Connor McGregor took to social media to announce his retirement. It was then confirmed by his coach.

Not 100% sure I am buying it. Connor is a master of promotion. Could be setting himself up for a bigger payday.

There's rumors saying he may get involved with WWE. If that's the case I'm not for it, I'm tired of pro athletes wanting to come to WWE. Hope he fails.

For what it's worth, he recently started following Triple H on twitter, along with Shane McMahon and a few others.

My sister brought this up about it, maybe he's shook up about Joao Carvalho's death, since it was his teammate and he was cageside when it happened, and maybe he's afraid to fight now.
I'm interested to see what the new UFC 200 main event will be now that Conor got pulled...

He's the reason I took some serious interest in UFC so this is a huge shame for me. Hopefully he does do something WWE related, it would be cool to see him cut some amazing promo's.

If he takes it seriously and puts on a good show, who cares? Don't act like you wouldn't jump at the chance to do the same thing he's doing if you were given the chance to.

From Dana White's comments on Sportscenter, seems more like a knee jerk reaction. Evidently Dana told Connor he needed to come to Vegas for promotion for UFC 200. Connor is in Iceland training for the rematch. Anyone who knows Connor knows some of his training is a bit unorthodox, yet he takes it very seriously. He told Dana he wasnt going to do it, as it would disrupt his training. Dana told him he wasnt gonna need training cuz if he didnt get his ass to Vegas, Dana was going to remove him from the UFC 200 card. Connor called his bluff and this morning Dana removed Connor from UFC 200. This afternoon, Connor posted on twitter that he was retiring, citing he earned enough $. This is a direct shot to Dana White, who has had several conflicts with star fighters in the past. He was basically telling Dana that he is the UFC's biggest star and does not NEED UFC. I definitely agree with Connor on his rationale, but retiring on twitter wasnt the best way to handle it. Perhaps he felt, due to Dana's history, that trying to work things out professionally doesnt always go so well. Dana is very much about being the man.

I highly doubt it though, he does cocaine. There's a story of a girl who's party with Mcgregor twice and claims all he did was do cocaine and party for 2 days straight even took pics of him. Not sure WWE wants a guy like that, that can ruin their reputation. Either way I'm sure he won't last long. And if I was great at fighting and making millions I wouldn't jump into WWE.

WWE covers up drug violations or just doesnt test big names anyway. Wellness test is a ing joke unless you are midcard or lower. As far as why would McGregor want to goto WWE vs. UFC....its pretty simple. You can still make millions of dollars being a WWE superstar on a part time basis. Injury risk is much lower and so is amount of pain you are required to succumb too. Look at Brock Lesnar. He's got a nice cushy gig. He works about as much as a UFC fighter does or maybe a bit more. He doesnt have to worry about getting destroyed. He can make millions.

This is interesting
I wonder how this plays out since it was supposed to be such a big pay day
Maybe he is walking out on ufc so confidently is because he knows he has wwe to fall back on

I'm sure Nate was just trolling Connor, but it's not like rash decisions don't run in that family lol..

This whole situation is just bizarre... seems like Conor and Dana were both calling each other's bluff. I'm interested to see what the new UFC 200 main event will be now that Conor got pulled... Yeah... it's gotta be something big - I'm thinking something like Jones Vs Cormier or Rousey Vs Holm 2. Or maybe Lawler Vs GSP if GSP's coming back... not sure if GSP would want to go straight into that fight though, after a long lay-off.

Curious if he ever gets in depth as to why, beyond citing "health reasons" or "lack of passion" or something of that nature.
