $22 on an Elite Mark Henry like I did when 3 million basics of his are around for nothing? lol.
I think Mattel had something like this with the Legends, but I guess it didn't work out. Shame, I kinda dug it.

When I buy an elite and all the joints are tight, I'm a happy man. But given Mattel's god-awful QC, many times I'll prefer the basic versions, as stopping a match every ten seconds to realign Seth Rollins' legs is intensely frustrating to me. That being said the T-crotch is still an issue and I do prefer basics with wider stances, like the recent BP HBK, RVD, and basic HHH. I'm just thankful my DM 'Takers arrived blemish free and with tight joints. That almost never happens.

I assume basics exist for A- kids who bash their toys and play with them appropriately and B - non Hardcore toy people who just want a cheap version. Or rather, Elites exist for nerd adults who don't mind spending extra for articulation, accessories (sometimes, just a vest? Come on!) and coloured tattoos.

I like both Elites and Basics and own a good mixture of both. I don't "play" with my toys but do pose and display them. When I see a basic with an attire I like ill buy it and it looks good on the shelf.
Plus some people look better as basics and others as elites. Ziggler, swagger, and hogan as basics blow there elite figures out of the water, while guys like sheamus look better as elites.

I love Basics, and even through you have the right too, I hate when people rag on them. Let's remember, these figures are made for Mattel's target market - kids. Parents can't always afford $20-25 per figure, which makes Basics a great substitute for kids. If you don't like Basics, don't buy them, and stop complaining about them.

The funny thing is... a lot of basics have better attires than their elite counterparts. I buy some basics (All of Edges basics) but that's pretty much about it. I will buy other basics for part swaps/headswap/armswap etc.
