A lot of people are saying Dana and company sold the UFC because 2015 was the biggest year, and there is no way they could ever top it. They say it's to hard to build stars when you can't pre determine the winners. Conner lost, Ronda got her head kicked off, Meisha just lost, Jon Jones and Brock both testing positive.. They say the best days for the UFC are done. What do you think? Do you think there will come a day when the UFC isn't even around anymore?

One day - yes.
I don't think UFC will last forever, but I also don't think they'll be going anywhere for the next 5-10 years at least.

As big as mixed martial arts has become I wouldn't think it be go anywhere for a really long time. But hearing all this has kinda got me worried.

How do you build stars after Shamrock/Gracie? How do you build stars after Liddell/Couture? How do you build stars after Silva/GSP? How do you build stars after Mcgregor/Rousey? Its simple...you just wait. UFC will always have stars but unlike the WWE they wont have 6-8-10 big names at a time. They'll have a couple big time draws and when those guys are done they will be replaced.

I was watching the fighter and the kid and Brendan Schaub and Chael Sonnen were both talking about this. Both agreed they didn't know what else you could do to make the UFC any bigger than it already is.

I would still like to hear everyone else's thoughts on this. Do you think the UFC's future will be bright, who will be the man after Dana finally leaves the company all together ect..

I think they'll be fine... the boom period might be over, but who knows? New fighters and stars will always come along... not many people had heard of Rhonda Rousey and Connor McGregor a few years ago - and now they're (arguably) the top draws in the company. At the very worst, all the PPVs could level-off to a certain level (kind of like how RAW's TV rating levelled off) - but, as with WWE, there will always be a fan-base and people who want to pay for the product. It's actually really exciting to see what the new UFC owners will bring - I don't think they'd have spent all this money buying the company unless they had big plans...

I can't speculate as to who could replace Dana - and surely wouldn't want to! I believe the UFC's future will be bright; I don't imagine there will be a period like what was seen several years ago (the boom) but venturing into new markets, showcasing new fighters and new platforms for fans to get behind them can only be a good thing.

They'll get a big boost with Connor at UFC 202 and Rousey's return at MSG. But I'm not sure that's enough to bring them back to where they have been the last few years. Especially with big name fighters failing USADA tests.
I'm of the opinion that the Fertitta brothers stepped away at just the right time. After all, they bought UFC for only 2 million. Obviously they spent more to get it going, but overall they made a KILLING and reinvigorated a sport that seemed all but dead.
I'll be pleasantly surprised if MMA has a more prosperous period in the future than the last few years.

It will be huge if Punk wins his first fight. Imagine if he gets two or three wins under his belt.

I just don't want it to get to the point where no one cares about the UFC/MMA anymore. I really love this sport. I have since 2005..

Only time will tell, but Dana White is said to be signed on for at least the next 5 years and he has said this deal is goingntontake UFC to the next level. He said he thinks it will be the biggest sport in the world and they have way more financial backing now under new ownership to bring the UFC to a more global audience. It sounds crazy but they all thought they were crazy when they first bought the company and were saying this stuff and look where they took it to now.

I don't think it's "done" per say, but I do think we are watching the equivalent of 1998 WCW/WWF. I think this is the peak. Chael Sonnen mentioned there are 53 total shows this year, when there's only 52 weeks. I can't see it getting much bigger.

I also heard someone say the only other thing the UFC could do was be on multiple networks. Just like the NFL. Instead of only having a deal with Fox, that they would also be on ESPN, NBC, CBS ect..

The plan from what I've read for the new owners is to take it to a global scale. Open up in new markets over seas that Mma is not as big in such as China. The growth probably won't be as fast as it was over the last ten years but I'm sure they will grow bigger over the next 10. Dana white is pumped on where he thinks how big the sport will be in 5 years and he's more motivated than ever because he will be making more money than ever. Supposedly his salary will now be based on a percentage of annual net profits. He could be making some serious bank the better the UFC does.

Who knows? I remember watching UFC 1 and thinking Shamrock and Gracie were just awesome. Who would have thought the UFC would be around almost a quarter of a century later? Back then the fighting was underground and "weird". It was better to say you liked WWF than UFC. The responses were either "What's UFC?" or "Oh, you like UFC? Ohhhhh....."
Now 23 years later? The company gets sold for 4 billion dollars. So, nobody can tell you what the future is going to hold.

No way in HELL. They just closed the biggest sale in sports history. The UFC is no longer a niche audience. They will move on to bigger and better things soon. McGregor plays a huge part in this, should he hopefully do good and put Diaz away in August.

I think this scandal is a huge black eye on the sport with Jones and Lesnar right now. UFC is bigger and stronger than it was the last time it was being looked down upon. They need to right this ship and quickly. UFC has the ability to become one of the top 4 sports in America. Right now...its probably just barely under hockey and I mean barely. Its already surpassed boxing.
