^ I've got Gall in the first round.I like Punk as a person but I don't think he'll do well at all. Other people have come into MMA expecting to be hot shyt and do something only to lose and be one and dones. People in much better shape than Punk too.
I'm not sure how much he's trained in Muay Thai before or during his time in WWE. But Duke Rufus seems to believe in him. I dunno. Can't wait to see how he does though.
I just think it's not much to ask to miss a press-conference/video shoot, after he's twice stepped up and fought different opponents at short notice to save events - including taking a fight at two weight divisions above normal, so it could be made. Not many fighters would have done that. I disagree that he took those fights just for himself - he could have easily said he didn't want to fight and wait until his original opponent was ready - on both occasions. He knew how much the UFC needed them/him though.
I get what you're saying about special treatment - but it really wouldn't be saying McGregor is bigger than the sport... no-one is, or ever will be. It's not as though he does - or would do - this all the time... it would have been a one-off, under unique circumstances. I think he's deserved it - and most fighters, fans and press etc. would have totally understood the situation... as Ariel Helwani said to Dana: "the fighters both want the fight, the fans want the fight... why not just make the fight!?".
Yeah but then what's to stop another fighter from doing the same thing later on? It would cause this mess all over again. And then it would be a no-win situation. If UFC allowed it again, it would show that they can be leveraged and would thus lose control. If they didn't allow it, they'd be major hypocrites and would all but confirm that Connor DOES get special treatment.
Dana White made the right choice. And hopefully it teaches Connor and the rest of the UFC a lesson. You have to promote the event. There's no way around it. If you can't maintain your focus to do that, well, maybe you ought to do something else.
I'm a McGregor fan btw. That being said, UFC 200 will be just fine. The card is ing stacked! I can't wait!
They've lost a sh±t ton of buys for this because McGregor is not on that card. Business will be underwhelming. 197 did terrible numbers. 200 has a better card obviously but comparing it to the other big number special UFC 100 which had a colossal main event in Lesnar, I think it will be quite underwhelming commercially.
Silva has had to have gall-bladder surgery and is off this weekend's card. Bummer...
Ugh. This is the one thing that makes being an MMA fan really difficult. You get so hyped up and excited for a certain matchup or fighter in general and it just all goes to hell. Heh... That's kind of a microcosm of life in general.

Dennis Siver has also been replaced by Cole Miller for the fight against BJ Penn at 199.
Silva being taken out of the Hall fight is really disappointing. I was llooking forward to that fight. The rest of the card is great but I'd love it if for once nobody got hurt or required surgery before a big fight.
