Amazing to think that Chip Kelly and Scott Frost were 1 and 2 for the Gators before turning to Dan Mullen in 2018. Neither Kelly nor Frost have been to a bowl game let alone won one, and they both outlasted Dan Mullen who won the Orange Bowl and Peach. Goes to show how fast someone can fall.

They certainly didn’t outlast him by having more success, just the nature of coaching at Florida and the team sinking like a rock. Hard to believe they lost to Alabama by 2 points.

Days like today are what make college football special. The rivalries, the emotions. Michigan and Oklahoma State end losing streaks to keep their playoff hopes alive and end the hopes of Ohio State and Oklahoma. Ultra dramatic last minute TD to force OT for Alabama and escape with a win.
If Georgia can beat Alabama next week, then that should take out the “big 4” of the playoff era all in the same season. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma all missing out. There’s football still to be played, but the final spot could come down to a Notre Dame/Oklahoma State debate.

I can see them falling to the 5-7 range even after the Michigan loss.

I don't agree. Bama hasn't been a traditional dominant Bama that we're used to. They've had to hold on 3/4 times against.. OK teams? Florida, LSU, Auburn. If they lose to Georgia, it should hurt them as much as it'll hurt OSU losing to Michigan. With enough help there could be a 2-loss team sneak in, but in my mind Bama should absolutely drop behind Notre Dame and Oklahoma State if they lose to Georgia.

We've seen in the past that the playoff committee would put Bama in without winning there own division. However this years Bama ain't typical Bama standards. Barely beating Arkansas, holding on to beat Florida, almost losing to an Auburn team that played a backup at QB. Bama has to win to get in. No matter the score if Georgia wins, Bama is out.

Lincoln Riley bolting for USC so he doesn't have to compete in the SEC is such a brilliant move. No one saw it coming.
I'm honestly surprised that Jimbo isn't taking the LSU job. He tricked A&M into giving him a huge deal to leave FSU, tricks them again into getting an extension without winning anything. At some point you gotta be upset with 8 win seasons. And the past three head coaches for LSU have won National Titles, two of those coaches weren't that good. Which goes to show you the kind of talent in that state which can win with bad coaches. You have no one in state to recruit against.

Would have to believe he'll stick around to coach if they get in.

A lot of rumor but according to some, after his meeting with the players this morning, he is done with the school. He already changed his twitter to LSU.

Kinda crazy to literally walk away from coaching for a championship, if they somehow get in there.

Kinda crazy to literally walk away from coaching for a championship, if they somehow get in there. I know you're a ND fan (I think) but there's just no way they were getting in. If Okie St jump of them didnt show you what the committee thought about ND the chairman saying they would take into account if a player or coach were no longer there should really do it. ND is their own worst enemy by continuing to avoid joining a conference. This last week of the season just has too many eyes on it to sit out. One of the biggest fubar's of the BCS era was the first game where FSU sat out and fell into the championship game. I feel like ever since then any NCAA committee has made sure nobody backs into the chance for a title again.

If two teams lose I believe they get in. Not counting Georgia of course. I also think their ranking possibly being affected by Kelly not being there is total BS and unfair to the players. If that is what keeps them out compared to a 11-2 Bama or Michigan, then I will not support that one bit. If they simply miss out by 1 spot because they think Oklahoma State deserves it more, then I'm all for that. I think Oklahoma State would've jumped them regardless of their coaching situation.

I just dont see anyway they can get in. If teams above them win obviously they're out but if you have multiple teams lose that gives the committee the excuse to say "lets just take the 4 best regardless of records" & to me ND is sitting no better than 6th on that list. They're just in a damned if they do, damned if they dont position. I dont think holding a team out because of a coach/player leaving is "fair" but I do understand it also.

I understand it more if it’s a player. Like, Alabama without Bryce Young or Alabama without Nick Saban? They’re gonna be a better team with Bryce Young out there on the field.

I think if the committee could they would drop Cincinnati for ND(or any other team). They want as many eyes on the product, ND would bring ratings. So I think if the situation presents itself, they will put them in if enough teams lose.

As a Florida fan I have no horse in the race today. However I'd like to see a lot of chaos. I don't believe in rooting for a conference so hopefully Georgia will win and knock Bama out of the playoff picture, and then Georgia loses in the playoffs. My brother attended Georgia so I guess if they win out it's ok because he would be happy. But still I want them to lose.
