i like both trades for the yankees....gave up a bunch of whatevers for legit pitchers. they need help with pitching more than anything. maybe Happ pitches well and they sign him cheap next year? montgomery isnt coming back any time soon and clearly they dont think any of the guys in AAA are ready. Britton is legit, and again could be a guy they sign in the offseason too. its not a guaranteed rental, but adding both of those guys makes the team better JA Happ is not legit or what we need. He's got a 4.18 ERA on the year and an over 7 ERA in his last 4 starts. Happ is 35 and is not in the Yankees long term plans....or at least shouldn't be. They need to bring up Justus Sheffield and let him pitch before he turns into Chance Adams and stays down there so long he regresses. And Britton is going to want closer money and we are already overpaying Chapman. I wouldn't even bring back Robertson next year at the money he will want (at least $12 million). I would bring up Domingo Acevedo and groom him as a future set up man.

Yanks almost have to put Stanton in RF and trade for Moustakis and put him at DH to try and make up for some of the lost offense.
The Yankeea cannot catch the Red Sox with both Judge and Sanchez out of the lineup for at least a month.

SEVEN bangers in the Phillies game last night. 2 from Hoskins, 2 from Williams, 2 from Franco, and one from Santana. They were crushing the ball! 58th win last night, now up 2.5 in the division.

Athletics are 61-43, I find it crazy that if the season ended today thy would not be in the playoffs. I was wondering what you all think a bout redoing the playoff format. I mean I don't have a problem with it myself. I do find it crazy that they might not make it though. I feel that with expansion this problem will fix the problem. So when baseball does expand (especially since Manfred said he wants to have 32 teams) Where should the MLB expand and what should the MLB do with the playoff format?

That’s about it.

Personally, I get a little tired of all the talk of playoff changes, for every sport. It seems like whatever is going on in a sport that season warrants people wanting a change. The AL is overwhelmingly top heavy this year, and it would appear that a deserving team will not make the playoffs. If it weren’t for the expanded Wild Card, two deserving teams would be missing out. 1/3 of each league makes the playoffs, the lowest of the major sports, and it should stay that way. Baseball’s playoffs don’t suffer from unworthy teams still competing.

Going to the Padres game tonight. I’ll say it till I’m dead but it’s the best damn ballpark in the country.
The food alone!

Feeling a Harper move. Nats know he’s not staying. And they can’t afford him.

If Alfaro’s hit would’ve went a couple inches further, it would’ve been 8. There are more similarities between this team and the ‘08 team than any other Phillies team from the past 10 years. I don’t think they’re consistent enough to make it very far in the playoffs, but you never know for sure. I think they’ll win the NL East at least.

FA is is another matter, but I'd still rather take a run at Machado and wait for Trout.

Unless it’s a trade we can’t say no to, I’d rather just go the FA route for Bryce Harper. The window for a World Series is so small I’d rather just be patient and wait for it to open up in another 1-3 years than try to force it open now with dumb trades and FA decisions. Mike Trout is coming to Philly when he’s a FA anyway, so I’m not worried right now.

Trout will most likely be a Phillie when he’s a FA And he's a CF, Bryce is RF. We can get both, we'll have enough money for the next 2-3 years to outbid any team on anyone.

The Yankees should sign Hanley Ramirez and put him at DH for the 3+ weeks that Judge is out.
