i decided to start doing a low carb diet to lean muscle. has this worked for anyone else? I don’t really believe in low carb diets personally. it’s not sustainable, and you’re likely going to end up eating all those carbs again at some point. being in a calorie deficit will result in weight loss, and if you’re doing some weight training it will make your fat be preferred to be burnt over your muscle for energy. generally speaking your macros should be 60% carbs, 25% protein, 15% fats.

I'll declare for the "not a fan of low carb diets" side. Glycogen is a primary fuel source for exercise, need carbs to fuel that train.
Getting lean is a relatively simple thing in concept, doesn't need to be all that fancy.

I would throw out there that if you’re limiting your diet in that form, you may want to consider adding foods or supplements that support magnesium, zinc, and vitamin d and b12, etc.

Low carb diets never did any good to me. In general I think that diets ruining our health, cause it is absolutely not natural. I prefer to eat healthy food, avoid junks, take vitamins and supplements from canadian pharmacy and make sports 3-4 times a week. That is my formula of healthy lifestyle and it worked very well so far.

progress is being made; feel like I’ve made some ground in the rehab of my right shoulder. the atrophy is becoming less apparent as it catches up. only noticeable to me but it’s more for actual health/longevity/functionality reasons.
a weak point of mine are biceps, so I’ve been really working at them. hoping to bring that and the shoulder up in a few months, but I’m enjoying the process immensely either way

Recovered fully from the partial pec tear. Took the time to invest in fully rehabbing my left hamstring, which has been an issue for like 8 years. (Previously torn twice in athletics). Getting "old" sucks. The amount of prehab I have to do these days compared to 10 years ago is staggering. But, thankfully, the raw athleticism seems to have not aged a day and I feel just as physically capable as 24 if not more so. Enjoying the last few true prime years of athleticism before the actual decline starts. I genuinely feel bad for anyone that doesn't experience being an athlete/living an athletic lifestyle, our bodies and the ability to move athletically is such a gift, and something I don't take for granted. To each their own, but ya missing out big time on one of the greatest things life has to offer.

I've been working out again for the last month and it feels good. There is a good chance I fall out of habbit but for now it's helping me with stress.

Also cut out ordering doordash and the amount of beer I was drinking. Though getting my sleep schedule under control was what gave me energy to be interested in doing any of this.

ah yeah, food delivery charges can get over the top, and unfortunately there’s just not enough healthy options overall in most cities.

The conversation about carbs. Don’t cut out carbs. There are healthier carbs. You need fuel to burn. What you may want to do is consider eating more frequently to get the metabolism burning more fuel!!

serious leg day yesterday, nice rest day for today with some light cardio later on. 😎
legs are possibly stronger and definitely more developed than they’ve ever been, and I largely contribute that to the pendulum squat machine. really allows a guy like me with limited spine mobility from injuries still get a real proper workout.

Got too excited watching the uni track meet the other weekend with some of my favourite kids I've ever coached. Wound up doing a huge plyometric session after a lot of heavy cleans and deadlifts. My goooood were my shins fried the next couple days. So worth it I missed that type of training. Only 4" to catch back up to my lifetime best vertical, and about 30cm to get back to my lifetime best standing broad jump. These "old" bones still got some athlete left in 'em.

Can't wait to start cycling again, but the weather is not the best at the moment. In order to keep my weight the same and don't get any extra ponds I am doing healthy diets here and there, like this one for example betterme.world/articles/12-hour-night-shift-meal-plan/. So far to works great for me and I am in my perfect shape at the moment. Still miss the cycling, as it gives me a lot of energy, especially when I do it early in the morning.
