So I decided I had enough with TWC and all their increasing prices. I started Monday without cable and it has been fine. I tried different indoor HD antennas and nothing has work. Only got about 4 channels which I don't intend to see anyways. Probably need stronger one or have an outdoor one but I'll have to do that project when the weather is nice.
Steaming options.
I have a trial of PlayStation vue and it's working fine. It has mostly all the channels I want and it has on demand or catch up any shows you may have miss. I selected the $30 which only gets 55 channels plus ESPN. Not bad. I already have a PlayStation 3 and 4 so that a plus. Only thing is that Apple TV does not have PlayStation vue app but I can get it in my iPhone but can't mirror it.
Negative - I don't get cbs or NBC to watch the NFL but it has an option $40 to get he redzone for the season. I may think about that. I have verizon with my iPhone so I can watch all the market NFL games and just steam it to my Apple TV. I'll try that his weekend.
The other option I have is Sling TV. Problem is that I would need to get devices so I can use it on my TV so that's an extra expense. I heard good things about so I may do a trial with them and see what works best.
Anybody here has cut the cable cord?

If you're still using Time Warner for your Internet, you should be able to plug a cable line directly into your TV and get some of the digital OTA channels. Some may be in HD, others in SD, but it should cover your locals. Make sure that your TV is searching for all channels, as a lot of times HD variations will be nestled in 5.1, 5.2, etc.
I'm not at a point of being willing to sacrifice cable. I've done the math, and all of the streaming services I'd need, coupled with the increase in Internet price by de-bundling would put me close to what I pay for cable. It's not worth the hassle for me yet.

I only watch Arsenal/other footy matches on cable. I haven't properly watched a movie in a few months maybe? Last series I saw... Uhh... When did Breaking Bad end? So yeah, cable will do for me. Just for Arsenal.

Wal-Mart sells one by Channel Master that I believe records two channels at once. It doesn't come with any storage though. You have to buy that separate. I believe it just takes an sdhc (smart phone) memory card. TiVo also sells an OTA version of their Roamio box. It's an extra expense -- but I'm not sure if they make you pay a monthly fee for OTA or not -- but it's worth it. Tivo is a superior product that's worth paying for. It also has several apps so you shouldn't need a streaming box.

I made the switch from a standard TWC DVR to a TiVo Roamio last year and it's been a fantastic investment. Superior performance all around. I love that thing.

cable makes me angry every now and then. my cable bill keeps going up and i want to cancel but have no other way to watch my shows. i just moved and switched my cable to Brighthouse, i had WOW before. Brighthouse said its gonna be $147 a month, what usually happens is its the price they tell you for that month, the next month will be more. they increase the price since then. gets real annoying

Take the look at Sling - sling.com I believe they even give you a free Roku player too! For as low as $20 you can get a ton of "live" television channels. $20 for Sling, $10 for Netflix, $10 for Hulu and you can pretty much watch anything.

I was looking at Sling but I'll need to get extra devices. I have 4 TV's in the house but only the living room and my little girls room watch Tv reguarly. So I'll need to get devices for that plus I think Sling only lets you watch one account at a time while Vue it allows up to 5 devices at a time. We have Netflix thanks to my sister so I don't pay for that. I tried Hulu before but I'm trying to stick with just one streaming payment.

Well with sling tv if you preorder 3 months worth you get a free roku......but I recently did a free trial of PlayStation vue and it was pretty good. We don't have cable either anymore due to increasing prices for stuff we don't even watch.

They also give you a Roku 2 player for free (or an AppleTV / Roku 3 on discount) and then you can pick them up for about $50-99 each. If you're already paying for cable, think of it as you're paying for another two months when everything is all said and done. After that point you'll only be spending 1/3 or 1/4 of what you were.

I hate my cable package since it's the basic one. I don't want digital cable since you have to lease the box and the remote control has so many buttons that if you press a wrong button you screw everything up.

Growing up I never had cable and I wanted it. I never pushed it with my parents though because I thought, if my parents did get cable my mom would most likely want a spanish package and that package didnt have the channels I wanted to watch. Now that im older though I rarely watch tv. Im more likely to watch youtube on my phone. The few times I do watch tv I watch for maybe 20 mins tops so I dont see the appeal to paying for something I'll never use.
Im tempted to get Hulu or Netflix or the wwe thing but when I click on their websites I cant see whats available, like a program listing so I feel like it wont be worth it.

I'm absolutely fed up with out current cable company. We had Verizon FiOS, which was kinda pricey, but worked fabulously and if there ever was a problem, it was fixed right away. Then Verizon sold it's Florida FiOS service to Frontier. Problems ever since.
The initial switch came right around the time our contract and discounts were expiring, so we contacted them to see about re-upping the same deal and same packages we already had. We were told that would be no problem at all, but we needed to switch from Verizon's coding to Frontiers, so boxes would need to be changed and whatnot. Were also told that we'd save a little money by agreeing to a two year term with their middle tier HD TV package. Were told that that middle tier TV package was the same channel lineup that we had, just called something different. Well, a week later, the technician shows up to change the boxes, which he does... He exchanges the boxes we had for the exact same model set top boxes. Also took two away because we decided to cancel the service to my bedroom and the guest bedroom as they almost never got used.
After the technician left, the TV started to go haywire and began freezing/stuttering all the time on every channel. Three days later, another technician had to come out to fix that because the first guy didn't install things correctly (something about the OTA not being switch like it should have). The we find out that the TV channel package that was supposed to be the same thing we had was actually missing about a dozen channels that we watch very frequently. Needless to say, we wasn't so happy about that. Several hours of an online chat session later, we finally got the right channel package at a discount (though will still be paying $10 more a month than we were).
Since then, we have pretty regular hiccups in the TV service where the boxes need to be reset a couple times before working right again.
And our home phone went down for almost a week too.
At this point, it's just not worth it anymore. We'll be moving soonish and once we do, we're done with this company. If we can't get a good deal with someone else (I think Brighthouse in our area), we'll just cut the cord all together and look into something like Sling, PS Vue, etc... The big thing is being able to watch our shows mostly on demand or with DVR because we're rarely able to when the air live and a lot of them end up being on at the same time.
Oh, and NHL games, but I think you can get those with an online streaming service they offer.

My dad cut off TWC cuz they've been raising their prices, there's really nothing we can do about it other then tell them to go f**k themselves. I watch football online and that's about it. I download the shows I've missed so I don't miss out, but I may see the options you guys have said cuz it doesn't hurt to try it out and see if any of them work.

I found that the Direct TV and Dish people have it planned that you cannot save any money unless you want to scale back the stations you receive. I do not have the premium movie channels or sports channels and what I have suffices, but you cannot get all the stations I watch for their lower prices. When you get to the 200+ channel tier so that I have what I currently do and add the three boxes you are amazingly at the same price that TWC is currently charging for their services. I am in the 1% that they cannot connect their satellite to as I live in a valley with a park/forest behind me and on one side in which the trees are tall enough to prevent line of sight to the satellite.

I recently got a Fire TV stick and I love it. I've got Prime, Netflix (free, courtesy of my awesome cousin) and WWE Network. I'd love to be able to watch NJPW World on there as well. If only they would put out an actual app instead of that damn browser wrapper...

You can get pretty much anything for free with a firestick if you know how.
