I'm 30 years old and have collected wrestling figures on and off since I was 13. I've sold my entire collections each time I bowed out. Recently I've got back into wrestling a bit and I've decided to start collecting a few figures again. I think my collection will be Elite-only at this point, because of how detailed and articulated they are. To start with (and maybe permanently) I'll only be collecting superstars who were in wrestling before 2004, and mostly main-eventers at that.
Whew! How pricey the Elites are! In the past few days I've spent around CAD $1300 on less than 30 Elite figures, some of which aren't even MOC. Luckily, for what I'm collecting, I'll be fairly caught up after I receive all these figures.
My question is: Which do YOU collect? Elite, Basic, or both?

Currently I collect both, but I have rules for myself. Current roster I only buy elites, but legends and Divas I buy both.

Both. I don't mind the basics and on display with elites they're pretty much indistinguishable.

I was strictly elite only until just a month or so ago so now I'm backtracking, trying to get all the cool basic flashbacks. Ultimate Warriors in particular.

I’m thinking both. I have these, which I believe are Basics. I have this, which I believe is an Elite. These are the only Mattel WWE figures I want in my collection…for now. I do, however, buy Elites that come with Championship Title Belts or Crowns, keep the accessories (such as the gold Money In The Bank briefcase, robes / capes, and scepters), and sell the figures.

I collect both as sometimes basics are really good and the articulation on basics aren't that bad. I prefer Elites but I still think basics are worth it.

Elites. Basics seem like a complete waste to me...

I buy mostly elites unless there's a first time in the line basic of a figure I really want then I'll grab that too. (Finn Balor, Hideo Itami, KO, etc)

I pretty much collect both basics and elite, but it all depends on if i like the figure on elite or not. I have passed on some elites that i really dont like and buy the basic edition because it looks better.

Only Elite flashbacks. It is to much and i don't really watch the product now and i would hate getting 3 or 4 of the same person since new and updated and better ones keep coming up.

Both. I see plenty of good and use for both styles. The fact that they're in scale with each other and completely compatible with each other makes it easy to amass a large collection of both. If Jakks would have made DA figures in the same scale as RA figures, i would have bought more of those. Mattel got that right thankfully. And i love both equally
