Not saying I'm considering it or need to, but I often see these threads floating around on here about people "getting out" and subsequently having a fire sale on their collection, only to regret it and return in a few months all sad. So I've been asking myself recently...could I stop if I felt like I wanted or needed to?
Obviously I would like to say yes, this hobby doesn't control me...but recent occurrences have given me pause to think about how deeply and firmly the collecting bug has got its talons sunk into me...
So I ask you...do you truly think if circumstances dictated it...you could walk away....for good...and not look back?

If I had to save money and get serious about my finances, I easily could. Right now, I am okay with money and can afford it..but I'd choose daily necessities over figures any day.
I sold off about 80% of my original collection and focus solely on WCW, Flashbacks in general, a select few modern guys, and Sting..It's made collecting much more fun for me.
Could I stop for good, sell all and never look back? I don't think so. If I had too due to finances, of course, but not if I had a choice. Even if it was just my ToyBiz DDP or Hollywood Hogan sitting alone on my shelf, I'd always want to have at least a few of my favorites displayed.

It's easy to walk away. I'd find it harder to come back.

I know how it would go for me. Sell off most of my collection, randomly check the boards to see what's upcoming just for fun, get super excited about what's coming, dive right back in. So I think I'm here to stay.

I could see myself re-directing my attention to the WWE video game to get my fix, but I know I'd be jonesin' hard everytime a cool new attire pops up on WWE TV.

I would always dictate the way my life goes, not the other way round. The only I would stop is if they stopped making Ultimate Warrior figures. Then I'd stop for sure

I mean, I COULD.. but why? It's a good outlet for me... a fun hobby, and kind of the last big "collection" I've allowed myself to keep.
Like some others.. if I walked away, it would be very hard to come back.

Sure I could if I had to, but you need to define "if circumstances dictated." I mean, if you lost your job and had to beg for scraps on the streets, then you don't really have a choice. Would I literally starve to buy figures? Well that might work for a few weeks at most, but then I'd die and thus my collecting would stop.

I've sold off collections before and regretted it. It's easy to get out but very hard to get back in especially looking up how much it would cost you to get back why you have sold years ago. I've sold off two Bam Bam Bigelow Legend figures... So my new way of collecting is to just stop buying and nock them away when I feel I want to get out. Once I get the bug again I break them out and pick up where I left off... If I one day get out for good I'll give them to my son.

At this point I would probably stop collecting if Mattel lost the license and the replacement line wasn't on par with what we're getting now.
I look back at some of my earlier figures and think it's amazing that we're getting full paint apps and entrance gear now.
I recently bought a Captain America figure and the quality was really really poor compared to the WWE Elite line.

I could but right now I'm fine with money but like others said choose the stuff you need more over figures. And like others has said it's easier to leave them to come back.

Well, I think the people that flip-flop are more inspired by the value of things, and I'm not just talking ebay, but the line as a whole, like "Why am I buying all this stuff that I don't necessarily like in between the things I do like?","Do the people in charge know wtf they're doing?", "Are increasing costs worth keeping up a collection?", stuff like that.
I don't think I could. Even if I was broke I'd probably find a way to keep collecting. I mean, I liked this stuff for about 20 years, even during the bouts of boring WWE shows. Outside of work and other obligations I love to play booker, and I want to have the biggest pool of characters I can get.

Not really. It'll be tough because of the catching up if I get back in after a while.

Ive already told my wife if Mattel either lost the license or changed the body style which made them no longer compatible with the current series, I'd be done. I was angry when Jakks lost the license and wasn't going to collect Mattel. But, when I heard Mattel was going to make the figures in scale based on their real counterparts sizes, I couldn't pass it up. Having figures with the right sizes was one of my biggest wish lists for a wwe figure line. So yeah, if the style changed again and wasn't compatible with Mattel's current product... I could and would be done collecting.

I could, but I don't want too yet. If I do stop, I would just stop buying new, and keep my current collection because I paid pretty much retail for every single thing and to buy them back down the line would be misery and costly.
I'm trying to stop collecting all other misc stuff and been focused more on just wrestling as of late.
