Sorry to have a bit of a rant but I'm getting sick fed up of pre-ordering figures and have them turn up with dodgy paint applications. I've had everything recently from black streaks down Sting's face, Triple H with two sets of eyebrows, Summer Rae with lips painted below her mouth and Stardust with only one painted eye! It's not always easy for me to find the figures I want in the shops to pick the best paint job and being a collector I prefer to pre-order the figures I want. I used to look forward to opening the box of figures when it arrived but now I'm wondering what horror show I'll see when I inspect them I realise that not everyone collects figures purely for display and are fussy about quality control but some of the recent instances have been unacceptable. I don't remember the early Mattel figures having these problems and nor do I remember the Jakks figures having these problems. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mattel figures and think they're generally doing a great job with the license but prices are going up and importing certain figures here to the UK can cost a lot of money and I just don't think it's acceptable. I remember Bill was asked about this in a recent interview and he said he thought Mattel's QC was good. I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts on this. Rant over!

The upcoming E41 Balor is going to be a nightmare for QC, so much scope on that figure for paint app mess ups.

Mhm. I can agree with this. A lot of figures have some random paint splotches on the back of heads and such. My Brock did, as well as the newest Ascension figures also having such splotches of black on them as well.

Yes, I made a thread last year about this and recently I bought a DM Undertaker and one of the wrist joints was very loose to the point it looks like his hand is going to fall off! Their QC is terrible for the prices of their figures. £22.99 I paid for that DM figure.

I am also fearing this figures QC, as I preordered it because I know I won't see it up in Canada... It cost me $58 including shipping and the exchange rate, and I haven't seen the figure, quite the gamble...

Most of the QC I see is paint apps and I feel like it is something that needs to be addressed instead of Bill saying that he thinks they have good QC amongst other major toy lines. I'm not buying other toys. I'm buying Mattel WWE figures. That's all I'm concerned about when it comes to QC

Yeah I also preordered Elite Balor on his own from RSC to make sure I managed to get him and it cost a lot for shipping here to the UK so I'll be very nervous to see what state he turns up in

Its not just mattel Hasbro , funko , moose all of their QC is on a continuous downward spiral...They say kids don't care but that is not true my 4 year old has passed on numerous items from those companys because of poor paint jobs.

Yeah i hate it. I am not a perfectionist or need my figures to be 100% perfect but i would like them as close as possible or at least pretty good. I hate being in the store and having to compare paint jobs. Especially because i haven't been finding much in them and been relying online more than ever. I also hate when people say then don't buy it. It is such a childish response. As a consumer we have the right to say something is good or bad. If you go to a bad restaurant or something you put a negative review online don't you? Same thing pretty much. I think Mattel has lost a step all around from announcing lineup and showing photos as well. I hate buying something or pre ordering without at least a proto image.

It's horsecrap
The product itself by and large is great, but I can't order online because I want to see that the figure hasn't got an array of paint smudges all over the shop
So I buy in store, and spend 10 minutes comparing 5-6 variations of the same figure to see which one is 'good enough'
So I buy it, then find out it can't stand up anyway, or a hand falls off as soon as it comes out of the box
... so yeah, I'm reassessing the situation this year, if it continues I'm going to be cutting back significantly

I think it's gotten worse. I never used to have a problem but in the past year there have been so many bad paint apps. Now sometimes I preorder and get a botched paint app so I have to keep it moc and hunt the figure down months later at retail and then buy it cheaper and return the expensive preordered one. It becomes counter productive.
This just adds another element of difficulty. Not fun

That's all I'm concerned about when it comes to QC I made a post of this awhile back that said almost exactly this but got a slap on the hand for tagging them in the post, lol. Mattel already reeled us in, now keep us hooked.
