So apparently Bryce Harper was a big fan of Gabe Kapler after his meeting with the Phillies. At least Kapler is useful for something.

White Sox have officially offered Manny Machado a 7 year deal worth $175 million. I am not a big fan of signing Machado, but at his age with the level of offensive and defensive production he brings to the table, the Yankees should be ashamed if they let a player like that slip by on a deal that doesn't cross the dreaded $200 million threshold....unless they sign Bryce Harper instead.
I know they have alluded to the fact that they are avoiding long term deals due to the ASTRONOMICAL pay raises that players such as Judge, Severino and Sanchez are coming up on, and Judge's 2023 free agency....but to not at least try and match the 7/175 for Machado is letting a huge opportunity to WIN NOW while Judge, Sanchez and Severino are all still pre-arbitration eligible.
Just my opinion. I'd prefer Harper due to the power left handed bat...but if he's going to get offers exceeding $300 million and Machado can be had for less than $200 million....you have to do it.

Didn’t expect those numbers from Chicago at all. Yankees really ought to re-evaluate their plan if that’s the number they would be competing with.

Zero reason not to. , with this market shaping up like this, sign Keuchel too.

i'd be willing to bet that was a false report just to generate this kind of "shock" to up the value of Machado, its working.
regardless, the Yankees cant continue to tell us fans that they are a "death star" and that they've been trying to get under this tax thing for years to wait for big free agents and then not sign any of them

If that was what the White Sox offered, Machado would just tell them "Not enough".

If that was what the White Sox offered, Machado would just tell them "Not enough". If that ends up being the highest offer, what's he going to do...not play? Retire at 26? Maybe 7/175 IS the market for a dirty player who on the cusp of free agency and on the biggest stage in his sport decided to NOT hustle in the World Series?

Yanks add another reliever.
The 33-year old had a good 2018 in Colorado, posting a 2.43 ERA, 13.0 strikeouts per 9, 4.2 walks per 9, 0.58 home runs per 9 and a 43% grounder rate, in 77 2/3 innings of relief.

Good move by the Yanks. The bullpen should be really amazing in 2019.

Mariano Rivera becomes the first player to ever be unanimously voted into Cooperstown.
Also great to see Moose get in as well

about ing time those writers did something right. there was no justifiable reason for Mo to not get 100% of the votes. so awesome for him, thats incredible. couldnt think of a more deserving guy to finally be the first unanimous elect. this means Jeter has to get it next year too, then

Awesome news about Rivera and Moose. Rivera deserved 100% and I think Mussina going in is long overdue.

Had a few of my friends balk at Rivera being the first player to be unanimously voted in and threw this counter argument to them: debates could be made on who's the best position player or starter of all time...there is NO debate that Mo is the greatest closer of all time; one who played his entire career in the toughest market in the league and was near flawless in the toughest of situations so constantly and consistently.
So damn happy for all 4 inductees this year, obviously most happy for Moose and The Sandman. Already have my hotel booked to make the trip to Cooperstown that weekend.
