Simple they didn't sell.
If u look back some really poor choices in relation to attire. (Road Warriors before LOD, Sgt in blue and whit etc)
But, the other contributing factor -was most collectors rejected having to start again. I refer to it (maybe I stole this) as a Jakks hangover. The line was doomed before it even started. Luckily MDT found ways to get older guys back into the line. flashbacks, HOF, DM and TNF.

Economy had tanked a year or so prior, they were outright more expensive than Jakks, and the style prohibited them from being integrated into our old collections despite being higher quality figures. We had Entrance Greats, normal Elites, normal Basics, PPV basics, and the upcoming DM line that began showing up at the tail end of the year, too. It was just bad timing with the aforementioned questionable attire choices and in certain cases line-ups (launching the 2-packs with that uneventful line-up was an obvious oversight, as was re-releasing Legends 1 & 2 in the original HOF line at Kmart).
The old "Boss Bill" that used to post here had this to say before leaving:
"The best way to see legends continue is to buy them. Sales have been frankly terrible and we are trying to figure out how to continue the segment. When We figure it out I'll let you in on what I can, when I can."

Well, that makes sence. I kinda thought they were trying to do their own classic line. I personally did like the legends set and would off love for it to continue but they did have some poor choices of attire. I was lucky enough to have been able to track down some of the most rarer classic superstars figures out there and would off love to have more mattel legends to display next to the classic superstars ones. Well, it is what it is.

Well, it is what it is. PJ nailed it. But as for what led to the poor sales has been mentioned as well. Mattel backed themselves into a corner with the Legends. By picking obscure attires they gave us choices that Jakks hadn't, but even some of the diehard fans didn't seem to grab them at their price point. They put quite a few big names in early, which left them struggling as the series progressed, which didn't help when many shelves were already clogged with prior sets. I feel like the Legends series led Mattel to try and spread out the love when they got the green light for some high demand superstars, which then bit them in the ass when things like Foley's contract status and Hogan's outside issues halted production.

If u look back some really poor choices in relation to attire. (Road Warriors before LOD, Sgt in blue and whit etc) This, in my opinion, more than anything. I mean, Jimmy Snuka with boots?!? Come effing on! I wasn't in the market for wrestling figures at the time but if I see an appropriate Jimmy Snuka, I don't pass on him. I saw the legends Macho Man and grabbed it immediately. The wife asked what I was doing. I said, "LEAVE ME ALONE, BULLY!". I'd have purchased more if they gave us WM III Steamboat instead of, what?, Prime Time Wrestling Steamboat?

The obscure attire is a myth. There weren't as many of these occurrences as people make them out to be. And Road Warriors weren't obscure. That attire is as iconic as LOD. Out of the 33 figures in the main retail released singles line I count 5 wrong picks for attire.
Stone Cold Steamboat Dusty *Slaughter (shoulda been the HOF fig) Hawk Animal Rude *Funk (shoulda been ECW) *Snuka (shoulda been bare foot) Kamala *Jake (shoulda been Allstar Jake) Sheik Rock Pillman Perfect Bulldog *Vader (shoulda came with Mastodon helmet instead of cape) Duggan Warrior Steele Wonderful Hillbilly Ax Smash Savage Model Akeem Bam Bam Warrior Eddie Tornado Kerry Kevin

My issue with the figure is the lack of Warrior airbrush on his tights. Figured if they couldnt do Warrior then why pick that attire. I disagree with Dusty. There is nothing more iconic than his polka dots. Yeah he accomplished more in NWA but you can't think of Dusty today without picturing him in polka dots and hearing "He's just a common man..." singing in your head. Akeem is a brilliant figure and probably remembered by the casual fan better than OMG. I get why they did Bulldog. He went with DM bret and Pillman. But him in braids woulda been the better choice. Warrior's first title win was a great choice, especially since they had his WM6 figure planned two series later. So I'll add Rude and Bulldog to the list. 7 out of 33 were bad choices.

I'll always be sorry we didn't get Legends 7.
Just look at this lineup:
1. Hulk Hogan (Assault on Devil's Island attire) 2. Stanislaus Zbyszko 3. Golden Boy Dan Spivey 4. Jimbo Covert 5. King Kong Bundy (with eyebrows) 6. Super Invader (Hercules)

I think I seen ONE photo of Slaughter in the Legends attire. It was shown briefly on the Greatest Stars Of The 80s DVD.
Anybody else able to point me in the direction of some photos/videos please?

Let me be the first to say... Haha yup! manuelmSimple answer that doesn't include an opinion...over distribution. Especially having HOF 1 (kmart) all in the same exact attires of L1 & L2 and all 3 sets being in the stores at the same time.

They should've waited a few years which would've got the fans hungry for them instead of making them pretty much right away which was a horrible idea.
Think about it, it was 2010 and people were only getting used to Mattel and had moc collections of the CS series so they were not ready to start over again. Yes some of the attires were an issue but they weren't all bad. Austin. Rock Vader Bulldog Rude Pillman Steele Kamala Hillbilly Savage
Basically 90% of the line up were in their most known attires and only Slaughter, LOD and Funk stood out.

Dont forget the matty colletor and TRu 2 packs. All of which were on correct attire. It was too close to classic superstars and during the biggest economic collapse ever.
