I just saw on my homepage of YouTube that Shane is back. I have a few thoughts on this, as I admittedly have not been following what's been going on other than watching some videos of Styles and Ambrose to keep up with what's happening.
1. I love Shane McMahon. Love him. He was absolutely awesome during the Attitude Era and one of my favorite characters, and the guy was a tremendous athlete. But are you telling me that THIS is their big "Ace in the Hole" to try and save Wrestlemania? Shane has gotta be close to 50 and hasn't wrestled in I can't even remember how long, yet they're putting him in one of the biggest matches on the card of the biggest show of the year against one of the biggest legends of all time? I highly doubt he can jump off Titan Trons or cages anymore at his age.
2. How/why did they possibly get Shane back into the fold? As far as everyone knew, he wanted nothing to do with the business for the longest time and had literally zero involvement other than a few backstage visits here and there over the years. Is it as simple as him just wanting to get back into the business or is it something more than that? Money? Investment? Very interested to learn more details about how this all came together.
3. They booked literally the most random Wrestlemania big matches of all time. It makes the booking of Sting vs. Triple H last year with D-X and the nWo interference look logical. For one, why is The Undertaker fighting for Vince McMahon? Is he supposed to be a heel? If so, why? If not, why? It makes zero sense whatsoever.
4. They've already painted themselves into a corner with this match where no matter the outcome, everyone looks bad. If Taker wins, then Shane's return was all for nothing and Taker looks like the bad guy for killing the only hope the company has to get better (in kayfabe, of course). If Shane wins, Taker looks incredibly weak losing to a guy who hasn't wrestled in, like, 10 years. Imagine if the only two guys who wind up having beaten him in his Wrestlemania career are Brock Lesnar and...Shane McMahon? That would look really, really awful and make absolutely zero sense.
5. Is Shane McMahon really back to be a part of the business moving forward or is he simply back for a few months for no reason other than being in a storyline that ends at Wrestlemania?
6. It really is a complete lack of respect to Taker to have him wrestle these throwaway, nonsense matches when any one of them could very well mark the final match of his career. I understand everybody getting hurt screwed everything up, but even doing a match with Jericho or a rematch with Bray would've made more sense.
