OK, I'll admit it. Although I watched wrestling off and on when I was a small boy, I didn't become a rabid wrestling fan until about mid-1987. I noticed that a few of my favorites at the time were a lot different than my friends who also watched. Whereas they liked the usual top guys (Hogan, Piper, Savage, Steamboat, Andre, Bulldogs), I found that my top guys at that point were:
King Harley Race Hercules Hernandez Bam Bam Bigelow Ken Patera Paul Orndorff Butch Reed The Honky Tonk Man Don Muraco The Killer Bees
Who were some of your favorites when you first REALLY got into it?

Started watching in 2008; my favorites were Jeff Hardy and CM Punk. Not sure if that era counts as "classic" though.

I started watching around 1999 but the first ever event I watched was a 1992 Royal Rumble VHS... And I watched the crapout of that as a kid. As most children in the Attitude Era, I gravitated towards Steve Austin. When you're 4 or 5, there's nothing cooler than the Texas rattlesnake. As I got older and became more clued up with what pro wrestling really was, I gravitated to the guys who were putting on stellar matches during the Ruthless Agression era. Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero etc.
I've always been interested in the likes of Flair, Michaels and Perfect because of that 1992 Royal Rumble VHS. I've spent countless hours watching late 80's early 90's stuff, even though I never lived it, I still consider it one of my favourite era's of wrestling.

It was around Halloween of 1990 or so, I was trick or treating, and me and my mom or whoever I was with stopped at an older gentleman's house, and I could see through the door, just barely, on the television, a wrestling ring with the Ultimate Warrior going berserk. It's one of my earliest memories. I started watching WCW a couple years after that, and naturally loved Sting. Hogan and Savage were favorites too when they joined WCW. When I started watching WWF regularly, Diesel and Shawn Michaels were my absolute favorites.
Of course, I have a picture of me when I was around a year old, and I'm holding a Ric Flair Remco figure, so who knows?

My first favorite wrestler ever was Tatanka. I thought he was just awesome. Don't think I ever really recovered from him turning heel against Luger.
And I'll share this little tidbit cause I think you're a swell bunch of guys. My first AOL screenname was test8710
Yeah, that Test.

But Brutus Beefcake was my first real favourite.
Bret Hart and Randy Savage followed.

i started watching at around the age of four. my grandmother worked at the local salvation army and gave me a bag of ljn figures. she didn't know they were wrestlers and neither did i until i saw hulk hogan run out and save macho man in wcw; recognizing the macho man figure immediately. i gravitated towards him in wcw because of his bright colors and extremely outgoing personality.
then i got into bret hart in the wwf and that stuck around until he left in 97.
i was a big benoit fan. even buying tapes in grade school for his pegasus kid run in japan.
i was a mark for the rock and stone cold during their runs at the top of course.

I started during 2004 but played the video games since the 1st Smackdown game. My favorite wrestlers at the time were Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero. Then I saw TNA and was instantly hooked on AJ Styles.

Hulk Hogan, of course. But Brutus Beefcake was my first real favourite. Bret Hart and Randy Savage followed. That's kinda hilarious because Brutus was my favorite too, way back in '85. I thought I was the only one. We're not even talking Barber either. It was stripper Brutus that somehow became my first favorite wrestler. He was soon replaced by Randy Savage, then Undertaker, then Lex Luger, then Bret Hart, then Foley probably. Don't really have a favorite anymore.

I would have to say the Hardy boyz around the year 1999-2000. Mainly due to their high flying attributesand outlandish outfits. I remember hating Edge & Christian because they held the titles a lot and won the pay per view matches most of the time. It also helped that the Hardy Boyz had an upbeat theme as well.

I started practicing McMahonism between WrestleMania V and SummerSlam 1989. My favorites when I first got into Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment were Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Demolition, and Macho Man Randy Savage.
