Apparently the New York leg of the McGregor/Mayweather world tour press conference didn't go so well.
- Bad sound quality - Both guys rehashing insults from previous days - Mayweather threw real $1USD bills at McGregor as if he was a stripper - 'Pay your taxes' chants directed at Mayweather
Wonder what's in store for London, eh?
😬

...maybe we could create a separate thread for Mayweather/McGregor if there's enough interest?

...maybe we could create a separate thread for Mayweather/McGregor if there's enough interest? I'm sure there would be enough interest in time considering even my friends that have remotely ZERO interest in MMA are posting about it everywhere. If you wanna make one go right ahead but the last "Offical" thread I was asked to make nobody even has bothered to post in for months (Hot Women of MMA thread). I think this "News" thread would work just fine.

Soooo CM Punk....ever fighting again or what? The last I read of it, he claimed that while he hadn't spoken to Dana in months, he was hoping to get another fight in the UFC "soon". Truthfully, I feel like if he was legit serious about fighting for the sake of competing, we'd have heard something by now of him seeking a match anywhere he possibly could. I'd hope he's done nothing but train during this time away, but who knows. It has to be a bit tough for the UFC though. Any curiosity about Punk faded fast with his initial bad outing. Brock had an aura coming into the company, and only shot that through the roof with how he mauled Mir up until getting caught. With Punk, where do you really place him on a card? He's outmatched by essentially the entire roster, so you have to go find him a rookie opponent outside the company. Their only real shot at creating a buzz for him would be to do a freak show fight at catchweight, or give him a simple undercard fight during a Chicago event. As crazy at it sounds, I say let BJ start eating his heart out again, and let the two of them brawl at 175lbs.

Even though Penn is FAR from the man he used to be and Punk looked damn near worse than James Tonny did I'd LOVE to see those two fight. The name value alone would get people's attention.

Assuming they actually fight this time, anybody got dc beating jones? I'm starting to think DC beats him. The way Jones has been acting I think DC's in his head. With what, a two year total layoff (?) and the unimpressive way he fought OSP I think DC's got an advatage. Jones is coming off whatever drugs he's used and he just lost his mom too. Have you seen him already looking passed DC and ready to have a victory party? I'd like to see him win but something's telling me DC's gonna take this one.

Assuming they actually fight this time, anybody got dc beating jones? I think it's pretty even actually. Before the OSP fight, I would have picked Jones in a heartbeat... he didn't look particularly good in that fight though - so what's he going to be like against someone like Cormier (after another long break too)? Having said that though, this is Jon Jones we're talking about... he's still arguably the GOAT and I find it difficult to bet against the guy(!).

I think DC will win by decision.
I've also got Weidman beating Gastelum this weekend!

Not surprised. Had Cerrone vs Lawler stayed, and Nunes vs Valentina stayed on the card, i would have made sure id watch, even if i only got 3 hours of sleep for work the next day. Now the PPV next week, i will definitely watch. DC vs Jon Jones, Maia vs Woodley, Cyborg returns, i think Lawler and Cerrone got moved to this card. Now i will negociate leaving work early that day so i can nap till 8 or 10 so i can watch the PPV

Just heard that Matt Hughes is out of his coma!
What a relief. I don't want 2017 to claim him.

I really hope Daniel Cormier beats Jones. I will be so happy if that happens.

I don't want to be the bad-guy here ("...hey yo..."), but I'm really hoping Jones wins convincingly. I've always loved watching him and genuinely think he has the potential to be considered the GOAT. I know he's been in trouble, but that kind of adds to his appeal for me... the "troubled genius" (or whatever they call it!). At the end of the day, we all make mistakes... and quite a few people who have fame and fortune thrust upon them at an early age, seem to go off the rails.
(Also hoping Maia can pull of some awesome submission and beat Woodley...).
