I never had a jakks collection, but every time i see jakks figures, i see crap. That nash and hall looks awful. Goldberg looks like a knockoff or bad custom. Jakks sucked. Yall clowns cry about bad paint and loose joints. At least my outsiders dont look like a chinese knockoff. I have 3 jakks figures now. 3. All are bad. I have a roaddogg that has a flat, hit with a shovel face. His tights say pd or them instead of rd. Poledogg jesse james? Police dog jesse james? Piledrivin jesse james? My stephanie mcmahon looks like a spray tanned barbie. Laguna beach edition steph? Jakks belts are awful. Oversized, colorless, with those terrible ends rather than the snap end mattel uses. That Road Dogg you're talking about is nearly 20 years old. Of course it's not going to compare to figures today.

Wait. So let me see if I get this.
Mattel good. Jakks bad.
We should all bash Jakks, because Mattel is now the cool company.
I never got that. Now I see.
Thank you.
Hmm. Wait.
I see thread after thread of people constantly bashing Mattel.
Now I'm confused again.
So, the way to get people from bashing Mattel is to pile on Jakks?
But, we already did that. Back when Mattel WWE first started.
Now instead of just one Mattel-bash thread and dozens of Jakks-bash threads, there is one Jakks-bash thread and dozens of Mattel-bash threads.
So wait.
What I really want to know is...
Are Mommy and Daddy getting a divorce?

i think you picked the wrong examples to trash jakks with they had WAY worse offenses than a weird looking Goldberg head and the wrong head on a Kane figure and that Outsiders pack was pretty f-ing cool actually.

Paul Bearer must be at least 8 feet tall... either that or that's mini-Taker and mini-Kane in the package with him. Jesus. I never even noticed. I was too outraged by the blasphemy that is Kane. And to add insult to injury, the picture of the figure on the package has the mask! WHAT THE SHYT!??

Yet, for all the criticisms we might have for Mattel, we can still appreciate that they do a much better job than Jakks. Most of the time when people criticize Mattel, it's because we know they are capable of doing so much better. When we criticize Jakks, it's more like we're saying "Thank Jeebus we can sit back and laugh about this crapnow." Personally, I'll always have a soft spot for Jakks BCA's. They were just fun toys. I think one of the problems with Jakks post-BCA is they bridged an awkward span of time between when wrestling figures were just plastic men we slammed together until their arms fell off and a time when wrestling figures started becoming revered statues for our geeky shrines. They are kind of like the homo erectus in the evolution of wrestling action figures.

Lol that Goldberg scan is terrible. But for the most part jakks did a good job in the scan department. The ludicrous body scale was definitely their down fall.

Yeah Jakks gave us some frustration. But they release the deepest and greatest line of wrestling figures ever. Form current stars, to retro classics. The official scale ring, cell classic cage, elimination chamber. The first company to give us tables, ladders and chairs. Lets take the bad with the good.
But I hear ya. I too will never forget Chinese New Year. #cNy4Life

Notice i never complained about height, material, articulation..because these things DO change. But the fact that the wrong letters were used is not ok.

Hey! Another "lets crap on a decade old work from the last toy company" thread. Haven't had one of these in a while. Funny you would post a scale issue (Umaga and Wild Samoans), and an odd shaped head (every surfer Sting), as well as seeing many of the same parts used over and over. It seems the mistakes from years past still come back to haunt us on occasion. I love Mattel. I don't jump in threads to bash them or apologize for Jakks decisions either. I also don't believe we should judge the practices of a corner drug store against those of a Walmart. BUT, here is a reply from December 14th, in a more tactful manner. Oh don't get me wrong dude. Mattel has had more than their share of inexcusable ups. Brown-haired, ponytailed RSC Nash. Constant issues of hair color and correct boots. Sting still having a goddamn wooden bat. And of course the paint mishaps and loose parts that have emerged over the years. But in spite of all that, it's still miles better than Jakks. And I don't excuse Jakks to the degree you do. But I do get it somewhat. I think low standards were to blame more than anything. They basically stayed in the lowest common denominator in terms of effort as long as it sold. And they completely phoned it in their last couple years. I feel like Mattel challenges themselves more to keep the line fresh. That isn't experience as much as it is just giving a shyt, something that Jakks seemed to stop doing after a while. I would say I excuse Jakks as much as I judge them against themselves. As I mentioned, we were getting RA style figures after they'd been around for what, 10 years? Mattel got the license after being around almost 70 years. For me, it's hard to compare the two realistically once I think about that fact. And as for this crap about the 7 foot Paul Bearer, since so many seem to complain about it and leave out the whole story, allow me to show the rest of it. Yes, the first Paul we got used the existing suit mold which was much too tall. Wrong call by Jakks. We complained. They listened, and they designed a new torso and leg mold that they only got 2 uses out of. Not perfect, but let's at least remember that the figure as tall as Kane and the Undertaker wasn't the only version of Paul we ever got.

There will always be Jakks apologists, but we could really go on for dozens of pages with these sort of pics. From baffling parts/design decisions, to the balloon heads, it was truly frustrating at times to be a collector. I still remember buying the 2pk series where they decided to give the figures TTL era arms. Lol the one and only Luthor Reigns figure! I think Jakks made great figures. I grew up with LJNs which had no articulation. Then Hasbros which had limited articulation. Jakks did some neat stuff, including the classics line. The Classics line, which btw, Mattel failed miserably at. The way I see it, ever toy company comes in and improves upon what already existed. It'll be interesting to see who takes over after Mattel, and what gets changed. And lastly, that Classics line was half the price that the current Mattel line costs. That outsiders two pack was 19.99. The one Nash Elite is 24 on RSC. So, yes, you might see Mattel as the better of the two, but Mattel is charging a lot more for the toy. Great point. It's been so long that I have forgotten the huge gap in pricing between the companies.

Does anyone remember what RA figures debuted at price wise? I honestly don't remember. For some reason I recall them being $7.99, and CS being $9.99 (before both slowly rose up obviously). How about Mattel? I don't remember what Basics started out at, but I wanna say Elite debuted at $13.99 or $15.99. I think your right. I remember the Jakks figures being 7.99 for RA an d9.99 for CS at debut.

Mattel has the better looking figures with out a doubt, but I started collecting during the Jakks era so I kind of have a sentimental feeling towards their line. Plus that awesome Colin Delaney figure is awesome.

Hall looks like Steven Ogg. Very obscure reference He's kind of right though. Despite how much I personally dislike that 2pk, now I want to get a hold of that scan for a custom.

Hey guys, remember when Yokozuna wore different colored wrist tape, an elbow pad, had arms that went to his knees and a tiny head? Me too! Jakks rules!
