Why does it always seem like the Yankees pick up some stud, amazing all star player yet they never show up in clutch playoff situations?

Stanton is not clutch the 2 rookies are scared the guy we signed because he had an under 2 ERA vs the Red Sox gave up 5 runs to them in the playoffs and the Yankees did what they've done best all year, leave men on base with 0 or 1 outs better win tomorrow or these ing crapsox are gonna win the WS

Everything pretty much held to form, except for Happ. Sale was enough of Sale to continue doing his thing against us, our pen did its job, and Boston's bullpen was not good. We just didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had. Scoring 1 run with the bases loaded 0 outs is pretty standard for us, and that's not good enough.

As atrocious as their bull pen is, Boston is gonna have to put up big numbers (like they did last night) and then cling to a lead or get some lights out pitching from a starter for 7 innings.

Every Yankee flaw was exposed in this Series.
In 4 games the Yankees starters combined for just 8 total innings. Aaron Boone's inexperience in not knowing when to take somebody out. The Yankees scored just 2 runs in the first 17 innings at home in Game 3 + 4. The 2 in the 9th was too little too late.
The Yankees proved that you cannot have an offense that is home run or nothing.
The Red Sox proved that their rotation is far superior, and that they can score runs in many many many different fashions and they have no problem with Sac Fly's and RBI ground outs or stealing bases or hit-and-runs....
The Yankees on the other hand, struck out a million times, and when they did get somebody on, parked them on base and waited for the home runs that didn't come except in Game 2.
We'll see what the Yankees do to get ready for next season. But I wouldn't recommend bulking up on more power hitters.
The Yankees need to focus 100% on fixing their starting rotation. I would sign Patrick Corbin and re-sign JA Happ, and hope that Justus Sheffield is ready.
A rotation of Severino, Corbin, Tanaka, Happ and Sheffield is very very good, and they would still have German, Loasiga, and Chance Adams as depth, and remember, Joran Montgomery is coming back in maybe July.

The Yankees never fix their rotation. It's always about the long ball. I'm not completely against Cashman going.

Didi needs Tommy John surgery.
I'd say that due to 2019 being his walk year and Machado being a free agent, the Yankees will probably sign Machado.
The other option is move Gleyber to SS and get another 2B.
No time table yet other than Didi will miss a "large chunk" of 2019.

Man, Machado is going to look good in those red pinstripes. If they somehow have the money to keep Hoskins and Nola, then sign Machado this year and Trout in 2020 that’s 2-3 championships in the 2020’s. Knowing the Phils though they’ll probably overspend on signing/resigning old, washed up players and exit the playoffs early every year if they even make the playoffs.
